Chapter 27

Small gestures and Deep emotions

Falling for my wife

Yamini ji, glaring at Tanishk in anger, thought to herself,

"I will deal with you and your mother... Today, you tried to create a fight between my son and me, didn't you? I'm sure your mother has taught you all this! I won't let either of you go so easily..."

Thinking this, she kept staring at Tanishk in anger before shifting her focus back to the television.

At Dinner Time,

Everyone was seated in their respective chairs, having dinner. Meanwhile, Sarika was feeding Tanishk and Adhik with her own hands.

After finishing their dinner, Sarika took them to their room and asked them to sleep. But Tanishk, with an innocent expression, said,

"Mumma, tomorrow is Saturday, right? And we have a holiday too… so can we watch a horror movie tonight? Please, Mumma!"

Adhik, nodding in agreement, also made an innocent face and said,

"Yes, Mumma, please… today we will watch a horror movie with you and Papa. It will be so much fun! Please, Mumma!"

Sarika smiled slightly, gently cupped their cheeks, and said,

"Alright, let's go to the room."

Hearing this, Tanishk and Adhik excitedly ran towards Adrijay and Sarika's bedroom.

Sarika let out a deep sigh and followed them. She asked them to set up the movie and then quickly went downstairs to finish the kitchen chores.

---

A while later in the Kitchen, Adrijay entered the kitchen after some time. Seeing him, Sarika lowered her gaze and asked,

"Do you need anything?"

Adrijay shook his head and replied,

"No, I’ll take it myself. You continue with your work. And listen, finish up quickly… the kids are waiting for us."

Sarika nodded and continued cleaning the counter. Meanwhile, Adrijay took a pot of milk from the freezer, placed it on the stove, and turned on the gas. He added some dry fruits and honey for taste, letting it heat up.

Once the milk was warm, he poured it into a glass and placed the glass in a bowl of water to cool it down.

Sarika, while doing her work, kept glancing at him, wondering, "For whom is he heating the milk? Maybe it's for himself? He might be hungry?" Thinking this, she continued with her work.

When the milk had cooled slightly, and Sarika was about to leave after washing her hands, Adrijay held her wrist and stopped her.

"Wait, finish this first."

Saying this, he handed her the glass of milk.

Sarika looked at him in surprise and asked,

"For me?"

Adrijay nodded,

"Of course. You didn’t eat dinner, right? I know you don’t eat anything while fasting, so I thought you should have this milk to gain some energy. You work the entire day, and you need this. I even added dry fruits so that you won’t feel weak. Now drink it and tell me how it tastes."

He gestured for her to take the glass.

Hearing his words, Sarika looked at him in astonishment. It wasn’t like Adrijay never cared about her meals—he always had breakfast and dinner with her and ensured she ate properly—but he had never made something for her himself. This was the first time he had made such an effort, and she was both surprised and overwhelmed.

Her eyes welled up slightly, but she quickly lowered her gaze to hide it. She took the glass from his hand and was about to bring it to her lips when Adrijay suddenly held her by the shoulders and started leading her out of the kitchen.

Sarika looked at him in shock.

Outside, he made her sit on a chair and said,

"You shouldn’t eat or drink while standing. Now, quickly finish this. We have to go upstairs too… the kids must be waiting for us."

Sarika lowered her eyes and nodded before quietly drinking the milk. Meanwhile, Adrijay watched her with a soft smile.

After finishing, Sarika moved the glass away from her lips and glanced at him. But when she met his intense gaze, she couldn't handle its warmth and immediately stood up to leave.

Just then, Adrijay grabbed her wrist and said,

"Listen, just leave the glass here. You can wash it tomorrow."

Without turning back, Sarika shook her head and said,

"No, we shouldn’t leave dirty dishes overnight. Goddess Lakshmi doesn’t enter such homes. You go ahead; I’ll just wash this and come."

Saying this, she freed her hand from his grip and walked back to the kitchen.

Adrijay watched her go, smiling to himself while thinking about her words. He then stayed there, waiting for her to return.

On the other side, Sarika washed the glass and the empty pot, wiped them, and placed them on the stand. She then washed her hands, turned off the kitchen lights, and stepped out.

Seeing Adrijay still standing there, she averted her gaze and said,

"You go ahead, I’ll just lock the door."

But Adrijay walked up to her, held her hand, and started leading her toward the stairs.

"I already locked it and turned off the lights. Are your excuses over now, or do you have more?"

He raised an eyebrow while saying this, looking at her playfully.

Sarika remained silent, lost in her thoughts.

"He has been acting strangely for the past few days… and he says I’m making excuses?"

"Sometimes I feel like trusting him… but what if he breaks my trust again like last time? What will I do then?"

"No… I should talk to him less and stay away from him. That would be better for both of us. Anyway, the only ones who matter to me are my children. No one else in this house loves me or understands me. So, I will only think about my kids. Yes, that’s the right thing to do."

"But… what about my heart, which keeps making a noise every time he does these little things? It doesn’t want to melt, yet it is melting… even though it knows it will only break in the end. Still, it is falling in love again…"

"Is it really that easy to fall in love? Just a little care from someone who once ignored you… and love happens?"

"I don’t know what love is… how it happens… but I do know that it only brings pain and suffering… nothing else."

She let out a deep sigh, and only then did she realize that, lost in thought, she had already reached their bedroom.

Adrijay looked at her and asked,

"Where are you lost? Come, sit."

Sarika nodded and sat next to Tanishk, pulling the blanket over herself and the kids since the air conditioner was on.

Adrijay also sat beside Adhik, covering himself with a blanket, and asked, "So, which movie are we watching?"

Tanishq excitedly replied, "Papa, 1920: Evil Returns!"

Hearing the movie's name, Sarika silently started remembering Bajrang Bali, as this movie always scared her.

When Adrijay asked, Adhik also agreed with Tanishq, so Adrijay played the movie and turned off the lights.

Sarika, feeling scared, clutched Tanishq tightly, prompting him to ask, "What happened, Mumma? Are you scared?"

Forcing a smile, Sarika shook her head in denial, but Tanishq understood everything. He said, "Mumma, come sit between Bhaiya and me. Bhaiya wants to sit next to you, and I do too. So come on, sit in between us!"

Hearing this, Sarika wasted no time and quickly sat between Adhik and Tanishq. Seeing her speed, even Adrijay paused for a moment, looking at her before shaking his head and focusing on the screen again.

A while later, when a particularly scary scene appeared, Sarika closed her eyes and started softly reciting the Hanuman Chalisa.

Adrijay, noticing this, couldn't help but chuckle. When Sarika opened her eyes and saw him laughing, she felt embarrassed and immediately hid her face under the blanket, lying down.

Seeing her childish reaction, Adrijay just smiled and then looked at his two sons. Adhik, scared, had already snuggled under the blanket with Sarika, while Tanishq was still enjoying the movie. Adrijay shook his head in amusement and continued watching.

By the time the movie ended, Sarika and Adhik had fallen asleep, wrapped in each other’s arms, but Tanishq was still awake. Seeing this, Adrijay turned off the TV and called him over. Tanishq climbed down from his spot and walked straight to Adrijay, getting onto the bed.

Adrijay picked him up, lay down with him, and held him close to his chest. He gently ran his fingers through Tanishq’s hair, trying to put him to sleep, but Tanishq wasn’t sleepy at all. So, Adrijay started telling him a story, and soon, both of them drifted into slumber.

The Next Morning,

As usual, Sarika woke up at four in the morning, bathed, and first cleaned the temple before performing Mata Rani’s puja. After offering bhog to the deity, she stepped into the courtyard, where many trees and plants adorned the space. She first worshiped Tulsi Mata and then started watering all the plants.

Once she was done, she smiled, admiring the greenery, when her eyes caught sight of the rising sun. Folding her hands, she closed her eyes and bowed in respect to Surya Dev. After this, she walked to the kitchen and started preparing breakfast.

By around seven o’clock, everyone had finished their morning prayers and was seated at the dining table. Excitedly, Adhik called out to Sarika, "Mumma, what’s for breakfast today?"

Sarika stepped out with a smile and placed plates in front of him and Tanishq. Seeing the pizza, both of them squealed in joy and hugged her, exclaiming, "We love you, Mumma!"

Smiling, Sarika caressed their heads and said, "Alright, finish this quickly, and don’t forget to drink your milk too!"

Adhik nodded and happily started eating, but at the mention of milk, Tanishq made a face. He knew that Sarika would only give him dry fruit milk in the morning, which he didn’t like at all. He preferred chocolate milk, but what could he do? Poor Tanishq pouted but still began eating his breakfast.

Watching the three of them, Adrijay and Devansh smiled, while Yamini ji and Vishakha frowned, eating their food without saying anything.

Sarika sat beside Tanishq, taking some fruits in a bowl and eating them.

Noticing that she was only eating fruits, Adrijay took a deep breath, ate a little, and then got up, telling the kids to finish quickly and come to his room. It was a holiday, and as per his routine, Adrijay first taught them their lessons before playing with them.

After breakfast, both boys grabbed their books and notebooks and went straight to Adrijay’s room.

Devansh had some important work at the court, so he left, though he planned to return in three to four hours.

Meanwhile, Vishakha and Yamini ji sat together watching a Pakistani drama, and Yamini ji instructed Sarika to do the laundry before joining them.

Sarika first finished the kitchen chores and then stepped into the courtyard, sighing at the pile of clothes. Filling a tub with detergent water, she sat on a stool and began washing them one by one.

A while later, Adrijay came looking for her and found her in the courtyard. Standing before her, he said, "Sarika, I need to talk to you."

Without looking up, Sarika continued washing clothes and replied, "Not now. Let me finish this work first, then we’ll talk."

Adrijay sighed, then picked up the tub full of washed clothes and asked, "Where should I put this?"

Sarika looked at him in surprise. Raising an eyebrow, Adrijay repeated his question. Without another word, she got up and led him to the spot where the clothes needed to be placed.

Setting the tub down, Adrijay began hanging the clothes one by one on the line.

Alarmed, Sarika rushed to him, trying to take the clothes from his hands. "Wait, wait! Why are you doing this?" she asked.

Taking the clothes back, Adrijay calmly replied, "If you can work while fasting, then why can't I? Now, just keep washing the rest. I’ll hang these."

With that, he continued hanging the clothes.

Sarika stood still, gazing at him with affection.

Just then, Yamini ji walked past and saw Adrijay helping with the laundry. Glaring at him in anger, she stomped away.

Meanwhile, Adrijay’s eyes landed on a particular piece of clothing. Holding it up, he examined it closely.

"This looks like Dev’s shirt… What is it doing here?" he muttered.

Confused, Sarika replied, "I washed it. So, of course, it’s in the tub to be dried."

Still looking at the shirt, Adrijay turned to her and asked, "That’s what I’m asking. Why did you wash it?"

Perplexed, Sarika answered, "Well, I always do, don’t I? If not me, then who else will wash it?"

Taking a deep breath, Adrijay controlled his rising frustration. Without another word, he threw the shirt back into the tub, grabbed Sarika’s hand, and began pulling her away.

Sarika, now worried, thought to herself, What did I do wrong now? Where is he taking me? Oh, God, please make everything alright…

Guys, one more thing, many people are saying that this story is similar to different stories. But I just want to say that I haven't read any such stories. I got to know about Wattpad from Instagram, and after that, I started writing on this. I haven't actually read much on this platform because I have my studies, and I don’t have enough time to read stories. This story is entirely from my imagination, and one more thing, I’ve included scenes that I have personally witnessed. So, I haven’t written anything from any other story. Maybe you are noticing some similarities, but the fact is that this story solely belongs to me and my imagination. I understand your perspective, but I assure you that this story is my own work. While it's possible that some themes or elements may overlap with other stories, I have created this piece independently and have put my own unique spin on it. I hope everything is clear now.
