Chapter 16

Another day like usual, or maybe not.

Facade~ True beauty fanfic

There were 6 seats total, three at one side and three at other side of the table. Soo-ho could see you walking towards him and he was anticipating for your next move.

Move as in, whether you will sit beside him or not. You lazily walked and chose the corner seat, leaving one seat empty between you and Soo-ho.

He awkwardly turned back to his notebook ignoring the fact that he was ignored.

Sounds ridiculous.

And he felt like it.

Because he wanted to shift on the chair beside you. However this thought was cut short when Jukyung came and sat on chair beside him. He stiffened and Jukyung noticed this.

Y/N threatened him.

Jukyung wanted to giggle at that thought but she controlled herself and took her notebook out. Soo-jin looked at Jukyung sitting beside Soo-ho but didn't comment.

Soo-ho was still in confusion that how did you figured out about him blackmailing Jukyung which he was so not doing.

As much as Soo-ho was nonchalant to threats, he did not wanted to get on your bad side.

Meanwhile Sua and Her boyfriend were busy in themselves as always, giggling like a toddler playing in the garden.

"I swear to god if you keep giggling I will kick you both out." I warned them with a glare as they cleared their throat and took their notebooks out. I checked my bag to see how many books I had to stack up as a barrier.

Yes.

I am planning to sleep.

I took out every book and notebook I had and put them on the table but it made a sound that attracted their attention.

"You are gonna study all that today?" Soo-jin asked while raising a brow and I nodded hastily.

"Yeah, competition increased you know." You shrugged and stacked them up and checked if you were visible or not by raising your head up and down. When you were satisfied by the fact that you were completely hidden behind it, you smiled and put your head down while closing your eyes.

Time to sleep honey~

You made myself comfortable with the sleeping position and sighed.

On the other hand, Jukyung was biting her pencil while looking at the numerical. She wasn't the type to curse but right now, she felt like it. She looked at the notebook and then sit up straight. Again she dipped her head down to see what's written and then sit up again thinking.

You see this is normal for a confused person, however, Soo-ho was annoyed because everytime he tried to peek at Y/N Jukyung either lowered her head or held her up at the same time he did.

Jukyung felt as if someone was watching her. She looked up to meet the eyes of Soo-ho and to her astonishment, her stomach did a flip. She couldn't tell why but she felt something stir inside her.

"That's a basic question. Don't you know it?" Soo-ho asked being fed up of this head up and down game. In reply she just shrugged in embarrassment while looking down.

"Maybe because I don't know the basics." She awkwardly laughed as Soo-ho stared her down. Then he took her notebook and began to explain it to her.

Jukyung just stared at him dazzled. He again looked up when he got no reply.

"What?" He asked and she just still looked at him with big eyes.

"How could you solve that with such a small head?" She asked and Soo-ho blinked.

"Why can't you focus?" Soo-ho said with a frown as she stared him still with sparkling eyes.

"What is your IQ? Above 150?" She excitedly asked as his eyes hesitantly averted and then met her again.

"What is your IQ? Two digits? For your information, dolphins have IQ of 80."

"Are they that much smart?" Jukyung questioned in a shocked manner.

"If you want to surpass dolphin you need to work harder." While speaking his sentence his eyes went towards the corner of the seat only to notice the books stacked up on another creating a barrier that hid you from his view.

Jukyung was about to look back to see what was Soo-ho looking at but he immediately tapped the table to gain her attention.

"Focus." He said, however, he was telling telling himself that more than Jukyung.

Soo-jin watched this interaction unfold with jealously and confusion spreading through her body. She looked at them then pursed her lips and then looked away.

When she looked away she saw you studying with your head down. Soo-jin narrowed her eyes as she took a closer look. She stood up gaining attention of Jukyung and Soo-ho who was explaining the question.

"Is something wrong?" Jukyung asked as Soo-jin slowly went towards you.

"Uh-huh. This happened." She removed the books barrier and revealed you sleeping on the table face buried in your hand as your hair fell on side view of your face.

Soo-jin smiled sarcastically and kicked your leg underneath the table causing you to jerk awake.

"Who the f- " I stopped myself from cursing when I noticed I was in library with Soo-jin standing in front of me.

"Oh damn...I studied too much that I didn't notice when I fell asleep." I rubbed my eyes while smiling innocently.

"Don't worry. I did notice."

"She is lying!" Sua intervened while I just gave her look.

"If you did study then tell me in this equation, if N is squared over N, the values predicted is N then where will it go?"

"Uhh....infinity." I said while yawning and then stood up. Everybody furrowed their brows.

How did she get that right?

Main character influence

"I am done for today. " I grabbed my bag and began to pack my books in my bag. Soo-jin and Jukyung went to washroom while while I decided to walk out of the library. Soo-ho took his bag and decided to come out, not losing the sight of you but when he got out, you weren't there.

His brows furrowed in confusion.

"Looking for me Moody?" I teased as he flinched internally but kept his demeanour cool an collected.

"Why would I?"

Well, maybe you both knew why would he.

Or maybe one of you did know.

Or maybe both of you are idiots.

Just on cue, idiots came out of the library.

Sua and her boyfriend were giddy about something making me narrow my eyes.

"Coin Karaoke?" They asked together while grinning ear to ear.

"No." I simply refused and began to walk down the stree but soon was pulled back by a strong force.

"It will be fun." Soo-jin stated while dragging me by my backpack.

"C'mon! Out of everyone I thought you will be the one to support me in this." I said in disbelief as she smiled at me mockingly.

"Well you got that wrong because unlike you, we did study so we need time to relax so like it or not, you are coming with us."

"Excuse me? Consent?"

No one gave notice to my sentence and decided to go. Jukyung happily linked arms with me as we walked.

"You won't be coming right?" Soo-jin asked Soo-ho, expecting him to decline as he always did but to her surprise, he agreed to come.

"I will stop by for a little bit." He said.

Soo-jin felt uneasy at this. She was thinking about his sudden change in behaviour and whom was it because of? She needed to find out.

"Real. Real. Real. Absolutely Real!~"

Soojin, Jukyung, Sua and her boyfriend were singing enthusiastically with big grins on their face. While me and Soo-ho sat at the sofas looking at them with most neutral face we could muster.

They all looked so happy while singing and dancing, feeling just opposite to me.

Don't get me wrong, I love to see them happy but the thing is, they sing like a wheezing zombie.

"Now I get it why you guys didn't participate in tatent show." I commented as all of them gave me a look of-

'what's your problem'

"I was just saying." I shrugged as Sua came towards me.

"Well, then try yourself!" She pulled my wrist and shoved the mic in my hand.

"C'mon sing!" Soon after, they all began to chant it together and I stood there sweating.

I shouldn't have commented when I have a voice like dead roach.

It's Karma isn't it?

"I-I can't sing."

Damnit.

I stuttered.

I cleared my throat and handed them the mic back. I didn't want to sing. Back in time I used to sing with my brother and he said that I suck at singing. If I sing, I will end up only embarrassing myself.

"Well now we know too why you didn't participate in singing show." Soo-jin said as I gave her the eye while others chuckled. I excused myself and went to wash my face a little.

To be honest, I was exhausted but I had to stay because of my friends. But I admit, it was fun.

I washed my face and dried it, then came out of the washroom. I decided to walk back to our room but as I was passing by the hall, I looked out the glass window to see two familiar figures standing near a also vert familiar motorcycle.

I narrowed my eyes to see them clearly and my doubt cleared.

Seojun and Jukyung.

What were they doing together didn't concerned you and you wouldn't interfere if it wasn't for Jukyung backing off while Seojun advanced on her.

This cat eye douchebag.

Just from how many boys do I have to save you Jukyung?

I marched down the fight of stairs directly to the main exit gate.

"Yah! Han Seojun-ah. Don't you have other things to do rather than intimidating an innocent girl?" I spoke as I walked closer to them. Maybe I imagined it but Seojun's face lit up a little. Maybe I did imagines it.

Before Seojun could reply, a wide eyed Jukyung grabbed wrist of Seojun and ran as fast as she could.

I stood there perplexed by her decision.

Am I that bad of a friend that she replaced me for a rider guy? I mean I don't blame her but seriously?

A big question mark appeared on my head but I trusted my gut and decided to run after them.

"Yah Jukyung-ah!!" They both turned around the corner and I took the turn too however they both stopped but I couldn't in time.

The result you ask?

I bumped into Seojun's back and he bumped into Jukyung.

There we go. I created awkward atmosphere again but I was unbeknownst to it because more important matter was in my hand.

"If you wanted to spend time with him, say that to my face or I will think he is blackmailing yo-" My sentence was caught in the middle when I took notice of the situation.

The people who bullied Seojun on that day were standing in front of us while Soejun stood there with straight face.

"You brought two girls to this inconspicuous place?" The leader mocked while other let out a short cackle.

"Just go from here." Seojun said as he stood in front of us.

"Is that how you feel about us? We thought you were our friend." One of them said as I remembered how they punched Seojun.

Slight anger bubbled inside me as I took a step forward standing beside Seojun.

"He would have told you how he feel but alas, god haven't given enough middle fingers to express how he feels." Seojun eyes widened at this. Noticing the gang leader getting angry Seojun grabbed your wrist and sprinted.

"Grab them!!"

Taken aback form the sudden jerk I let out a yelp and out of instinct I grabbed Jukyung's hand, dragging her with me.

"Couldn't you used more polite wordings!?"

Jukyung spoke breathlessly as we entered a narrow ally.

Soo-ho saw Seojun running along with you while holding your wrist. His eyelids fluttered as he clenched his jaw. Then he noticed many boys following them so he did what came first in his mind. He ran after them.

"Never." I said as we came to a three way road. I released my wrist from Seojun's grasp and pushed few cartons in one of the way of road and then beckoned them to hid in the other. All the three of us hid behind a wall as those boys took other way.

We waited for few moments and when the coast was clear I stood up.

"Besides, they are bullies." I clarified and stood up while looking out cautiously.

"They are gone." I said as we all stood up.

"You are stupid." Seojun said as he looked at me while I stood there offended.

"Excuse me? Stupid?I stood up for you and you are calling me stupid?"

I couldn't believe what he said. I knew I shouldn't have help-

"They could've hurt you. They have problem with me, not you so stay out of it."

My thoughts were at halt when I heard this. For some reason, his way of showing care got me speechless.

"Yah! Who are you calling stupid huh? Do you even know who was king after King Sejong the Great?" Jukyung came beside me and asked him.

"Gojong." He said and I snickered.

"Where did 400 years go? You are even more stupid than me." She says I bit back a laugh at the face Soejun made after she said that.

When we came back all of them were already gone. I check my phone to see Soo-jin messaged me few minutes ago.

The beauties♡

Soo-jin:

Where are you?

Sua:

It's late! We are leaving. Message us when you are back.

Soo-jin:

Are you alright?

We are worried.

Y/N:

Yes I am alright. Was just learning few things.

Soo-jin:

And what did you learn?

Y/N:

The rooster came before the chicken and egg.

I turned off my phone and took my bag, hung it around my shoulder and went outside.

"Imzoo you coming with me?" I asked her as she shook her head as she looked for something.

"You can go. I will get home safely." She smiled at me as I nodded.

"You sure? I am going the comic store for relaxatio-"

"No! I mean- yes you can go alone. I- will meet you in school!" She says as she pushed me out of the gate.

"Okayyyyy..." I muttered under my breath and descended down the stairs.

"Message me when you reach home." I said to Jukyung who hummed in response and went inside again.

"But I don't have your number." Another voice chimed in and I looked at the source.

"It's in the phone book." I smiled in a sarcastic way at Seojun while he put on his helmet and gave me a look.

"And there is your bike again." I clicked photo of him again as his eyes widen.

"Not again!" He was about to follow me but I was already running on the path to the comic store. That and a voice called out to Seojun from behind.

Jukyung asked him for bus fare and Seojun being Seojun teased her but eventually offered her a bike ride.

Meanwhile you were already almost at the comic store. Sometimes you are surprised by your own speed walking. As you came close to the shop you saw someone sitting at the bench outside while drinking water.

"Lee Soo-ho?" I spoke as the said boy turned his head towards me. He choked on water and began to cough violently. The fact that he was thinking about you and you came out of the blue took him by surprise.

I went towards him and gently patted his back to soothe his coughs and after few more coughs he regained his posture.

"Are you following me?" He asked and I suddenly wished he was better coughing.

"Well world doesn't revolves around you. This is public place where I usually come."

I gave a mocking smile to which he just blinked at.

But between our interaction I noticed small cut on his bottom lip.

"Did you get into a fight or something?" I frowned as he averted his eyes. He was bitter at the thought you were with Seojun. It was reason he ran behind you all.

"None of your business." He turned to face the other way but to his astonishment, soft fingers grabbed his chin and turned him to face the other side.

His eyes widened when he saw you looking at his lips intently while examining the wound. Blush crept upto his neck as stood up abruptly.

"Hey! I was observing the wound. No need to get worked up on it. Here." I handed him a small ointment I carry with myself for emergencies like this.

He cleared his throat and took the ointment from me and took out some of it, putting it on the busted lip. You once again stood in front of him and took away the tube of ointment.

"You are seriously a kid. You smeared it over your cheek." I shook my head as I wiped off the extra ointment he put there as he just stared at me. I returned his gaze as we both stood there.

"Kang Y/N"

Suddenly I heard few other voices and only then I took notice of Seojun and Jukyung who were walking towards us.

Wait- Seojun and Jukyung?

What are they doing here?

"I went through all that just so these both boys don't meet. Were they couple in previous life or something?"

Jukyung thought as she closed her eyes and exhaled.

"I thought you were going home." Seojun said to me but his gaze was fixed at Soo-ho.

"She can go wherever she want." Soo-ho spoke up as moved towards Seojun.

"And she can also speak for herself can't she?" Seojun gave me a smile that was beckoning me to speak.

"Enough. Both of you." I said being fed up of their lovey-dovey quarrels.

"She's is right. We should go to our respective homes now. You go that way and he will go the other way." She says in a very awkward voice while trying to diffuse the situation. But what I noticed that Soo-ho and Seojun were in a silent conversation with their eyes locked.

I swear their chemistry is gonna burn me.

"I th-uff-" My voice was muffled when Jukyung bumped into me as she was pushed by a drunkard women.

"Unni!" Jukyung muttered under her breath in disbelief.

Her sister was caught by both the boys as she swayed left and right while speaking in drunk way.

"Oh! There are two handsome boys! Why there.....are two handsome boys..?" Suho and Seojun were having a hard time trying to balance her. She laughed and clapped her hands, still swaying.

Then her sister put her hands around the of the two boys and spoke in a loud voice.

"I will make sure you two debut!"

The situation was humorous if you ask me if it wasn't for petrified face of Jukyung.

I tried to help her too but she jerked her head up suddenly causing me to move back.

"Ohhhh....pretty....did I die? Am I in heaven?" She says as she looked at me and I gave an awkward glance at Jukyung who was facepalming.

"Wake up unni!!" Jukyung shook her sisters shoulder as her face got little pale and she pursed her lips.

Jukyung backed away and spoke.

"If you throw up I am gonna kill you."

"I think we should take her to your home!"

I spoke as the boys nodded immediately, fearing that she would vomit on them.

Somehow we managed to bring her to the house as Jukyung rapidly thanked the boys however her sister limped towards Seojun who gently pushed her away and she ended up throwing up on the sleeves of Soo-ho.

There was moment of silence when her sister wiped her face and staggered inside the house, throwing up again. I stared at shocked Soo-ho who stood there in daze questioning his existence.

Seojun looked away gagging a little while Jukyung immediately got into action. She took his jacket out cautiously, apologised and ran inside the house hastily.

I wasn't in the mood to read anymore. I had enough drama for today so I decided to walk to my house.

"Y/N."

Soo-ho called out however, you were already out walking away. He wanted to walk you home but before he could another voice called him.

"Hey, Lee Soo-ho."

Soo-ho turned around to look at Seojun with the most cold stare he could muster.

"Do you like Y/N?" Soo-ho narrowed his eyes.

"What?"

"So you like Jukyung instead?" Soo-ho's gaze hardened, understanding where this was going.

"What about you then? Why do you keep hanging around them?" Soo-ho said in response as Seojun smirked.

"Do you like Y/N?" He asked as Seojun as he let out a mocking chuckle and advanced towards him.

"I think I should." Soo-ho stared at him in undisguised anger and Seojun was enjoying it.

Deep down they both knew what's happening to them and that's when the rivalry inflicted between them even more.
