Chapter 561
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 561
Eugeneâs gaze turned cold. He stared into Henryâs eyes as if he were about to break down any second.
He slowly asked, âDid she say sheâs pregnant?â
âWe found out during the checkâup in the hospital.â Henry stomped his walking cane. âI think Melanie didnât intend to let you know. Youâre just a brat with nothing, but youâre so good at torturing her.
âWell, sheâs left you. Are you happy now?â
Eugene showed no response to Henryâs scolding.
âAre you listening to me?â Henryâs face was ashen. He warned Eugene, âI like Melanie, and itâs not because of you. Even if you have nothing to do with her anymore, Iâll still treat her as my granddaughter. Donât you ever dare have any feelings for my granddaughter!â
Then, he stood up angrily and left with Landonâs help.
Only then did Eugene show some reaction.
His pupils quivered as he stared at Henry, who was leaving. He started organizing the documents.
The office was so quiet that Eugene could even hear a pin drop.
After a moment, Eugene put the documents back in their place and stood there.
Henryâs angry voice lingered in his ears.
Melanie was pregnant!
A mix of emotions rose within him.
âMr. Scottâ¦â Lee sounded worried. Only then did Eugeneâs knitted brows
loosened.
He looked at Lee.
Lee said after a while, âMr. Scott, thereâs a meeting in ten minutes. Iâve been calling you. Is everything alright? Do you need me to postpone the meeting?â
Eugeneâs entangled thoughts dissipated, and he pondered before saying, âCancel the lunch break and bring forward the whole meeting.â
Lee had something to say but nodded when he saw Eugeneâs expression.
Ever since Eugene reminded them about the proposal for the third phase,
Melanie had been urging Oliver to finish it.
Oliver knew he had been delaying the progress and did it overnight within two days after returning from the site.
Melanie wanted to help, but many professional terms and data were needed.
She was incapable of dealing with those yet.
Melanie got more professional books from Xander to enhance her knowledge further.
Xander and Reny would also explain the things Melanie did not understand to her.
Melanie felt bad for troubling them. âYouâre already busy working yet Iâm being a nuisance by getting you to teach me,â
Xander glanced at her and took out a box of dried plums. He placed it before Melanie, saying in his deep and gentle voice, âA client gave me this. His wife dried the plums without adding any additives. They might be able to ease your nausea.â
Melanie looked at the box of dried plums as a strange feeling burned in her.
However, maybe because her hormone levels were high, Melanieâs nausea was worse than others.
She could not take any medication and could only bear with it.
With a smile, she took the dried plums. âOliver said he can finish it by tonight. Why donât we have a meal? Letâs take a break from the stress.â
Before Xander could say a word, Reny, who walked past them, said, âLetâs go to the fish and chips store nearby. The food there looks tasty!â
Xander rejected. âNo fish.â
âHuh? Why?â
Xander brushed her off with an answer, âI donât like the fishy smell.â
Reny accepted it disappointedly. âWhy donât we have a barbecue instead?â
