CH 31: You Idiot Son Of Mine!
Glazed Doughnuts
*4 MONTHS LATER*
Gulf was in a meeting with the board members. They were discussing the annual progress and budget. Mew had resigned from his post as he wanted to give all his attention to his health and give all his time to their kids once they were born. He was already in his ninth month and his date was due in two weeks. Fon started to stay home to take care of Mew personally. Mew's cravings were only now getting worse.
He wanted to eat food combinations he had never desired before. Mew would eat red chilies, something he hated, with chocolate sauce. He would eat fruits with tomato ketchup. Sushi with peanut butter. You name the weird combination and the pregnant Mew would be drooling over it. Not only this but the timings he wanted all this was the craziest. Mew would wake in the middle of the night and want KFC-style chicken from McDonald's. He would crave chocolate ice-cream with fish sauce while Gulf was making love to him. And Gulf could never refuse his pregnant Doughnut.
Mew, thankfully, did not have crazy mood swings. All he would ever feel was hungry, sleepy, happy, or horny. And Gulf could bear with this much as he had seen Mew on his periods and his angry side. He found this pregnant side of him rather more lovely and easier to handle than the one on periods somehow. Gulf loved to see Mew walking around like a penguin. Gulf loved to kiss Mew's bump, that was the first thing he did when he was home. Gulf loved to talk to his peanuts. They decided to not find out the gender as they wanted to keep it a surprise till they were born.
Fon was rooting for all girls as she felt that the family was in dire need of more females, herself being the only one. March wanted to have all grandsons as then he could teach them how to flirt and capture hearts. Mew and Gulf were just waiting for them to be born. They were fine with the babies being whatever until they were healthy.
Gulf was trying to keep concentrated on the presentation when he heard Fon squeak. He frowned and looked at the clumsy girl beside him. "Bos- ss, P'Mew, he- he is-" Wan was trying to speak but couldn't. Gulf got worried upon hearing Mew's name. He slammed his fists on the table, "What happened to him?!" Everyone looked at him, shocked. "He's in labor! Chairwoman texted me from P' Mew's phone that they're already on their way to the hospital," Wan showed Gulf her phone's screen. Gulf was startled, he did not know what to feel. He was happy, anxious, excited, and many more undefined emotions.
Gulf could not decide if he should just leave or should he wait for the meeting to end, it was almost over anyway. Gulf wanted to rush to Mew as fast as he could. But he did not want to anger Mew. Mew would be angry if he found out that Gulf left a meeting hanging just to rush to him. Even during his pregnancy, Mew always urged Gulf to go to work. He did not want Gulf to miss work and pile loads of it because he was busy taking care of him. Gulf was stuck in his standing position, contemplating if to leave or wait.
"Go, son. A father should not miss out on his child's first cry," Mr. Thanit urged him with a smile. He had been friends with Gulf's family for a long time and was like a second father to Gulf. March stood up too, "Let's go, Gulf. Your mother would kill us if we don't reach there soon." Gulf smiled at his father and Uncle Thanit before turning to Wan. He told her, "Shift this meeting to some other day. Meeting adjourned."
Gulf ran out of the building and to his car. March followed suit and they left for the hospital hurriedly. The whole ride long, Gulf could not believe that they were finally having their babies today. That he could hold his babies in his arms and talk to them directly instead of talking to Mew's belly. That he could get to kiss all the three directly and not through a huge belly being a barrier between them.
He was beyond happy. His excitement couldn't be measured.
***HOSPITAL***
As the hospital came in sight, Gulf's happiness was starting to get invaded with panic and anxiety. Gulf and March ran inside the building. Lila, a house helper, was waiting for them near the entrance. They followed her.
"Here you are! You idiot son of mine!" Fon yelled. "Mom, where's my Doughnut?" Gulf asked, panicking. "Inside already, they're about to begin," Fon told him. Gulf could hear Mew's screams of pain. And he felt so guilty.
He felt guilty for impregnating his love because he could not bear Mew's screams. He regretted that they were to have triplets. Mew must be in so much pain. Gulf had read in some articles that childbirth was painful enough to cause death in some cases. Gulf was scared to lose Mew. He dropped to the floor, losing all his strength. Guilt and worry swirling in his mind. If he lost Mew today, it would all be his fault. Gulf would go insane if anything happened to Mew. He would not be able to live any longer.
Dr. Copter approached them in surgical attire. "Does anybody want to accompany the patient inside?" Copter asked. Fon looked at Gulf who was already on the floor, going crazy. She looked at her husband, "Take care of Gulf." Then she turned to Copter, "I'll go in for Mew." Copter nodded.
It had been half an hour since Fon had gone in but still no sign of it all ending. Mew was still screaming. This was only scaring Gulf more. "Dad, what if something happens to Mew?" Gulf asked. He was staring into the void. The tears weren't falling out anymore. He did not know what to feel. He was torn between the excitement of finally getting to hold his babies in his arms and the fear of losing his one and only love. "Mew is strong, nothing will happen to him," it was not March's voice. Gulf looked up and saw his best friends. Yibo was standing there with his fingers entangled to his boyfriend Zhan, and Off was squatting down to his level with Gun, his fiancee, standing behind him.
"I called Yibo. Maybe your friends will help you calm more," March smiled at his son. "I seriously ended my date when Copter called me saying Mew's in labor," Off scoffed. One thing Off hated, being disturbed when he was on a date with his love, Gun. This stupid remark made Gulf smile a little. Yibo sat beside him and pat his back, "I called Win and Wan to come. Wan was crazily worried after you left." Gulf frowned, "What for?" Yibo sighed, "They're the only friends Mew had for years. They're like his family. Of course, they have the right to come to see their big brother have children! Does becoming a father make you this stupid?" March glared at him, "What do you mean, Wang Yibo?" Everyone laughed at how Yibo swallowed air.
Yibo and Off were trying to play the fools to make Gulf smile when a cry was heard. Gulf's ears perked up, "Wa- was that m- my-" he could not continue the sentence when he saw Off nodding at him. Tears fell down his face nonstop. After another hour or so, three cries were echoing in their ears.
After a while, Copter came out with a smile. "Two girls and a boy. Mother and children are all safe and healthy," Copter announced to the six men and two people who just approached.
Gulf could not help smiling like crazy. He did not lose his Doughnut. "We're shifting him to a private room. We'll bring the babies there when Mew gains consciousness," Copter said as they saw Mew being wheeled out. Gulf turned to the latecomers, "What took you both so long?" Win scratched his nape, "Wan just won't calm down. She was going crazy so it took time for me to calm this girl down." Wan gave her usual cocky smile. "What matters is they came," Fon said from behind the crowd.
Gulf hugged his mother tight. "Your husband almost fainted in the first baby itself. But he somehow pulled through till the last one. How do you endure his screams, huh?" Fon knitted her brows. "Yeah, he was screaming like freaking banshee!" Yibo exclaimed. For the first time, Gulf felt embarrassed about this matter. "Let's go to Mew's room. We'll wait there for him to wake up," March urged everyone.
Gulf immediately sat beside the unconscious Mew and kissed him on the temple. He held Mew's hand tightly. "We'll leave," Gun said as he urged Off, Yibo, Zhan, Win, and Wan to leave the family alone. "Do you want to stay in the hospital till Mew recovers?" Fon asked with her hand on Gulf's head, gently patting it. Gulf nodded like a kid. "Then we'll leave and get some clothes for you," March said. Gulf smiled at them as they left.
Gulf continued staring at Mew. He traced the outline of Mew's face. He ran his finger gently from Mew's forehead to his high nose then, on the thin pink lips that he loved to savor. Gulf found Mew's eyelashes strangely more gorgeous today.
The door opened and three nurses wheeling a cradle each entered. Copter came in after they left. "He's still not awake?" Copter asked to which Gulf just shook his head. "Let's have a talk then?" Copter said with a smile and sat beside Gulf. "You need to be more careful from now on. A lot of restrictions regarding almost everything," Copter sighed. Gulf stared at him. "You both can't have intercourse till Mew's stitches heal completely. And it can take a month or two," Copter told him. "Anything is fine by me as long as Mew and our babies are safe and healthy," Gulf said with determination.
"This was my first case of male pregnancy. And I'm glad it went well and without a single complication," Copter was proud of himself. "Truthfully, I was scared shitless out there. I thought I would lose Mew," Gulf said with traces of tears in his eyes. Copter smiled at him again, "Mew thought he might die too. He was screaming like a banshee, not gonna lie. But then he said he won't let his kids be without a mother and just endured all the pain. He even tried to suppress his screams and finally fainted after pushing out the youngest one out." Copter smiled at him, "I think you're going to be a great father." Gulf smiled, "I hope I can prove to be so."
"Gulf?" Mew called in a weak voice. Gulf turned back to look at him, "Doughnut, are you feeling okay? Does it hurt anywhere?" Mew smiled at him weakly, "I'm fine, but it hurts near my stomach" Gulf nodded. "Bear with that pain, it's due to the stitches down there," Copter said as he got up. "I promise baby, I'll never get you pregnant ever again. You don't know how scared I was that I might lose you," Gulf said as he gave Mew raspberry kisses all over his face. Mew smiled at him and put his hand on Gulf's nape.
Copter wheeled all the three cribs near Mew's bed. "Aren't they so beautiful, hubby?" Mew asked Gulf as Copter handed their son to Mew. "They have such a beautiful mother, they are bound to look beautiful," Gulf said as he kissed both his daughters on their tiny foreheads. Then Copter asked, "What are you gonna name them?" Gulf looked at Mew. Mew said, "Just say what we planned, hubby."
They named their eldest daughter Sammy. She had Gulf's look. Big eyes, button nose, plump lips, and slightly tanned skin. The second born was their son, Solo. He had Gulf's eyes and nose, and Mew's thin lips and pale skin. He was the perfect balance of both their looks. The youngest princess was named Becca. She had her mommy's fair skin and looks with her eyes that were a mixture of both her parents.
Mew could not believe that he gave birth to these fragile beautiful dolls. Gulf felt so complete. He had the love of his life. He had kids with the love of his life. Nothing could be better than this. This is what heaven looked like for Gulf and Mew.
*MEW'S 34th BIRTHDAY*
Mew was sleeping peacefully. His body stretched all over the bed after a hot night-time quickie. Handling three kids was not an easy task at all. He resigned from his job and became a housewife. He wanted to give his children all the love he had missed in his own childhood. And Gulf was supportive of all his decisions though he always complained that he missed Mew in the office.
The dim moonlight hitting his face through the window was blocked suddenly. And he felt something crawling on his body. When he opened his eyes, he saw his children all around him, showering his face with wet kisses. "Happy biltday momma," Solo said as he hugged Mew's neck. Mew smiled. "Appy birray mama!" Becca said between kisses. "Happy birthday ommy!" Sammy, the eldest beamed a cute smile. All three of them had their own way of calling their mother. Mew caged all three of them in a hug and kissed them all. "Thank you, babies," Mew said while still showering the three giggling toddlers with kisses.
The room's door swung open and Gulf entered. "Happy birthday, Doughnut!" Gulf said with his handsome smile. Mew stretched out an arm for him to join the hug. Gulf got on the bed and Mew laid his head on his husband's chest as the three kids were straddling above them. "I love you," Mew said to Gulf. Gulf smiled and kissed his head, "I love you too."
The kids were getting drowsy again. They had woken up in the middle of the night just to be the first ones to wish their mother a happy birthday. "Sleep now, puppies. Daddy will wake you up in the morning," Gulf kissed them all good night. The triplets nodded and drifted to their respective dreamlands.
"Where's my happy birthday kiss?" Mew asked with a fake pout. Gulf smirked and connected their lips together, "There it is. Now sleep, we have to visit your mother in the morning." Mew smiled at Gulf. They fell asleep with their kids on top of them.
The next morning they headed to meet Mew's mother. They were going to introduce the puppies to her. Fon was coming along but she said she'd meet them at the cemetery itself.
The three-year-old triplets were running around the place. Mew knelt down at the foot of his mother's grave and put down the bouquet in his hands. Gulf was standing right behind him. "Mom, I have my own family now. A nice husband, three kids, and great parents-in-law," Mew was tearing up while looking at his mother's smiling picture. He smiled through the tears, "I'm even thirty-four years now! I've grown so old! I was only seven when you left." Gulf sat beside him and paid his respects to his mother-in-law. Mew felt tiny hands on his face. "Why is momma crying? I don't like momma's tears," little Solo said as he wiped his momma's tears away. Mew smiled at him and hugged him.
"Mom, this is Solo, my son. He has his father's nature," Mew chuckled. "Is this mama's mama?" Becca asked her daddy innocently. "Yes. Isn't she pretty?" Gulf said. Sammy took the flowers from Fon and kept them near the ones placed by her ommy. "Hello, grannie. I'm Sammy and that is Becca, my sister, and Solo, our brother," Sammy was only three years old but always carried herself like the responsible eldest sibling. Mew pulled his first daughter towards him and kissed her head.
The other two kids also paid respects to their grandmother. Fon smiled at her kids and grandkids intently. "Thank you for giving birth to Mew. I'll take care of him till the day I die. I promise you that. He is my own now," Fon whispered as she stared at the picture of the beautiful woman in her early thirties.
The first time Gulf met Mew was when the older was crying over his mother's death. He felt an undefined attraction towards the older the first time he saw him. Who would have thought that the two stranger kids who did not even know each other's real names even after knowing each other for so many years would get married and have a family of their own? Maybe it was Mew's mother who guided Gulf to Mew that day when he was crying by the pond so her son won't be lonely after she's already gone forever.
And now, they were a family of five. All their days were filled with their children's noisy selves. Their personal time cut short. But the love and bond only growing stronger as each and every second passed by.
