⛄ Day 1 ⛄
What Happens at the CCPD
A/N- Alright! I'm in the Christmas Spirit, so I've decided to make a sort of 12 days of Christmas thing.
Day 1: Holiday Fundraiser â
ââââââââââ
Barry grinned as he got dressed that snowy morning. It was the annual Holiday Hospital Fundraiser, where the CCPD and CCFD (Fire Dept.) collected and gave donations to CC General Hospital.
But that wasn't the only thing they did. The police and fire dept. would buy gifts and gift donations and give folks in the hospital a small Christmas gift.
It always made Barry feel happy when he saw peoples' faces light up when they would walk in with their Santa hats on. Especially the children.
That was where Barry spent most of his time. In the children's wing.
So he threw on his "ugly" sweater and his Santa hat and raced out into the snow. He only slipped a few times on the way to the precinct and his face brightened when he saw all the festive decorations inside.
"Is this the only time you are ever going to get to work early?" Captain Singh asked, coming up behind Barry.
Barry grinned sheepishly.
"You did this last year too," Joe said. "And the year before. You are late every single day except this one."
Barry shrugged. He didn't want to say anything for fear that it might be taken the wrong way.
"Are we going yet?" Barry asked, looking like an eager puppy.
The two older men laughed. Barry pouted, succeeding only in making himself look younger.
"We're almost ready Bar, just hang tight." Joe said, patting his shoulder.
"Maybe I should just show up late next year so I don't have to wait for all you slow pokes."
Singh gave him a look.
"Just kidding."
âââââ LINE BREAK âââââ
Barry walked through the hospital with his box of toys for the kids as fast as he could. There was one little girl he couldn't wait to see. She had cancer and basically lived in the hospital for the last two years, this was year three. She would be seven this year.
"Barry!" the little girl's voice cried as he entered the room.
Barry's face lit up, "Morgan!"
He set his box down and carefully hugged the little girl. Her chocolate colored skin shone beautifully and cheerfully underneath the colorful lights the nurses had put up. Jane, the nurse who worked with the kids the most, smiled at Barry, her red hair and freckles sparkling with what Barry was pretty sure was glitter.
Jane helped Barry pass out the gifts and the two preformed a little skit for the kids. The kids giggled gleefully, making Barry's heart light and full of joy.
Winter Wonderland was playing in the background as children munched on Christmas cookies and played with their new toys.
Barry sat by Morgan. He had gotten her a special gift. He had given her an astronaut doll that when she opened the helmet visor up, the doll looked like her. When she took off the helmet, her face just... brightened.
"It's me!" She squealed happily.
Barry laughed, "It sure is."
She threw her arms around him and squeezed him tightly. "Thank you Care Bar," she said, using her specially reserved nickname for him.
Barry rubbed her back, "It was my pleasure Space Queen."
Barry ended his time by reading some of his favorite Christmas stories to the kids. Some of them drifted to sleep and some sat wide awake, soaking in every detail.
When Barry closed the back page of "Twas The Night Before Christmas" most the kids were out like a light. Morgan was too, much to Barry's surprise.
Barry stroked her hand, "Merry Christmas Morgan."
He embraced Jane on his way out.
"You know Barry," she said, "You really make the world a better place. There ought to be more people like you."
Barry blushed a bit and smiled, "Thanks Jane. Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas Barry."
ââââââââââ
A/N- If you couldn't tell, I really like snowmen. They make me happy. âââ
Happy Holidays y'all! Hope you liked this, I know it didn't have much to do with the CCPD, but whatever. There will be more Christmas fluffiness to come! â
Love y'all! â
