Chapter 169
I'm Sorry My Love Novel
Chapter 169
How Do You Know That He Has Feelings for Me When Leanna and Zoe returned to the room, everyone
had almost finished their meal and was chatting with one another. When Maya saw this, she said even
more cynically, âYou two are indeed very busy. Weâve all been waiting for you for a long time. Even Elijah,
a businessman, isnât as busy as you two.â Before Zoe could respond, Elijah replied, âIâm not usually that
busy. Those who work for me are the ones who do the majority of the work.â Not long ago, Maya was still
bragging about her husbandâs position as an executive for a large corporation, which kept him so busy
that he rarely returned home. But what about the executive level? To put it bluntly, he was just an
employee. Elijah responded well to this remark, and it was clear who he meant.
Everyone else at the dining table had their corners of their mouths quirked up and secretly smiled. Maya
only attended todayâs class reunion because she wanted to boast about marrying a wealthy man. She
did not anticipate that she would shoot herself in the foot, though. She was enraged, but she couldnât
lash out at Elijah since he hadnât expressly said that his reply was directed at her. As a result, she could
only grit her teeth and suppress her anger. After the reunion, everyone departed one at a time. He
glanced at Leanna and Zoe and said, âI have nothing to do, so Iâll give you a ride home.â Leanna smiled
politely in response. âIt is not necessary. We have a car, so letâs go.â Zoe immediately said, âMy car has
broken down!â Leanna was dumbfounded. Zoe said with a straight face, âNana, remember how my car
was acting up on our way here? As soon as we parked it in the basement, it stopped moving.â
âWhy donât I â¦â âOf course you wouldnât know that! You werenât the one driving,â Zoe said as she
dragged Leanna toward Elijahâs car. Then, she thanked him. Elijah smiled. âYouâre welcome.â Zoe
opened the door on the passenger side and shoved Leanna into the seat. âSit here. Iâm feeling a bit
unwell, so Iâm gonna sit alone in the back seat.â Leanna couldnât say anything. It was clear to her at this
time what her intentions were. She couldnât say no directly in Elijahâs presence, so all she could do was
glare at her quietly and fasten her seatbelt. Zoe got into the back seat while humming a tune and
pretending not to notice the expression in her eyes. Elijah asked, âWhere do you stay?â Zoe replied,
âAh⦠it doesnât matter where we stay. If youâre free, just drive us around. We just ate dinner, so itâs good
to give the food some time to digest.â
Leanna couldnât be bothered to blow her cover. Who can digest food while sitting in a car? âSorry to
trouble you, but thanks for the ride,â she replied after giving him their address. He was surprised to hear
the address she gave him. âAre you two staying there?â Zoe suddenly leaned toward them. âDonât tell me
youâre staying there as well. What a coincidence!â What do they call this again? Well, fate had brought
these two together! He shook his head with a smile. âNo, I do not. My friend recently returned from
abroad and is currently residing there.â She was a little disappointed. âOh, thatâs too bad,â she said after
a brief pause. Then she said, âIâd like to know who your friend is. Is your friend someone youâre close to
and can visit frequently? If youâre free, thenâ¦â Leanna covered Zoeâs mouth and said to him
apologetically, âLetâs go.â Soon after Elijah started driving, he received a phone call requesting him to
return to the office to deal with an unanticipated situation. âIâm sorry, but I may not be able to drive you
two around today,â he apologized to Zoe with a smile.
Having overheard his phone conversation, Zoe nodded repeatedly. âSure, no problem! Weâll do it next
time, then,â she said while taking a business card out of her bag and handing it to him. âThis is the
address of our studio. You are welcome to visit and have fun at any time.â Leanna said, âElijah, just drop
us at the side of the road. We can go back by ourselves.â He replied, âItâs okay. Iâm not in a hurry, and
besides, weâll be there soon.â Seeing that he had no intention to stop, Leanna said nothing else. She
merely rolled down the car window and looked out the window impassively. Twenty minutes later, the
black Porsche stopped downstairs in front of the apartment. Zoe said, âWe wonât invite you upstairs for a
cup of tea since you have something important to attend to at your office. See you next time.â Elijah
nodded with a smile before turning to look at Leanna. âSee you next time.â After he left, Zoe lamented
with a sigh, âA nice guy like Elijah is really hard to find. Youâve got to hold onto â¦â âLetâs go.â She turned
around and caught up with Leanna. âHey, Nana, I really mean it.
You should think about it. I think he has feelings for you, so perhaps you two can try and work out a
relationship.â Pressing the elevator button, Leanna asked with a smile, âHow do you know that heâs got
feelings for me?â âDidnât you notice that he looked at you differently? Not only that, he was especially
tender toward you.â âNo, I didnât notice it.â Zoe continued on her own, âThis kind of thing is always clear
to the outsiders but not to the parties involved, so itâs normal that you didnât notice it.â Leanna was lost for
words. Zoe then said, âDidnât we agree to forget about Aidan that b*stard and start all over again? Elijah
is simply brought to you on a silver platter by God himself!â âBut didnât you say that we should date a
womanizer so that weâll cheat on each other? Elijah doesnât seem like a womanizer to me.â For the very
first time, she was floored by her own words. She said falteringly, âW-Well, I did say that when I was
drunk, but it canât be taken seriously, right? Seriously, I think Elijah is pretty nice. If you start going out
with him, youâll definitely be the happiest woman in the world.â Just as they were talking, the elevator
door suddenly opened, and a tall and big mixed-race man stepped out from the inside. Zoe paused
instantly as her eyes widened.
After the man left, the two ladies entered the elevator. Zoe whispered, âHey, Nana, did you see that?
That guyâs so handsome! Oh, we must have the devilâs luck to have seen so many handsome guys
today!â Leanna asked thoughtlessly, âHandsome guys? How many of them?â Zoe replied, âAinât I right?
Well, thereâs Elijah and the mixed-race guy just now, and thereâs Ai â¦â Toward the end of her sentence,
however, she hemmed and bit back the last syllable. Well, Aidan is a b*stard, but heâs got good looks.
To be honest, Elijah has changed a lot, but heâs slightly inferior to Aidan. She pondered for a moment
before suggesting, âZoe, letâs hire another designer when our studio is on the right track.â Zoe didnât
come to her senses for a moment. âHuh? Why?â Not knowing how to explain the situation, Leanna let out
a breath. Judging from what Aidan had said before leaving at the time, she felt that he had no intention of
letting her off just yet. As she had no idea what else that b*stard would do, she feared that she might get
Zoe into trouble. Because of that, she was entertaining the idea of leaving everything to Zoe and quitting
after the studio was on the right track.
