Chapter 158
I'm Sorry My Love Novel
Chapter 158 Do You Have to Be Sarcastic?
Leanna quirked a brow upon hearing so. âDonât think so.â
âOh, I want to go back to college again. The dating scene in the student days was the best. Itâs been a
long time since I last felt that kind of infatuation.â
âItâll have to be his call. Iâve asked him once, and heâ¦â Leanna couldnât help shaking her head as she
chuckled to herself when she recollected their conversation.
Sometime later, during their chat, a knock came on the door to their private room. It was the server
bringing their dishes over.
Just then, someone passed by and happened to take an unconscious glance inside. A second after
registering what they saw, they turned into the private room. âWhat a surprise to see you guys here.â
Zoe and Leanna reflexively looked up upon hearing the voice to find it was Daphne standing at the
entrance.
Daphne had been on set for the past few months, and she had also called to check up on Leanna
when she heard about the incident. But whoâd have thought she would bump into them right as she
came back?
âAre you also eating here?â Leanna asked.
âYeah, with Aââ Daphne quickly swallowed her words and chuckled hollowly. âMy boss has a lunch
meeting about some film investment here, so he asked me to join.â
Zoe didnât register who this âbossâ was. âHow long until you guys finish the meeting? Weâll wait for you.
Weâre waiting for Nanaâs brother in the meantime anyway.â
Daphne did a quick shift with her eyes before saying with a smile, âWeâre almost done. Iâll come right
over after saying bye. You guys can go ahead and eat. No need to wait for me; Iâve already eaten
plenty.â
âSure, go ahead.â
After Daphne left, Zoe grabbed an appetizer, and it wasnât until mid-eating that something hit her.
Daphne is signed under Pearson Group. Doesnât that make her bossâ¦
Zoe lost her appetite in an instant, and her fork slipped, landing on her plate with a clink.
Just what sort of f*cking bad luck do we have?! Whoâd have thought that b*stard is so coincidentally
here when weâve decided on a whim to eat in this place my friend recommended after working our a*s
off for two months?!
With that, she snuck a peak at Leanna, wanting to see her reaction. The latter was drinking, and she
asked with a smile when she caught Zoe looking at her, âWhat?â âHahaha, nothing. Nothing. Nana,
donât just drink. Here, eat something. Itâll be a while before Louis gets here.â While speaking, Zoe kept
scooping food into Leannaâs plate, piling it up very quickly, rendering Leanna at a loss for words.
Meanwhile, inside the next private room, Daphne took a tactical sip of water after sitting down. While
the cup covered up her facial expression, she peeked from the corner of her eye at the man sitting
beside her. Aidan took an indifferent glance at her in exchange. Even when he said nothing, Daphne
still felt inexplicably conscience-stricken. A while later, Daphne thought it had arrived at the right time,
and she put her cup down while clearing her throat. âPresident Pearson, everyone, I just got a call
saying thereâs an emergency at home. Iâll have to make a move; you guys enjoy yourselves.â
But little did she expect to hear Aidanâs distant voice right as she grabbed her bag. âWhat emergency?â
âItâs⦠some personal stuff. I appreciate your concern, President Pearson.â Aidan raised his eyes and
bore into Daphne as though to say, âThe way you were looking at me just now didnât scream
emergency.â I knew it! This b*stard isnât easy to fool. At that, Daphne pulled a spot-on smile, saying,
âActually, I bumped into a couple of friends while I was outside. Itâs been a while since I saw them.
Soâ¦â âWhoâs the lead in this movie? You or me?â Aidan retorted icily. Daphne knew he was insinuating
her attitude toward her job and being irresponsible. With that, she deflected his retort with ease. âWell, I
thought weâd already gotten most of the details down just now. As for everything else, Iâll just follow
your call. I know what Iâm doing isnât the most appropriate, but Iâm really sorry. That friend of mine had
a bad breakup some time ago. She was dating a s*mbag, you see, so she was hurt pretty badly. I have
to go and comfort her.â
Aidan stared at her for a couple of seconds before rebutting bluntly, âSounds to me like you have
nothing better to do.â
The others in the room laughed in response and alleviated the tension. âDaphneâs right. Weâve gotten
most of the details down. In that case, weâll discuss the rest of the details and let Daphne go to her
friend, President Pearson. She should comfort her friend when something like this has happened.â
âYou can say that again,â Daphne echoed. âMy friendâs pretty lovely, and sheâs pretty and capable too.
Who knows which b*stard had to go and hurt her.â
Aidanâs temples throbbed in response, and his handsome face turned grimmer by the second.
Daphne, on the other hand, scurried away before he exploded.
When she arrived at the girlâs private room, she deliberately looked behind her shoulder to make sure
Aidan hadnât found her actions questionable before entering. Louis was already seated in the private
room at this point. âWhatâs cookinâ, good lookinâ?â Daphne greeted with a smile, to which Louis gave no
response. After Daphne took her seat, Zoe whispered, âDid your boss not say anything when youâve
come over just like this?â âNo. Iâve even rebuked him, but Iâm sure he couldnât tell I was doing so.â In
response, Zoe pulled a like-minded smile and clinked glasses with her. Meanwhile, Louis asked
Leanna with a frown, âWhat are they talking about?â
âThatâs their business. Eat your food.â Leanna scooped some fish onto his plate, looking unfazed.
With that, the group went on about their lunch.
Halfway, Leanna took a trip to the washroom, but she didnât expect to find Aidan taking a drag not far
away when she came out.
However, as unexpected as it was, she wasnât surprised to see him.
At that, she shifted her gaze and pretended not to see him. Just as she was about to walk away, his
deep, indifferent voice traveled to her ears. âLeanna.â
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath before turning around to look at him, pulling an especially
half-hearted smile. âWell, if it isnât President Pearson. Fancy seeing you here. Have you come to have
lunch as well?â
Her voice was laced with a hint of politeness, a degree of distance, and a whole lot of indifference.
âOf course.â Aiden looked plainly toward her.
âIs that so⦠Judging by how youâre looking, I thought youâre here to flatten this place.â
Aiden stubbed his cigarette as frustration laced his face. âDo you have to be sarcastic?â
âIâm sure you know I always talk like this, President Pearson.â Leannaâs countenance gradually turned
calm. âIf you have a problem with it, you canââ
âShut up.â
âOkay.â Leanna strode away at that, having no intention of wasting any more time with him.
Aidan scraped his tongue against his teeth as he watched her retreating figure, then lit another
cigarette, which he dangled from his lips, and smiled.
As sharp-tongued as ever.
âWhat took you so long, Nana?â asked Zoe when Leanna finally returned to the private room.
