Chapter 715
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 715
Xander replied quickly, and it was a volce message. However, it was about Jackson instead of the tender.
It seemed that he was at the site, and he said in a deep voice, âIâve checked. Burning Star Studio has no conflict with other studios. Weâve only taken two
projects in Oskon City. The contracts were signed directly.
âSo, itâs impossible for Harvey to have a reason to make things difficult for the studio.â
Melanie felt something was amiss but did not know what it was.
However, she said nothing. Asking Xander would be pointless as he could not investigate everything. They could only take it one step at a time.
As she was thinking, another voice message from Xander came in. This time, he reminded her, âRest in the hotel after youâre done with the conference. The weather in Oskon City has been bad recently. Iâll head over there once I finish the job.â
He paused before continuing, âWeâll come up with something about Redwaves together.â
Melanie texted a response to Xander. Right then, Yvette tapped her shoulder from . behind. âLetâs go for the dinner.â
She added, âWho are you texting at the corner of the room? Are you afraid Iâll see the messages?â
âXander. Itâs about work.â
The dinner was at Pearl Hotel. Yvette wanted to take a taxi with Melanie, but her boss called her over.
She could only leave.
Melanie knew no one else except for Yvette. She decided to ride in a taxi alone when a black Bentley pulled over in front of her.
When the window rolled down, she did not see Lee but Eugene instead.
He looked calmly at Melanie. âGet into the car. Weâre going to pick Henry up.â
Henry was doing his medical checkâup nearby.
Melanie was worried about Henryâs health, but the report seemed fine. Some of
the test results were high but still within an acceptable range.
Melanie was relieved and accompanied Henry to the hotel. She was expecting to leave with Eugene to Pearl Hotel for the dinner after that, but he parked the car.
She
looked at him. âArenât we going for the dinner?â
Eugene did not seem to care about that. âHow many people do you think will go?â
He sounded certain. Then, he looked at Melanie and asked, âCan you be more aware that youâre pregnant?â
Drinking was not advisable during pregnancy, and one could not avoid drinking during such dinners.
Even if Melanie did not drink, being in that kind of environment was not good for her either.
She said nothing and headed to her room.
When it was time for dinner, Henry called Melanie to join him. Melanie recalled that Hugh was injured and rejected the invitation. Instead, she called the front desk, ordered a meal, and packed up the food in a lunchbox for him. Then, she headed back to her own room to eat.
Before she could finish her food, she received a voice message from Yvette. She was complaining.
âMelanie, how could you dump me? You didnât come, and you didnât inform me about it. Did you know that half of the people didnât come, and I had to face the rest alone?â

Stephenâs call came in before she could put down her phone. His voice was stern, and Melanieâs heart stilled when she heard what he said.
Melanie held the phone silently as she recalled Eugeneâs words. He
âYou have to come back quickly. Viola got a famous lawyer to defend her. She wants to sue you for defamation.â
