Chapter 1966
Madeline Crawford and Jeremy Whitman
Madeline looked at Carter and then looked at the people around her who were waiting for her answer.
Suddenly, she smiled.
âOf course, Iâm not hypnotized.â Madelineâs answer was simple, clear, and very certain.
Carter was very satisfied with this answer. However, in his heart, he suddenly felt that something was wrong.
Madelineâs answer was too certain.
She did not look like a hypnotized person at all.
At one side, Jimâs mother laughed again. âThis is such a joke. Youâre asking a hypnotized person to answer this kind of question. Would she know whether sheâs hypnotized?â
âYouâre right. A hypnotized person certainly wouldnât know whether theyâve been hypnotized because they wouldnât have their own thoughts.
But madam, I, Eveline Montgomery, am not hypnotized.â
Madelineâs tone was confident. As she said that, she turned her eyes to Carter. The look in his eyes started to change.
âBecause my hypnosis has been broken.â
This was the answer Carter did not want to hear. It was also the answer that shocked him.
How was that possible?
Madelineâs hypnosis was broken again?
Were all his plans going to be interrupted at the most critical time again just like last time?
No.
Carter would not allow that to happen.
Upon noticing that the Old Masterâs expression had sunk, Carter quickly spoke.
âEveline, what are you talking about?â
Madeline curled her charming pink lips. âIâm speaking the human language. Whatâs wrong, Mr. Gray?
Donât you understand what Iâm saying?â
ââ¦â Carter was alarmed by Madelineâs answer.
Jim, Jimâs mother, and the guests around them were all looking at each other. They did not know what was going on, but based on Madelineâs gestures and expression, they could guess what was going on.
Among the crowd, Camille started to get fretful. However, Carter was still doing his best to remain calm.
âEveline, is something upsetting you? Are you unhappy that I had neglected you because I was busy with the wedding preparations? You dummy, donât throw a tantrum at this moment. You have to remember that youâre pregnant. This isnât good for the baby.â
âPregnant?â Madeline lifted her proud and beautiful eyebrows. âI was only pregnant with the children of one man in my whole life. He is my one and only husband and lover, Jeremy Whitman.â
âJeremy Whitman?â
âIâve heard this name before.â
âSheâs the wife of the number one young master of Glendale!â
Madeline heard the exclamations around her. She looked at Carterâs expression that was going to collapse at any second, and the smile on her face was even wider now.
âCarter, does it feel good to fool the hearts of others? Now, not only am I going to tell everyone, but Iâm also going to tell you that anyone who fools peopleâs hearts is despicable. In the end, they will, in turn, get fooled and end up like this.â
âCarter Gray, you lose!â
