Chapter 543
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 543
Eugene was familiar with the name Matthew Smith. Matthew was no stranger to anyone who paid attention to the affairs of Oskon City.
Within just a few years, he had been promoted from an intern at Raywind to the general manager. Recently, he had even used some extreme methods to overthrow the old guard at Raywind.
It was only a matter of time before the Raywind Group changed hands.
Most surprising of all was the fact that Matthew was only twenty-four years old.
Eugene pondered over Simonâs words. Thoughts swirled in his dark eyes.
Simon did not disturb him. He stood up and said casually, âIâve passed on the word, so Iâm leaving now. Xavier is still waiting for me.â
Suddenly, he seemed to think of something and stopped in his tracks. He raised his eyebrows and said to Eugene, âHe told me that Melanie followed Xander back to meet the family.â
He chuckled. âMelanie doesnât waste any time at all, huh?â
Eugeneâs pensive eyes suddenly looked at him. His thoughts gradually calmed down and finally condensed into a dark ice. His voice was frosty and deep. âIf thereâs nothing else, get lost.â
Simon shrugged. He was not bothered by the coldness in Eugeneâs tone. âYouâre so heartless, Mr. Scott. I take it you wonât be free even if I invited you out for a drink tonight.â
âGet lost.â
Simon took his coat and walked out of the office leisurely.
The moment he walked out of the door, he bumped into Lee, who was bringing Eugene two
documents.
Lee greeted him with a slight nod before opening the door and entering the office. âMr. Scott, this is the new proposal we received.â
Eugeneâs face was expressionless. He narrowed his eyes and asked, âHowâs the progress with Burning Star recently?â
Lee paused and answered truthfully, âThe second stage should be completed soon. Burning Starâs representative came by a few times to ask for the next round of payments, but the company has been too busy recently. We canât find the time to handle it.â
Later that day, Melanie got a call from Lee as she was getting ready for dinner.
Leeâs attitude was businesslike. âIâve seen your message. Weâll pay as agreed in the contract. Set a time, and someone from LeapCo will come to inspect the projectâs progress.â
Melanie said softly, âAs soon as possible would be good. The new batch of materials is very time-sensitive. If we miss the best window of opportunity, the final effect might not be as good.â
Lee thought for a moment. âCan we do it tomorrow afternoon?â
Melanie agreed without hesitation. Oliver and Reny had been ranting about how sensitive these special materials were all afternoon. If even one condition was less than ideal, the consequences could be far-reaching.
After hanging up the phone, Melanie told the others what Lee had said. Reny immediately. cheered exaggeratedly, âYouâre amazing as always, Melanie! LeapCo fell into line as soon as you reached out.â
Melanieâs expression did not change. âWhich one of you will go with me tomorrow? I donât know much about the materials.â
Rainy shook her head. âI canât, I still have to record the temperature difference in the room tomorrow.â
Oliver chimed in. âIâm picking up some other materials tomorrow.â
âIâll go with you,â Xander said quietly. He had just come down the stairs and happened to overhear Melanieâs conversation with the others.
Melanie asked, âArenât you going to the hospital to spend time with your sister?â
âIâll go to LeapCo first, then the hospital.â Xander gave Melanie a long look. âShe asked me to bring you along too.â
