Chapter 500
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 500
Melanie looked as full of herself as ever. Violaâs heart immediately twisted in her chest.
Henryâs expression darkened the moment he saw Viola. He looked directly at Eugene and demanded, âWho asked you to bring her here?â
Eugene said in a low voice, âShe wanted to wish you on your birthday.â
Viola immediately took two steps forward and said cutely, âMr. Henry, I heard that itâs your birthday today, so I made a cake for you. I wish you good health and a long life.â
Henryâs brows were tightly knitted together. Most of the other guestsâ gifts were worth thousands of dollars. No one had ever given him a homemade cake before.
To make things worse, he had high blood sugar, so he could not even eat the cake.
However, she was technically still his guest, so he could not just explode at her. He just gave Viola a long look. âAlright. Have a seat.â
When Viola heard his reply, she thought that Henry was touched by her gift. She smiled sweetly and was about to respond when Henry continued, âEugene, why arenât you sitting down?â
Viola took a look. There was only one seat left beside Henry, but Melanie was sitting next to it.
Her face fell. Melanie looked up and caught her staring. She thought for a moment and tried to get up, but Henry stopped her.
âMel, just sit there and celebrate my birthday with me.â
Since Henry had said so, Melanie sat back down. She did not turn around to look at she could vaguely feel her sharp gaze.
Viola, but
Henry was wise enough to read the room, but the same could not be said of Stella.
She looked up at Viola and snorted. âAs expected of a peasant girl. Youâre shameless enough to show up uninvited, and you only brought a measly homemade cake as a gift? How utterly cheap.â
Stella pointed at a cake box on the counter and sneered. âYou see that cake? It came from a Michelinâstarred patisserie. Why would I eat your unhealthy, inferior junk instead of that?â
Stella did not hold back at all. All the color drained from Violaâs face.
At the same time, Henry did not stop Stella. He just held Melanieâs hand and chatted with her softly.
It was only after Stella mocked Viola again that Henry spoke up indifferently, âThatâs enough. Are you trying to ruin my birthday?â
Viola gritted her teeth and looked at Eugene. âEugene, â
Eugeneâs expression did not change, but his eyes were unusually dark. He looked at Viola and said in a low voice, âGet changed first, then see if youâre hurt anywhere.â.
Violaâs eyes reddened and she was about to cry. Sho but only Eugene still cared about her.
had accidentally fallen on her way here,
Before she could cry, however, Stella slammed the table again. âYour family really didnât raise you well. This is a birthday celebration, a joyous occasion! Why are you weeping like youâre at a funeral?!â
Viola was so frightened that she blinked back her tears. She then lowered her head and quickly went to change, the waiter leading her away.
As soon as she left, Henryâs expression darkened and he looked at Eugene. âIs that the kind of girl youâre into?â
Eugene lowered his gaze and was silent for a moment before he said quietly, âYou know that Iâve never had good taste in women.â
Henry raised his eyebrows and was about to yell at him when Melanie hurriedly calmed him down.
She then paused and looked at Eugene. âYou should have told me Viola would be here too.â If that was the case, she would not have come.
