Chapter 513: The Eyes That See
Villain: Ultimate Mutation System in the Alternate World
With the formalities out of the way, Draven leaned back in his chair, settling in for a longer conversation.
His piercing eyes focused on Reign, and despite his friendly tone, there was an intensity behind his gaze that demanded honesty.
Knowing the Demon God could easily pick up on lies, Reign decided to drop any pretense and speak more freely about what he knew of Lilith.
It wasnât like he would gain anything by hiding things from her; he genuinely hated herâso much so that he vowed to make her death as painful as possible.
There were things Reign could tolerate, but betrayal was never one of them. He had been betrayed since he was a young boy, so Lilithâs actions didnât just bruise his egoâthey cut much deeper.
He might appear easygoing and unaffected now, but that was just his defense mechanism
"Iâll be honest, . When I met her, she was already building an army. Sheâs the type who relies on numbers to cover her own weaknesses. So, the chances of her opening the gates of hell arenât just highâtheyâre absolutely gonna happen."
Dravenâs expression grew darker, his eyes narrowing as he absorbed this words.
"Then weâre out of time," he murmured, more to himself than to Reign. "If sheâs really that type, we have no choice but to prepare for the worst."
"I think so too. And itâs not just that," Reign continued. "I overheard something about this miasma spreading around the worldâitâs apparently a copy of something from hell. If thatâs true, it wouldnât be surprising if they could use it to their advantage."
Reign continued sharing details about Lilith, exaggerating every flaw and twisted motive to paint her in the worst light possible.
He described her schemes as ruthless and manipulative, highlighting every instance he could recallâreal or embellished. If he earned a coin for every accusation he made, heâd be rich by now.
The Demon God listened closely, his face growing darker with each new detail.
Reignâs steady stream of accusations against Lilith struck a nerve, feeding the demon godâs doubts and hardening his decision to stand against her.
Draven had considered talking to Lilith first, thinking he might be able to strike some kind of deal with her. Devils were known for making deals, after all.
But after hearing Reignâs account of her actions, his view totally changed.
"Youâre really hated her, huh?" Draven asked, his tone slightly amused but also curious. "What she took from you must be really important."
"They are...." he admitted .
Sensing the spike in Reignâs emotions, the Demon God decided to probe further to gain a better understanding.
"How did she fool you?"
âFool me? This old man is trying to make me sound like an idiot,â
Reign clicked his tongue in annoyance, but he kept his poker face intact.
"Back then, she acted so considerate, almost too good to be true for a devil, if Iâm being honest.... But it was all a lie. Everything she did was to trick me."
A flicker of irritation crossed his face just imagining what she did.
Draven gave a slow nod, "A devil who knows how to manipulate emotions is even more dangerous than one who only knows brute force. You were right to be angry."
âGot you,â
Reign chuckled inwardly.
Although the ring could detect lies, it didnât seem to completely discern half-truths or nuanced statements from his observations.
Testing his theory, he slipped in another comment. "Youâre right. I would rip her apart if I see her,"
He was technically not lying, so the ring reacted immediately, its glow intensifying for a brief moment.
"Youâll have plenty of chances now that youâve joined the Alliance," Draven reassured.
When their conversation ended, the Demon God was satisfied by all of the answers.
Reignâs hatred and conviction to eliminate Lilith had come across strongly, and it built a solid foundation of credibility in the demon godâs eyes.
"Good. I see youâre fully committed to this."
"I am,"
"I know, I believe you," Draven let out a casual laugh.
He then tossed the artifact into the air. "I canât let you have it, but you can check it out."
âSystem, analyze this thing!â
Reign quickly ordered, while pretending to carefully observe and study the artifact.
He noticed a button on the side and, after pressing it, the object clicked open. It revealed an old golden compass.
However, the hands werenât moving in any direction, remaining frozen in place.
Draven watched closely, not really expecting much. He knew full well that the artifact could no longer be fixed.
When he was done, he handed the compass back . The system had fully analyzed it, and the results were intriguing.
There were several details he needed to go over in his own time, but one thing was clearâthe artifact had far more to it than met the eye.
"So, whatâs next for me ?" Reign asked.
"For now, stay in the capital. This way, we can contact you right away once we get news about Lilith."
"Sure," Reign nodded, not minding at all. His other body could still be out farming, so staying wouldnât be a problem.
With that settled, Reign left the room and found Elizabeth and the others waiting for him, all of them standing patiently.
They all now showed more respect, their demeanor noticeably more serious than before.
Even Lyra, who usually expressed herself freely, didnât dare act out now, especially with the knowledge that he was a 3-star general.
As for Anna, though, his new status didnât change her behavior in the slightest. She still clung to him like a magnet, completely unaffected by his rank.
"Reign, letâs go to my place," she urged, her tone as cheerful and persistent as ever. From time to time, she would slip back into her more immature side. Read new chapters at empire
"Youâre place?" he raised his eyebrows.
Elizabeth stepped in. "Let me explain. All Demon Lords and above have their own estates in the capital, and yours just happens to be close to Anna,"
"Can I still change location?" he asked, his tone a bit wary.
The last thing he wanted was to be stuck so close to Anna, especially with how clingy she was.
Elizabeth gave him a small, knowing smile. "It would be easy. But then again, it might be useless because she would just follow you around anyway."
Reign sighed, realizing she was probably right. No matter where he went, itAnna would find a way to be right there with him.
âGuess thereâs no escaping it then for nowâ
he muttered, resigned to his fate.
Meanwhile, back in the council room, Draven has a very serious expression.
The recent conversations had only confirmed his concerns about Lilith, and he knew that time was running out.
Out of nowhere, the space around the room shifted, and a woman materialized before him.
She had a humanoid form, but her whole body was covered in countless red eyes, all moving in unison.
Each eye blinked and darted in different directions, giving her a terrifying and almost alien appearance.
"Are you sure itâs him?" Draven asked.
The woman tilted her head slightly, and her dozens of gazes turned onto him.
"Yes," she replied in a voice that echo, as though it came from multiple sources at once. "It is him. The one that could save this world"
"But heâs still too weak. I donât think he could even last a second against Lilith,"
The womanâs eyes started moving erratically again, each one darting in a different direction, creating a disturbing and chaotic sight. Then, in an instant, they all stopped in unison.
"No matter what I do, I can only see this future," she said, her voice carrying an eerie calmness now. "That entity is the key for saving mankind... and our demon race."
Dravenâs expression hardened. He didnât like the idea of betting on an unknown variable. "Are you sure? Thereâs no other option?
The woman nodded slowly. "I am certain. No matter the path, he is tied to both destruction and salvation. What we need to do is make him our ally."
Draven remained silent, processing her words. His mind raced through all the possible options.
The Demon God in front of him was Visara, and while she might not have the same raw combat power as the others, her prophetic ability was unparalleled.
Her visions had been accurate time and time again, earning her a reputation that even the most powerful demons respected.
In fact, even their meeting had been predicted by her.
She had told him long before that he would encounter a very interesting personâSomeone who would challenge him, who wouldnât be afraid to stand up to him.
And that was indeed Reign.
"Now that youâve seen the future unfold⦠do you have any clue where Lilith is hiding?"
Visaraâs countless eyes flickered, a subtle sign that she was concentrating.
"I canât track her. Sheâs using a barrier to hide her exact location."
He half expected as much, so he wasnât as disappointed as one might think.
"Draven, I must remind you, side with that entity no matter what...or else..."n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
