Chapter 4
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 4
What about Melanie?
What did the eight years between Melanie and Eugene mean?
Melanie waited patiently for Eugeneâs answer. Her breathing became much lighter.
Eugeneâs tone was the same as beforeâfirm and indifferent. âYou know that youâre not my type.â
That was true.
Aside from Eugeneâs short period of abstinence in the beginning, the women he dated were all very different from Melanie,
Eugene liked obedient women, but he did not like Melanie, who was obedient to a fault.
Melanieâs eyes were emotionless in the darkness.
Her voice was as cold as ever. âAre you staying here tonight?â
Eugene stood up and took his coat with him. âForget it.â
Melanie did not know if Eugene meant that she should forget about their relationship or just tonight.
When she arrived at the office the next day, Violaâs desk was moved next to hers.
This position had a full view of the presidentâs office.
Viola greeted her. âGood morning, Melanie.â
Melanie put her bag away and noticed the delight in Violaâs eyes. She asked casually, âWhy didnât you tell me yesterday that you didnât like the position I arranged for you?â
Viola was stunned and explained helplessly, âItâs not that I donât like it. Mr. Scott just asked me to move over here. He said he wanted to supervise my work.â
Her cheeks turned red again, but she soon realized that Melanie was still there, so she looked at little uneasy.
Melanie felt that everyone viewed her as Snow Whiteâs evil stepmother, deliberately bullying the pitiful Viola.
She lowered her eyes.
âLetâs get to work.â
The news of Viola moving her desk spread quickly in the office. When Melanie went downstairs to deliver some documents, she heard a lot of gossip.
Those people immediately shut up when they saw Melanie. They even exchanged glances.
Melanie did not care. She just took her things and left.
She went back to the presidentâs office to remind Eugene that he had to meet a client in a while.
As a result, as soon as the elevator door opened, she saw Eugene and Viola inside.
Seeing her, Eugene and Viola were also stunned. Eugene said, âIâm going to see Mr. Young.â
