Chapter 239
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 239
Viola spoke softly, but everything she said could be clearly heard by everyone as the office was now focused on Melanie.
Someone asked curiously, âWhat do you mean, Viola? Isnât Melanie in charge of Blue Inc?â
âA lot has been happening to Melanie recently, and she might be too overwhelmed to take charge of this. Mr. Scott wants Melanie to take it easier and focus on her current tasks at hand,â Viola replied naturally.
Even though she did not go into details, her words hinted at Melanie being ostracized by Eugene from the Blue Inc project because she was not able to settle her family issues.
There did not seem to be anything wrong with Violaâs answer either.
Melanie said nothing and returned to her desk.
She was in a slight daze as she did not rest well the night before. Melanie felt a headache coming on.
Melanie rested her head on her hand and closed her eyes to rest for a while.
She must have been exhausted as she instantly fell asleep the moment she shut her eyes.
Melanie heard Dylanâs voice in her drowsiness and seemed to hear Dylan shouting in the company. She was crying and begging at Eugeneâs feet, pleading for a loan of 500,000.
Different figures came in and out of her reverie, and the creases on Melanieâs forehead tightened. In the end, her eyes flew open at Dylanâs sudden hysterical scream.
She was still reeling from that fearful feeling. Melanieâs throat was dry as she looked at her phone. It had only been five minutes.
The video became the most highly discussed topic in the company, especially for the anonymous group. People had been commenting the entire morning instead of working.
As the group was anonymous and no oneâs real identity was revealed, the comments were even harsher.
Melanie was pulled into this group when she first joined LeapCo. It was initially for employees to give their opinions and thoughts safely, but it had become a place of gossip instead.
When it was time for lunch, Melanie did not have anything to eat because she had no appetite.
Yana came back with a cup of milk for her. âItâs just water cooler gossip, Melanie. Donât jeopardize your health over people like them.â
She had seen the video too, and all Yana felt was pity for Melanie to have a mother like that.
There were very few in the company who thought the same way as Yana.
By lunchtime, word of Melanie being kicked out of the Blue Inc project had spread through the entire company.
There was a complicated look on Tinaâs face when she went to see Melanie. She asked, âAre you sure you want to resign now?â

Melanie looked tired. She was having a headache from having no sleep the night before. She asked hoarsely, âIs there anything you need?â
âIâm here to verify your information. Just sign here if thereâs no problem and we can prepare your resignation details.â
Tina passed a form to Melanie after that. Melanie swept a glance at it and signed it when she saw there were no problems. [1]
When Tina looked at her and sighed softly. âGood luck to you in your future endeavors, Melanie.â
Melanie replied, âThank you.â
She had been in the office the entire day and was completely drained out.
Melanie still looked pale when she got off work. Yana accompanied her downstairs when she saw Melanie looking sick.
She said to Melanie, âJust get a taxi if youâre not feeling well enough. Itâd be safer.â
Melanie knew she could not drive in this condition. She nodded as Yana entered the elevator with her.
However, Eugene and Viola were in there too.
There was a file in Violaâs hands, and Melanie knew at a glance that it contained documents on Blue Inc that Melanie had prepared.
Her eyelashes fluttered, and she did not go inside the elevator.
She did not want to be with Eugene and Viola.
However, Viola called out to Melanie, âCome inside, Melanie. Itâs going to get crowded soon.â
Melanie wanted to reject her, but a few more people came by. They walked past her and entered the elevator after greeting Eugene.
