Chapter 341
His Destructive, Toxic Love (Jasper and Eliza)
Chapter 341 Dillon felt that Casper was at a disadvantage in this whole love affair. Was he falling for Eliza again? What good would it do if she was dead set on not giving them another shot?
âI think Mr. Casper hasnât figured out how to get along with Eliza. Seriously, which woman doesnât like a gentleman?â Dillon remarked.
Caroline nodded in agreement. âWhich woman would want to be with an overbearing, unreasonable guy, no matter how powerful he is? It just wouldnât work.â
âLooks like theyâre really not gonna make it,â she added, knowing her brother well enough. Memory loss or not, his personality and temper were deeply ingrained.
In business, Casper knew how to bide his time and keep a low profile. Even though Zach was still comfortably running Welton International, Casper wasnât in a rush. He knew that what was his would eventually come back to him-it was just a matter of time.
But when it came to matters of the heart? They were way more complicated. Once a womanâs heart is broken, itâs incredibly tough to mend. Maybe after Casper saved Eliza and her son multiple times, her hatred for him lessened, and she was even willing to forgive the pain he caused. But the chances of her taking that leap again were slim.
Dillon and Caroline were on the same page. Maybe starting fresh and finding happiness in their own ways wasnât such a bad idea after all.
The emergency room light went off, and Casper was wheeled out. The doctor mentioned that the situation wasnât too bad-there was no permanent damage, but he needed to rest and detox. Mae and Katie both touched their necks and breathed a sigh of relief. âCasperâs okay; we can finally relax,â Mae said. Just as her lips were about to form a smile, Carolineâs icy stare stopped her, and she quickly lowered her head.
Caroline noticed Maeâs reaction. Despite her lingering complaints, Caroline decided not to push further. âYou two should head back.â
âAlright, alright,â they eagerly agreed, almost rushing to leave. âWeâll leave Casper in your care then.â
The âmother and daughterâ duo quickly disappeared down the hallway.
Casper woke up after being pushed back to his ward, feeling like his body had been through a grinder. Every muscle screamed in exhaustion, and his head throbbed. He barely lifted his eyelids and saw Ditton and Caroline standing there.
vel âAre you two standing here like sentinels worried I might drop dead?â he quipped with a self-deprecating smile. âRelax, Iâm not that easy to kill.â
âIs Katie into you?â Caroline asked, crossing her arms and eyeing him intently. âDidnât you notice her intentions?â
âAunt Mae asked me to take Katie out, and I couldnât refuse. How was I supposed to know sheâd drug me?â he said. Katie and Mae are not blood relatives. Katie, being Maeâs stepdaughter, made them somewhat related. Who vel.
uldâve guessed she had such plans?
Caroline smirked. âThe doctor said itâs a good thing some of the drugs wore off. Otherwise, you mightâve ended up impotent and childless.â
âItâs not that serious,â Casper muttered, knowing his body well.
Caroline took a deep breath, her gaze turning playful. âSo, who was the woman who gave you the antidote?â
Casper paused, pinching the bridge of his nose. That woman...
âI donât remember,â he finally said.
âYou donât remember?â Caroline nearly laughed. âYou better remember, or you might get a police summons one day and not even know what you did.â
