Haaris entered living room to see Safina, Safeer & Naimah were scrolling on their phones.

He sat beside Safeer who was across Safina & Naimah.

He spoke " Kya chal raha hai? Sab itne khamosh kyun hai? "

Safeer replied " Bro it's so boring without you...kab khatm honge tere exams "

Safina said " Yeah Harry hum bore ho rahe hai...aur uss churail ne toh tum par kabsa kar liya hai... I just hate her...iam so glad...maine usko uski aukaat batadi "

Haaris furrowed his eyebrows & asked " Kyun kya hua hai? "

Safina said " You know harry.. Woh kaise Phupo ke saamne drama kar rahi hai roz... Jaise sirf usse hi tumhare exams ki fikr ho...aaj na woh bekar se noodles banakar phupo aur uncle ko impress kar rahi thi... Mai ne bhi na usse bata di- "

Naimah glared at her to keep quiet.

Haaris got up & sat beside Safina & asked her to continue " Ruk kyun gayi saari baat toh batao" & smiled at her.

Safina smiled at him sweetly & said " Maine na French fries banane ka drama kiya aur saara oil uske haath par gira diya...ohh God...you should have seen her expression...the fact that woh kisi ko bol nahi sakti khaskar tumhe kyunki tum usspar yakeen bhi nahi karoge was hilarious " She laughed.

Haaris had no expression on his face...he asked " Tumhare haath ka ghav kaisa hai? "

Safina replied " It's fine...maine zyada nahi kharoocha th- "

Naimah glared hard at her to shut up but the damage was already done.

Haaris questioned her " Yeh inaayat ne nahi kiya tha? "

Safina stayed silent.

Haaris was beyond furious.

He questioned again " YEH INAAYAT NE NAHI KIYA THA? SAFINA?? "

Haaris's loud voice gathered everyone in Living room.

Safina shook her head in No.

Haaris ran his fingers through his hair in frustration.

Haaris asked " Jhoot kyun bola tumne Safina?"

Safina stayed silent.

Haaris took his phone from his pocket & dailed someone.

He spoke " Salam Mamujaan...ji mai theek alhamdulillah... Ji.. Aisi koi khass baat nahi bas kehna tha subah ki train se Safina, Safeer aur Naimah aa rahe hai...mujhe laga inform kardu...wahan dopeher tak honge... Ji... Haan bas woh mere exams hai... Nai unhone kaha ki unhe wapas jaana hai... Haan.. Theek hai Allahhafiz "

He looked at them & said " You know what mujhe tumlogon se zyada khud par gussa aa raha hai... Kyunki kahin na kahin maine hi tumlogon ko itne sheh(as in azaadi) de rakhi thi ki tumlogon ke andar common sense naam ki cheez bhi khatm ho gayi hai "

Haaris continued " Mere aur inaayat ke beech jo hai woh mera aur inaayat ka personal issue hai...i never asked anyone of you to do all this...i didnot give you guys authority to start abusing her physically... soncha kya tumne? Tumlogon ko andaza bhi hai agar usse kuch serious injury hoti toh hum sab ko jail hojati."

Safina shouted back " Kyunki woh meri jagah lene ki koshish kar rahi hai...room lock karke pata nahi kya kart- "

Haaris cut her off & said " Oh my God! Konsi jagah Safina? What do you mean by room lock karke? If you are forgetting she not my sister's friend.. She is my Wife...she can do whatever she wants in this house & in my room "

He added " Apna samaan pack karo aur subah ki train se ghar wapas jao... Don't you dare give me any excuses "

They left to their rooms immediately.

Haaris saw inaayat & his parents watching the entire drama.

He strode to Inaayat who had a flabbergasted expression on her face watching him walk to her.

Haaris moved closer to her & wrapped his arms around her nervously & hugged her.

Inaayat froze in his arms like a statue feeling his body pressed against hers.

Haaris spoke " Iam sorry inaayat...iam really sorry...mai hamari saari badtameeziyan jo shaadi se pehle ki aur shaadi ke baad ki unn sab ke liye sincerely maafi maangta hoon...we were wrong...iam sorry that we made you uncomfortable & iam sorry for hurting you "

Inaayat just stood with expressionless face.

He pulled away from her.

Inaayat immediately turned to leave but stopped when she heard Haaris.

He said " Mai yeh maafi Ahmed bhai ki behen se nahi Apni biwi se maang raha hoon "

Inaayat left without uttering a single word.

Haaris went to his study room to see it was empty... He guessed inaayat might be in his room.

He went back to his studies as he had exams from next day.

Not being able to concentrate since half n hour.. Haaris got up & went to his bed room.

He saw inaayat was folding her clothes & arranging in her suitcase.

He tapped on her shoulder startling her.

Inaayat looked up.. Her eyes widened to see haaris... She quickly got up & thought why he was here. After thinking for a minute she realized that it was dinner time.

She spoke " Mai abhi dinner la-"

Haaris cut her off by holding her hand & dragging her into his study room.

He made her sit & said in childish tone " Woh mujhe akele padhne ki aadat nahi "

Inaayat simply nodded & took the book she was reading & tried to busy herself to calm her heart which was beating crazily in her chest.

Haaris was relieved in her presence.

After sometime inaayat brought dinner... They ate in silence.

Past mid night Inaayat felt drowsy... She got up & went to haaris's room.

She laid down on bed & fell asleep right away.

Haaris felt sleepy after sometime..he went to his room to see inaayat fast asleep on his bed.

He saw her sleeping soundly on his bed after a long time because whenever he went to sleep or woke up she would never be on bed.

He went to his side & laid down on his bed & fell asleep with inaayat's thoughts lingering in his mind.

Next day...haaris got up early & prepared for his exam.

Inaayat prepared his breakfast & placed it on dining table.

Haaris came down quickly & sat on his chair... He ate his breakfast in hurry.

He then kissed his mother's cheeks & said " Allah hafiz Ammi mere liye dua karna "

Rabiya nodded her head with a smile.

He looked at inaayat waiting to hear something or maybe anything from her.

Inaayat cleared her throat & said " All the best Haaris "

Haaris said " Thank you " & Left.

His exams continued for two weeks with 3-4 days gap in each.

Haaris worked hard & studied with full concentration.

Inaayat accompanied him when he studied.

She arranged his materials for his next exam for easy revision.

Haaris was astound to see how all his previous model papers were neatly stapled & arranged saving his time.

Haaris liked her presence...it was soundless but powerful enough to comfort him that he wasn't alone.

Haaris was completely honest & truthful when he apologized to her...he realized it was he who made his cousins so wicked & wrong that they forgot their limits.

He regretted his behavior.

He couldn't imagine what could have happened if safina would go few more steps ahead & put Inaayat's life in danger.

He would die of guilt or his parents would kill him with their bare hands.

He never favored or was fond of the hasty decision of getting married to her.

But when he thought from her perspective...he realized it was equally hard for her & above that he & his cousins hurt her in every way possible making it seem like she wasn't safe in house while he was sure that his sister was safe & happy in her house.

He even talked to his sister - sanam a couple of times & understood that she didn't know anything that was going on here.

Haaris made his mind to atleast give her a safe & comfortable space because that was the least he could do.

In his mind it looked like he was pitying her & doing her a favor but he was unaware of his own motives.

Inaayat's reluctance grew as her heart kept urging her to steal a glance.

His apology was strong ...it made a mark on her heart & broke the walls of her self sabotaging thoughts & changed the way she viewed him.

Sometimes she would find a shawl covering her or a pillow under her neck or a feather like caress on her cheek.

Finally it was Haaris's last exam.

It was tough subject of the semester & above that paper was tough too.

Most of the students left half paper unsolved.

Haaris's friends were waiting for haaris.

& discussing " Yeh kutta likh kya raha hai bhai...mujhse toh chaar paper bharte bharte saari english khatm hogayi aur yeh toh abhi tak laga hua hai "

After half n hour Haaris came out.

His friends - Faraaz, taimur, shahroze, faiza & Anum.

Faiza was Taimur's fiancee.

Taimur started hitting him as soon as he stepped out.

Faraaz joined taimur & asked " Kya likh raha tha kutte? Akhir samajh kya aa raha tha tujhe uss Wahiyat paper mein? "

Haaris replied " Adhe se zyada Paper last ke chapters se aaya tha... Maine woh padha tha toh mujhe jo yaad tha maine likh diya "

Everyone's eyes widened.

Faiza asked " Tu kabse padhai karne laga hai? Khairiyat toh hai? "

Haaris shook his head at their silly questions.

Shahroze said " Haaris galat nahi hai...wakai paper last chapters se banaya hai... Dekho "

He was the silent but smart one in their group.

Everyone checked it & regretted not studying last chapters.

Taimur fake cried & said " Tu badal gaya hai... Tuney humey bataya bhi nahi ki tu itni serious wali padhai karega "

Anum said " Par issne kaha tha humey group mein hum bhi bewakoof the jo iski baaton ko halke mein le liya...waise yeh karishma hua kaise? Tu toh last day tak serious nahi hota "

Inaayat crossed Haaris's mind...he remained silent for a minute then said " Guys maine Nikkah kar liya hai "

Everyone laughed like hyenas.

Faraaz said " Bhai mood acha karne ke liye accha joke tha... Aaise aur suna "

Haaris rolled his eyes & said " Maine sacch mein Nikkah karliya hai.. "

Everyone shouted " What! Kab! Kaise! Itni jaldi! Dawaat!  "

Haaris replied " Thori jaldbaazi mein hua tha sab kuch...issliye maine exams ke baad hi bataane ka soncha " He lied.

His conscience mocked ' exams ke baad?  What a lie! '

They asked " Kisse? Kon? Naam? Kabse affair tha saale?"

Haaris replied " Family friends...Inaayat... No affair... Arranged "

Faiza asked " Tu khush hai?

Haaris found himself nodded his head in yes at her question.

He smiled at his answer.

They said " Waah yaar sahi hai...milaana kabhi hum ghar aayenge "

Haaris said " Haan zaroor milaonga.."

Soon everyone bid goodbyes & left.

Haaris reached home & ran to his mother.

Rabiya was seated in their living room with Inaayat they were watching some drama on TV.

Haaris slumped beside his mother & hugged her tightly & said " Ammi finally mere exams poore hogaye "

Rabiya hugged him back & said " Haye shukar Allah ka... Mere sarr par azaab tha inn manhoos papero ka "

Haaris said to his mother " Ammi bhook lagi hai "

Rabiya said " Mai abhi tere liye khana laati hoon "

Haaris replied " Ammi haath se khilaogi toh hi laana "

Inaayat chuckled hearing his request.

Rabiya said " Uff kab khatm hoga yeh bachpana tera " She shook her head at his childish antics nevertheless nodded & left.

Haaris looked at inaayat who was looking everywhere but him.

He went close to her & sat beside her.

Inaayat froze when she felt his arms wrap around her.

Haaris softly said " Thank you inaayat "

Inaayat was too stunned to respond to him.

She hoped that haaris wouldn't hear her heart which was beating like crazy because she knew for him she was just a charity case that he married because of his sister.

He pulled away from her.

Inaayat just nodded her head in reply & ran to kitchen.

Haaris had a big smile on his face watching her face red.

Rabiya brought him lunch & fed him while inaayat went back to his room to not be near him.

Haaris went out for some work & came back after an hour to his room searching for Inaayat.

He found inaayat chatting on her phone...he could easily guess who it was.

Sanam & Ahmed were on their honeymoon hence Sanam was eating everyone's brains asking what they wanted in gift.

Inaayat was hmming to everything sanam was saying.

Her mind was stuck on something her brother told.

Few days ago inaayat received Sanam's call.

She picked it up immediately.

Ahmed spoke " Ini tera aur Haaris ke passports tayar rakh maine tickets book karni hai "

Inaayat asked " Kaise tickets bhai? "

Sanam screamed excitedly " Honeymoon ke tickets "

Color left from inaayat's face hearing honeymoon.

Inaayat stayed silent for a minute then said " Bhai Haaris ke exams hai... I don't think hum kahin jaa payenge "

Ahmed said " Haan pata hai mujhe...isiliye agle mahine ki book kar raha hoon... Mujhe sab pata hai ini "

Inaayat said " Okay bhai mai poochti hoon "

Inaayat decided she is going to give an excuse that she lost her passport so that they could avoid the honeymoon.

After talking to sanam for sometime... She bid bye & disconnected the call.

She saw Haaris who looked like he was waiting for her to cut the call.

Haaris went & sat near her legs making her move her knees close to her chest awkwardly.

Haaris cleared his throat & said " Inaayat kya tum mere saath dinner par chalogi? "

Inaayat looked at him as if he asked for a kidney.

Haaris quickly spoke " Hum car se jayenge don't worry... Promise mai dheere chalaonga "

Inaayat thought for sometime & said " Mai Ammi se pooch- "

Haaris cut her off & said " Maine Ammi se poochliya hai..."

Inaayat sighed & nodded her head.

Haaris said " Okay than tayar ho jao mai abhi aata hoon " & left.

Inaayat nervously got ready for the dinner.
