Chapter 1765
Madeline Crawford and Jeremy Whitman
Under the darkness of the night, Karen relied on the streetlights to see the people in the car, the sight of which immediately made her feel much more at ease.
Jeremy was the first to get out of the car after they parked. He then walked toward the backseat and opened the door, then carried Madeline out of the car.
When Karen saw this, she could not help but worry.
She quickly walked toward Madeline who was being held by Jeremy. When she saw Madelineâs wet, red, and swollen eyes, she got even more worried. â What happened? Eveline, are you feeling unwell?â
Madeline smiled at that, shaking her head. âDonât worry about me, mom. Iâm fine. Iâve just twisted my ankle. Iâll be fine after resting for a few days.â
When Karen heard that, she was even more worried. âHow did you twist your ankle? How did it happen? Are you sure youâll be fine after a few days?â
âYes, definitely, â Madeline said with certainty, nodding. âYou can ask Jeremy if you donât believe me.â
Jeremy chimed in cooperatively when he heard that. âSheâll recover if she recuperates properly. No need to be too worried.â
âThatâs good then.â Karen was only relieved then. Suddenly, she remembered something. âWhereâs Eloise? The maid said you were chasing Eloise.
Where is she now? Why did she suddenly run out on her own?â
âIâm here, Karen.â
Eloiseâs voice sounded from the other side of the backseat.
Karen lifted her head to look over. When she saw Eloise walking toward her with a smile, Karen quickly walked over.
âEloise, why did you run out suddenly? Iâd only gone to the toilet and you disobediently ran out to play.
Do you know that itâs dangerous if thereâs no one with you? Donât do this again next time.â
Karen scolded Eloise as if she was lecturing a child.
She did not know that Eloiseâs mental state had already recovered just a while ago.
Meanwhile, listening to Karenâs earnest scolding, Eloise nodded and promised seriously and obediently. âI know. I wonât make you guys worry about me from now on.â
âGood.â Satisfied, Karen smiled, then grabbed Eloiseâs hand. âLetâs head into the house then. Sean and the others should be home soon as well. Itâs nearly dinner time.â
Karen held Eloiseâs hand as she walked toward the house. However, after taking two steps, Karen still felt that something was amiss.
She looked at Eloise with curiosity and seriousness. âEloise, it seems that youâre speaking much more normally than before.â
When Eloise heard this, a smile appeared on her graceful face.
âAre you saying that I didnât sound normal back then, Karen?â
â â When Karen heard that, she abruptly stopped in her tracks, and the look in her eyes changed. â
Eloise, youâ¦â
Karen was evidently puzzled, especially when she saw the calm and serious look on Eloiseâs face.
This look could only be seen on a normal person who was also a refined and elegant woman.
âEveline, Eveline, do you think that your mother seems a little odd?â Karen turned her head to ask Madeline. She then asked Jeremy again, âJeremy, what do you think? Eloiseâs tone sounds different from before.â
Jeremy and Madeline shared a look and smile, then he said, âOf course itâs different. Sheâs already recovered.â
âRecovered? âRecovered!â
Jeremyâs words went through Karenâs ears, and only after a while, Karen could register the unbelievable news.
