Chapter 725
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 725
Luther immediately tapped the glass of water in front of him against the table, creating a sharp sound. Violaâs words got stuck in her throat as Luther gave her a warning glance. âWhat are you blabbering about?â His tone was noticeably displeased,
Lutherâs reputation preceded him, but he was never one to take on urgent cases. If it were not for Matthew making the request, he would never have agreed. Moreover, he looked down on such small
cases.
He directed his gaze to Melanie again, but this time, it was no longer calm. There was a hint of impatience now as he said, âMiss Smith, I advise you to consider this carefully so as to not end up with regrets.â
Melanieâs expression gradually turned cold as she stared at Luther. âMr. Laing, your methods of intimidation are formidable. I hope you can maintain the same demeanor in court,â she said evenly.
âAs for the settlement, I suppose youâre also the one who prepared the one in Oskon City, yes? I threw that one in the trash, and Iâll do the same with this one.â With that, Melanie stood up, grabbed the folder, and tossed it into the nearby trash can. Then, she left the café.
Did he expect her to agree to a settlement? How ridiculous! However, Melanie also knew that this lawsuit would be a battle of the wits. This person Viola mentioned that not even someone like Eugene
dared touchâ¦
Melanieâs eyes darkened, and her lips were pressed together tightly as she returned to the villa.
The next morning, Melanie went to Navair Law Firm as agreed to discuss the case with Zara.
When Melanie arrived, Seraphine happened to be outside. When Seraphine saw her, she smiled and
said, âYouâre here. Miss Henson said you should go straight in when you come. Itâs the same office as
yesterday.â
Without much thought, Melanie went straight over and knocked on the door. When she heard a voice telling her to enter, she opened the door and went. It was then that she realized there was someone
else inside.
At the sound of the door opening, the person looked up, and Melanie instantly met a pair of deep eyes.
She hesitated for a moment, unsure whether to enter or not.
Clocking in on the situation, Zara pushed her glasses up and greeted her, âMiss Smith, please wait a
moment. Mr. Scott and I are just finishing up the final details.â
âIn that case, Iâll wait outside.â
Zara replied, âThatâs alright. No need to waste time. I have two more cases to organize later.â
Melanie blinked and glanced briefly at Eugene before entering. Doubts had begun to form in her mind, but she did not think it was appropriate to voice them now. She just quietly observed him.

Eugene listened to Zaraâs explanation intently. There was a faint blue tinge under his eyes, indicating he had not rested well. With her thoughts weighing on her mind, Melanie settled down beside him.
It was not until Zara called her name that she snapped back to attention. Zaraâs expression was stern. as she addressed Melanie, âMiss Smith, I understand your current state of mind, but I hope you can answer my questions truthfully.â
Melanie nodded. âI will.â
She looked at Zara directly and said, âMiss Henson, last night, Luther Laing approached me and hoped that I would accept a settlement agreement. I refused.â
Zara was not surprised to hear that. âHe always uses such tactics,â she said simply.
Melanie paused, shifting her gaze toward Eugene before continuing, âBut Viola told me the person supporting her is someone even Eugene doesnât dare to touch.â
