Wade talked to Shirley as he looked at her through the rear-view mirror. “Thanks for taking care of my mother. When I returned today, she kept urging me to treat you to a meal. She also praised you for being kind-hearted and beautiful. She even said that it’s hard to find a woman like you these days.”

Although he was passing on his mother’s words, Skyler and Shirley could hear the deeper meaning in his words.
