Chapter 745
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 745
Melanie lowered her gaze, her expression unchanged. She did not pay much attention to his words.
There were a lot of people here. They were all crowded at the door of Violaâs ward, watching the commotion. She did not want to stay here any longer, so she tried to walk away.
However, someone grabbed her wrist gently. She looked up and met Eugeneâs dark eyes. There was a faint emotion in his gaze as he said, âItâs raining outside.
Melanic stopped in her tracks, confused. She looked at Eugene, wanting to ask him what he meant. The sudden and inexplicable change in his attitude confounded her.
However, before she could say anything, Violaâs mother pushed her way to Eugeneâs side, pleading,â Mr. Scott, Viola was good to you when you were together, wasnât she? Even when she messed up later, she only did it because she was upset with you. You have no idea how depressed she was at home
while you were arguingâ¦â
The woman was so focused on pleading for Viola that she did not care about the people she had shoved aside. Melanie stumbled half a step back. If Yvonne had not caught her in time, she would
have collided with the person beside her.
Yvonne immediately blew up. âMaâam, are you blind? You canât just shove people aside like that! What if anyone gets hurt?! How will you compensate for that?!â
Violaâs mother paled. She mumbled an apology to Melanie and quickly went back to pestering Eugene
again.
Melanie could not be bothered to ask him anything more. She simply left with Yvonne.
After her figure completely disappeared around the corner, Eugene silently pulled his gaze back and looked coldly at the middleâaged woman in front of him.
Violaâs motherâs stuttering voice abruptly cut off. She looked into Eugeneâs eyes and opened her
mouth, but no words came out.
Melanie and Yvonne did not leave the hospital immediately. It was drizzling outside, and Yvonne was afraid that Melanie would catch a cold, so she called for a cab online.
In the meantime, she grumbled under her breath. âNow I know where Viola gets her pretentious
bitchiness from.â
Violaâs mother put up quite the pity act. Yvonne asked Melanie thoughtfully, âDo you think Eugene will give in?â
Melanie did not know either way. All she knew was that the cabbie had not arrived even after ten
minutes.
Yvonne called the driver impatiently, but he said that he was stuck because of a car crash along the way, so he would not be able to make it after all.

Yvonneâs car had just been sent for maintenance yesterday. Coincidentally, Xander was meeting a client that day, and Stephen had other matters to deal with. They were all out of options.
Melanie said, âItâs okay Iâll call another cab.â
Just then, a familiar face approached them.
Lee looked at the luggage in Yvonneâs hands and asked Melanie, âAre you leaving the hospital today?
Yvonne was already in a bad mood. She knew that Lee was Eugeneâs secretary, so she could not help but snap, âWell, dub! Do we look like weâre going for a trip?â
Lee coughed and looked at Melanie awkwardly. âThere was a crash on the freeway. You might not be able to get a cab right now.
Melanie paused. Lee added, âI can send you back. Itâs raining again, after all.â
He paused. âAnd⦠your condition right now is rather delicate.â
Melanie turned him down without a secondâs hesitation. Yvonne said coldly, âYouâll send us back? In Eugeneâs car? And heâll magically show up too?â
Lee wiped the sweat off his brow. âNo, Mr. Scott is still recording his statement with the police, so he wonât be leaving for a while. I can send you back first before coming back to pick him up.
âI believe he wouldnât mind either,â Lee added for good measure.
