Chapter 167 An Insincere Offer

Nicholas, who had been drowning in despair, immediately perked up when he heard his mother’s suggestion.

Susan filled him in on the plan she came up with.

“Wouldn’t we be going a bit too far? It’s a crime,” Vince said worriedly.

“How can you say that? Nicholas was such a handsome young man, but look at him now. Caspian disfigured him. He doesn’t even dare to leave the house anymore. What we’re doing is nothing compared to what Caspian did,” Susan insisted.

“I’ll only have the courage to live if I get my hands on Willow. Otherwise, sooner or later, I’ll take my own life!” Nicholas declared.

Having spent all his time inside the house, he had lost a lot of his vigor for life.

“Alright. We’ll do as you suggested, but I’m worried that Willow won’t even agree to work with us,” Vince said.

“Southlake Corporation nearly went bankrupt a while back. Even though they bought over a few companies and managed to stabilize their operations, it’s going to be a huge challenge for them to go up against Glorious Group.

“Our family business is well–established. If Southlake Corporation agrees to work with us, it’ll be very beneficial for the company. Since it involves the company’s interests, I’m sure she won’t reject it!” Nicholas declared with confidence.

He thought Susan’s idea was an excellent one. This was probably his last chance to get his

hands on Willow.

“Fine. We’ll invite Willow to a meeting tonight. Make the preparations, Nicholas,” Vince said.

Inside the CEO’s office at Southlake Corporation, Willow was so busy that her head was

spinning.

Just then, she received a call from an unfamiliar number.

“Hello, who is this?” Willow asked.

“Ms. Stewart? I’m Vince Archer.” The man on the other end of the line introduced himself.

Upon hearing the name, Willow frowned. She knew who he was, of course. Archer Group was a prominent company in Southlake City.

“May I ask why you’re calling?” Willow asked curtly. She assumed Vince was calling to demand

“Archer Group is keen to collaborate with Southlake Corporation, Ms. Stewart. Is Southlake Corporation looking for partners in any of their projects?” Vince asked.

Willow was taken aback. What did the Archers mean by this?

Caspian had ruined Nicholas‘ face. Yet, not only were the Archers not fighting back, but they were even suggesting a potential partnership. Willow could not help but feel skeptical.

“Isn’t Archer Group involved in a project with Glorious Group? Why are you suggesting a collaboration with me?” Willow asked doubtfully.

“We have terminated our partnership with Glorious Group. After all, Southlake Corporation has been established for over a decade. It has a good network of resources. I believe if Archer Group wants to focus on long–term development, it’s better to work with you instead,” Vince stated.

“But my husband disfigured your son. Don’t you want revenge?” Willow said. She did not think they would let the matter slide just like that.

“Let’s not bring that up anymore. Nicholas was in the wrong. Besides, that’s a personal matter. It has nothing to do with business. Since we’re running a company, we should focus on the company’s best interests.

“As long as there’s profit to be made, we can all be friends. I hope you can consider working with us, Ms. Stewart,” Vince said. He had come up with that excuse to persuade Willow.

“It’s good that you think so. As businesspeople, it’s only natural to prioritize the company’s best interests. If you’re keen to work with Southlake Corporation, we can pick a time to discuss the deal in further detail. I’ll be sure to offer the best project to you!” Willow said with a

chuckle.

“Thank you very much, Ms. Stewart. I’m sure Southlake Corporation will soar to greater heights and defeat Glorious Group,” Vince replied.

Even though Southlake Corporation was no longer facing a crisis, its position in the business world would be strengthened if it partnered up with Archer Group.

“By the way, Ms. Stewart, I hope we can meet at Harvest Hotel to discuss the finer details. What do you say?” Vince finally voiced his true intent.

Willow heard of Harvest Hotel before. It belonged to the Archers.

After the incident at Silverstone Hotel, she felt more cautious about going to hotels, especially one that belonged to the Archers.

Truth be told, she did not want to go over there.

However, Southlake Corporation needed more business partners, so in the end, Willow decided to agree to the meeting.

“Alright. Let’s meet at Harvest Hotel at 6:00 pm today,” Willow said after estimating the amount of time she needed to finish up her work.

It would not be safe if she went over any later.

She hoped she would be able to finish the negotiations as early as possible.

“Good. I look forward to working with you, Ms. Stewart!” Vince replied.

Caspian, who had nothing else to do, came to Southlake Hospital again.

Thanks to Avon’s treatment, Lana and Elias were almost fully recovered.

Lana’s mood had improved a lot.

“Caspian, this doctor friend of yours is a miracle doctor! My dad has almost fully recovered from his injury!” Stephanie said in excitement.

She had been accompanying Elias the whole time and seen how he got better each day.

“Let Avon take a look at your mother, too. Now that Mr. Wildman is on the mend, I’m sure Mrs. Wildman is very happy. I’ll try and find a way to let you return to your teaching position.”

Caspian abruptly recalled that Stephanie’s mother, Veronica, seemed to be a little mentally unwell.

“Alright. Thank you, Caspian. Do you think I still have a chance to teach again?” Stephanie asked with a sigh.

“Don’t worry. You’re an excellent teacher. It’d be a great loss to our nation if you don’t get to continue teaching students!” Caspian firmly declared.

“Don’t tease me. Southlake City High School won’t be affected by my absence,” Stephanie said as she shook her head. She did not believe she could go back to her teaching position.

Nevertheless, she was happy that Elias could make a full recovery.

Just then, Caspian received a call from Sylvia. He left the hospital ward to take the call.

She only called when she had important matters to report to him.

Caspian found an isolated spot before answering the call.

“What is it?” he asked.

“Glorious Group has made a move, Caspian! Last night, we tailed the special forces soldiers. from that company, and they went to Dragon’s Hill in the middle of the night!” Sylvia reported.

“Dragon’s Hill? Why did they go there?” Caspian asked puzzledly.

Previously, he and Macy had gone over to Dragon’s Hill to save a young girl.

“It looks like they’re digging for something,” Sylvia replied.

“Digging for something?”

Caspian was stunned.

He instantly recalled the strange tracks he saw at Dragon’s Hill the last time, as well as the dark underground passage behind the thicket.

Could it be that they had gone treasure hunting in Dragon’s Hill? Caspian found it hard to believe that.

The special forces soldiers hidden within Glorious Group came from Tigra. They would not be digging into the mountain for no reason. There had to be some sort of secret behind this!

“Looks like they’re searching for something.” Caspian deduced with conviction.

“I think so, too!” Sylvia agreed.
