Chapter 649
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 649
Before they could hear Eugeneâs reply, the ward door was pushed open.
Xander had just entered in a hurry, so the door of the ward was not closed properly. There was still a
gap.
Everyone inside and outside the door paused. Xander sat beside Melanieâs hospital bed and looked at Eugene brazenly.
Eugene also stopped at the door of the ward. His originally calm eyes slowly froze like a lake in early winter. slowly moving from Xander to Melanie. His eyes narrowed slightly, as if he was judging her.
Melanie said, âWhat are you doing back here?â
The ward was so quiet that the air seemed to have frozen. Something flashed in Eugeneâs already deep and quiet eyes. He raised his eyebrows at Melanie, his thin lips pursed tightly.
Lee cleared his throat and said, âMelanie, you have another checkup today. It was a lastâminute order from the doctor. He called Mr. Scott to take you for a checkup.â
Before Eugene left in the morning, he had specifically instructed the doctor on duty to contact him if anything happened. Melanie should not take care of things alone.
That was why the doctor had called Eugene directly when he scheduled the checkup. Eugene had
rushed over as soon as the meeting ended.
Lee retreated to the side after saying that. He knew that Eugene liked to keep the truth to himself most of the time. That was why Harry had especially reminded Lee to speak on Eugeneâs behalf when necessary while they were here in Oskon City.
However, Melanie was not very touched when she heard this. She said calmly, âThere are plenty of nurses at the hospital. They can help me.â
In other words, she thought Eugene was sticking his nose where it did not belong.
Xander also stood up. His figure was similar to Eugeneâs, and his aura was in no way
inferior.
He said in a low voice, âMr. Scott, Iâm very grateful to you for taking care of Melanie, but sheâs still a member of my company. We wonât trouble you again in the future.â
Xanderâs words were very pointed. Eugeneâs expression did not change at all. He said calmly, âYouâre very considerate of your employees, Mr. Solomon. You could use that as a selling point during the bidding?â
Xanderâs beautiful eyes were filled with equal amounts of pride. âRather than offering suggestions for
my company, Mr. Scott, I suggest you worry about your own.â
Burning Starâs situation was nowhere near as complicated and problematic as LeapCoâs. Xanderâs
words were a little mocking.

After saying that, he added slowly, âYou seem very busy, so I wonât keep you, Mr. Scott. Iâll take care
of Melanie from now on.â
Xander was practically ordering Eugene to leave. Melanie looked at them from the corner of her eye, wordlessly approving of Xanderâs attitude.
Eugene glanced at her without a trace of emotion in his eyes, then turned around and left with Lee.
He walked very quickly. Lee asked in confusion, âMr. Scott, why didnât you tell Melanie that her father has already started spreading rumors about LeapCo? Now, everyone is saying that youâre a heartless scumbag who tricked his daughter. When I called Mr. Walsh just now, he sounded like he wanted to pull out of our agreement.â
News of the dinner between Melanie, Eugene, and Howard last night had long since spread. Spreading rumors was the one thing small midâtier companies like Howardâs did best.
Moreover, Howard was somehow so angry that he almost ended up in the hospital after they left. That was why Eugene had already been labeled as an irresponsible scumbag by that morning.
They even called Melanie an ungrateful and unfilial daughter.
Lee spoke as they walked, his tone unconsciously getting angrier. The worst part was Sam Walshâs hesitation.
Eugene had come to Oskon City for two reasons this time. In addition to working with Qaisas, he was hoping to strike a deal with Sam.
Now, because of Howard, Sam had already rejected them twice.
