Chapter 9
Jews of Eugene and Viola dating soon spread in LeapCo.
Melanie no longer used the presidentâs exclusive elevator. Instead, she went to the office five ninutes early every day and used the common elevator with the ordinary employees.
âhat was because Viola followed Eugene to and from the office.
Jue to a traffic accident that morning, Melanie arrived a little later than usual. When she got o the top floor, she bumped into Viola and Eugene coming out of the elevator together.
âiola held Eugeneâs arm. She had a cute and shy smile on her face, but when she saw Melanie, he was stunned for a moment. Then she smiled sweetly and greeted her. âGood morning, Melanie.â
Melanie glanced at Violaâs hand that was holding onto Eugeneâs arm and said lightly, Morning.â
âiola realized later that she was still hugging Eugeneâs arm. She stuck out her tongue, mmediately let go of him, and looked at him mischievously. âOh, no! Melanie saw us. What hould we do?â
ugene raised his eyebrows and glanced at Melanie. âWhatever.â
Melanie did not want to see them being intimate, so she turned around and went back to her esk. Her high heels made a crisp sound against the polished floor.
he walked a few steps away and could still hear Violaâs coquettish voice saying, âEugene.â
lowever, at noon, Viola came out of Eugeneâs office with a glum face. She stopped in front of Melanie, bit her lip, and said, âMelanie, Mr. Scott is looking for you.
Telanie did not know why Eugene needed her because he had already assigned most of her work to Viola.
eeing that Melanie did not move, Viola urged her. âMr. Scott is waiting for you.â
Ielanie was replying to an email from a customer. When she heard this, she looked up and aid, âIf you canât handle it, I can teach you. Iâm a little busy now.â
iola got the wrong message and became even more upset.
fter Melanie went to see Eugene, she realized why Viola looked so unhappy.
lelanie looked at the rabbit on the desk and quickly averted her gaze. She asked Eugene, renât you afraid that Viola will be jealous if you take me back to Scottâs residence?â
ageneâs father, Cedric, had an upcoming birthday party. Eugeneâs mother, Stella,
out her son dating Viola, so she asked Eugene to bring Viola home.

gene raised his eyelids and looked at her. âMy mother isnât someone Viola can deal with.â
So you want me to suffer in her stead?â Melanie asked.
elanie knew that Stella had high standards for her future daughterâinâlaw because Melanie as humiliated when she went to Scottâs residence for the first time.

But at that time, Eugene did not bother to prepare Melanie when he clearly knew that Melanie would not get away unscathed from such an occasion.
Melanieâs mouth twitched. âWhat if I refuse?â
âYou can.â Eugene did not care much. He spun the pen in his hand and placed it firmly on the table.
Eugene said lightly, âAs long as you think it through.â
Only they understood the meaning of these words. Melanie was silent for a moment before she nodded. âFine.â
On Cedricâs birthday, Melanie went to the parking lot to wait for Eugene after work because they agreed to go there together.
However, Eugene never came.
Eugene did not respond to Melanieâs messages, so Melanie had no choice but to return to the presidentâs office when it was almost time for the birthday dinner.
But no one was inside. Melanieâs face was glum as she asked another colleague who was still working overtime, âWhere is Eugene?â
The colleague was stunned for a moment. âMr. Scott left with Ms. Shaw.â
