Chapter 11: One Clan- Two Heavenly Prides! Shocked Listeners!On the raised platform, Ning Chuan kept on narrating the tale of the Biography of the Heaven-Emperor with great eloquence and careful attention to detail. While he was engrossed in his storytelling, he couldn’t help but notice two people in the audience who were behaving rather strangely.

Presently, these two were engaged in a hushed conversation.

“No need to rush. Let’s finish hearing the story first,” Iron Mountain, his intense gaze fixed on the platform, responded gruffly.

Iron Mountain, on the other hand, paid him no attention whatsoever. He was completely engrossed in the storytelling.

As the story goes, these two individuals had been sent by Jiang Chenfeng to carry out an assassination on Ning Chuan. They had reached Lin’an City the night before. The original plan was for them to execute the mission on that very night, capitalising on the concealment offered by darkness and the wind. However, Iron Mountain had been adamant about comprehending their target thoroughly, aligning with the principle of understanding both oneself and the adversary for successful warfare. Hence, he had dedicated the night to immersing himself in Ning Chuan’s novel.

Pang Du initially found this reasoning sensible and allowed Iron Mountain to proceed. However, as Iron Mountain immersed himself in the narrative, the night slipped away, and dawn drew near. When Pang Du eventually realised the time, it had become too late to carry out the planned assassination.

The following morning, the two men entered the inn, aiming to identify another opportunity for the assassination.

“Iron Mountain, don’t put the blame on me if things go wrong. This Ning Chuan is the Duke’s designated target. If matters go awry, you’ll bear the consequences,” Pang Du hissed, launching a barrage of threatening words towards Iron Mountain.

Ning Chuan, on the high platform, raised an eyebrow, his attention drawn to the two of them.

“Is something amiss with you two?” he inquired.

The other listeners also shifted their gazes, annoyance evident in their expressions. If they wanted to fight, they should do so outside and not disturb the storytelling.

“Just fooling around, nothing serious…” Iron Mountain’s grip loosened, and he responded casually.

Ning Chuan nodded and resumed his narrative without further probing.

Pang Du, relieved of Iron Mountain’s grasp, seethed with frustration, glaring at Iron Mountain. For now, he dared not utter another word.
