Chapter 37 - I Hurt Her

This day, Sheng Youting went to work. Yu Lan stayed home with Qibao. They didn’t go out for the whole morning. Yu Yi came swaggeringly towards the entrance door.

The security startled for one second. Yu Yi raised her hands and fanned herself, seeming to be impatient. It was not the normal scene on her, but the security knew Mr Sheng was willing to do everything to please her. He dare not to snub her. After all, the weather of Ancheng in July was really hot. He opened the door immediately, “Mrs, have you gone out from the back door?”

“Yeah.” Yu Yi answered shortly and walked inside.

Yu Lan went to the kid’s room to look for Qibao when she woke up. However, Qibao was not there. She thought Qibao was taken to the garden by the babysitter, but Qibao was found nowhere after she searched the whole house.

Yu Lan then called Sheng Youting, “Have you been home at noon?”

Yu Lan had never called him before. Sheng Youting was extremely happy to answer it. He was in a meeting when he received the call. However, he walked out and interrupted the meeting without hesitation. He smiled and said in a low yet pleasant voice, “Do you want me back?”

“You haven’t come back?”

Sensing that Yu Lan got nervous upon his answer, Sheng Youting got serious along with her, “What happened? What’s the matter?”

Yu Lan basically knew that Sheng Youting would not harm Qibao after the incident of finding Sheng Youting’s medical records. After the incident, Sheng Youting also explained to her that he was meant to help Qibao exercise by swimming for Qibao’s legs didn’t have enough strength.

She could tell the sincerity in his eyes then. “Lan, you can trust me. I won’t have my own kids and I taught Qibao to call me daddy. I would take her as my own daughter. I won’t harm her for she will be the only daughter I have for my whole life. She resembles you a lot. How am I able to harm her then?”

Yu Lan couldn’t find Qibao. She knew the only one she could turn to was Sheng Youting.

Yu Lan’s voice trembled with a little bit nasal sounds, “Qibao can’t be found everywhere. I searched both the rooms and the garden. Servants also helped me. We looked for Qibao for almost half a day. They said it was me who took Qibao out. However, both me and Qibao were taking a nap at noon. I didn’t remember I had ever taken Qibao out.”

Yu Lan finally burst into tears in the phone. All her pretend calmness fell into pieces. She was nothing but a timid and cowardly woman now, “I don’t know. I forget. Youting, I’m ill again. I’m not a good mom. I don’t want to hurt Qibao. They all told me that it was me who took Qibao out. However, I couldn’t remember it. I must be ill again. Help me find her. Help me. If she could be found, I would never touch her again. I dare not to touch her again. I shall be far away from her. I must have done something bad to her but I couldn’t remember. Maybe I have beaten her when I’m not conscious. I don’t remember…”

Yu Lan cried, gasped, and even rambled as time went by. Sheng Youting pulled his tie and exhaled a long breath, “Lan, don’t worry. I’m here. I will be back soon! Don’t worry!”

Sheng Youting’s phone rang again when he was about to step into the elevator. It was from the bodyguards, “Boss, Mrs took the young lady to the bathroom, but they didn’t get out now. It had been half an hour. I and Biao were waiting outside. So shall we go inside and check?”
