Peculiar Behaviour
Facade~ True beauty fanfic
The very next morning of the drama I faced yesterday was much peaceful. I woke up and ate my breakfast properly while having a normal conversation with Ms.Choi.
"What did he say?" I asked.
"He said that he had to delay his arrival because of some work..." Ms.Choi says but I felt she had something more to say.
"He never delays." I said it as a fact and Ms.Choi nodded in approval.
"I hope it's not something severe because Mr.Kang Jr. usually overwork himself."
"Nah. I bet it's about a woman." I put said nonchalantly as Ms.Choi chuckled.
"Then your Grandpa will be delighted."
We both smiled and then I took my backpack and went to bus stand after bidding goodbye to Ms.Choi.
For some reason, today felt like more serene than usual. I was feeling like my usual self as I smiled to myself, breathing in the fresh air of the morning.
But my moment of peace was cut short when a key came into my view. Reflexes caused me to catch it as familiar cat like eyes met mine. Seojun smiled at me making me confused to the core.
"What is this?" I looked at the key of his bike in my hand.
"You told me not to ride bike so I won't. "
He said and smiled at me brightly.
If I hadn't know him, I would definitely fell for this smile but I knew he had ulterior motive and that's the reason I found his behaviour peculiar.
"Lee Soo-Ho is coming behind us." Someone said in a low voice and I was about to turn my head when Seojun moved closer to me.
"From today onwards, I plan to listen to you only." He puts his hands in his pockets and then proceeded to move inside the school. I stood there with keys still dangling from my fingers, contemplating how the scenario changed.
"Does he likes our queen?"
"I mean I don't blame him."
Comments began to murmur around us as I grew uncomfortable for a second and decided to call Soejun for an explanation.
"Yah! Han Seojun." I was about to follow him when another hand grabbed my wrist.
I turned around to see Lee Soo-ho staring at me with soft gaze
"Don't go." He says lowly while keeping a firm grip on my wrist.
"What-" I tried to remove his grip however he still insisted.
"I said don't go."
Why are they both behaving so strange...
"As if I am going to listen. Why shouldn't I 'go' ? " I asked it while putting an emphasis on the word 'go'.
"I have something to say."
He says in his as usual monotonous voice but I could catch a hint of nervousness in it.
I gestured him to speak but he kept silent while looking at me. I raised a brow bringing him back to reality as he speaks.
"That..."
"That...?" I repeated after him. For some reason I was intrigued to listen what he had to say but what he says next took me by surprise.
"The Indian Ocean dipole El Niño phenomena were pointed out as the cause of the Australian wildfires. What do you think of the relation between the two of them?"
I blinked and looked at him as if he was high.
"Uhh...nothing?" I speak it as more of a question and got my wrist out of his grip proceeding to move towars class and to my relief he didn't follow this time.
I sat at my usual seat and saw my neighbour already there looking out the window. My attention was grabbed by a sound of thud on my table. I looked at the bottle of lemon juice that was now on my table and Seojun stood beside it. I looked up at him with narrowed eyes.
"Is it poisoned?" I voiced out my doubt as he chuckled and bent a little down to my level and unbeknownst to us, my neighbour was fuming.
"Why would I poison the person I want to listen to." The class 'oo-ed' at this as Soejun went back to his seat. My brows furrowed at this.
"I like strawberry more." I said and put the juice aside. Seojun rubbed his chin and made a mental note on that and our broody boy also chose to remember it.
I took my books out when Sua and Jukyung both dragged their chairs towards my table and looked at me bewildered.
"What is with him? Also what's with the motorcycle key?" Sua asks me as Jukyung nodded, keen to know.
"Do you think I would be this perplexed if I knew?"
I saw how Jukyung stole glances at Soo-ho. In the beginning I would think of that glance as a one of fear however now, this glance is more like studying one. And I knew what exactly that meant. Jukyung noticed me staring at her and sheepishly cleared her throat.
"So what are you gonna do now?" Jukyung asks me and I sighed.
"Return it. I love my usual normal life."
I made a mental note to threw the key at his face. When the class started, I decided to focus in class because the teacher would catch me sleeping if I try. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Seojun sleeping peacefully in my former seat.
Jealousy burned in my body as scowled made it way on my face. I decided to throw the key at his head to wake him up but a voice distracted me.
"Do you have extra pen?" I heard Soo-ho's voice beside me ask. As I was about to hand him my extra pen, another hand came into view who was offering him pen.
This hand was of none other than Jukyung.
Soo-ho stared at her face for a second then took the pen while muttering a small thank you. I narrowed my eyes at Soo-ho thinking he was once again bothering her but noticing this she spoke up
"I had one already so you didn't have to worry." Jukyung said nervously as I nodded. It was weird but if she is okay with it then I was no one to question it anymore.
After the class was over, I once again slipped out of class before Soo-jin could notice me and went outside to find Han Seojun. I saw him and his gang near stairs outside so I called out to him.
"Han Seo Jun." Every one of his gang turned around and looked at me. They all cheered as Seojun smirked, feeling triumphed. He thought you were falling for his charms that's why you came to him however his reverie was broken when you threw the key at him.
Startled he caught it and looked at your retreating back with disbelief spreading across his face. He blinked rapidly as his gang tried to show empathy.
Next class was of chemistry as we all were supposed to gather in the lab. Soojin and Sua were already there as I waited for Jukyung. We both went together in the lab and while we were passing Soo-ho's table Jukyung was pulled back by her coat.
You see, Soo-ho miscalculated. He thought he pulled your coat but when Jukyung turned around, his face paled a little however there was no turning back now.
"If there is no seat you could sit here." He pulled out a chair for her. Soo-ho looked at me to see my reaction.
My reaction was clearly visible to everyone. My face held 'wtf' look however not many noticed. I was concerned for Jukyung so I took the seat opposite to them and took out the bottle of lemon juice.
"I thought you said you didn't like it." He says as he stared at the bottle.
"So what? I can't just throw it away."
What he did next was straight outrageous to me. He picked up the bottle and handed that to Kim Do Hun.
"You can drink it." He says to him as he happily takes it.
"Hey! I have already drank from that! " I was about to stand up when Soo-ho snatched the bottle out of Do-hun's hand and put it in his own pocket.
"I change my mind." Do Hun pouts and moves away as I gazed at Soo-ho with disbelief spread across my face.
"Listen here Mr.Moody, whoever put stick up your ass wasn't me so stop-" I stopped speaking when he put a strawberry juice on the table. I stared at him like he was an alien. I narrowed my eyes and took the bottle.
"I was joking when I said I drank from it." Soo-ho put his pen down as he took out the bottle and offered it to Jukyung. She gingerly took it and smiled while looking at him as he immersed himself in his own work. When Soo-ho looked up at her she blinked and pretended as if she wasn't staring at him.
Meanwhile I, was so busy in comprehending the fact that I once again had those key in my coat.
How?
Class went on and as soon as it was over, I went to the cafeteria without waiting for anyone. Seems rude but I was very hungry.
I took my plate and took a seat. Picking up my chopsticks, I notice Sua trying to sit beside me however Seojun bumped his hip with Sua to push her away as he sat beside me.
"I need to sit with her, sorry." Seojun said Sua's boyfriend spoke up.
"How could you do that to my angel!"
However, Soejun ignored this and looked at me when he put his tray down.
"Yah, Han Seojun. If you are going to torment Y/N then get lost." Soojin says threatening him as Seojun just smirked.
"I am going to listen to what Y/N says." He said as his friends started cheering once again and to be honest, it was getting annoying.
I put my chopsticks down and smiled sarcastically at him.
"Then do me a favour." He fixed his hair and said-
"Just say it and I will-"
"Please get lost." Seojun was cut off by me and stared at me with his mouth agape a little.
"What?" Sua and Soojin snickered.
"Anything but that." He tried to persuade me.
"Then don't talk to me." I picked up my chopsticks once again and decided to eat my food. Seojun as trying his best to charm me bit it wasn't working so far.
"You won't eat this right?" He picked up my F/D (favourite dish) with his chopsticks and took a bite from it. Silence filled the table as every one stared at Seojun in fear while he munched on the food happily as he complemented it.
Your hair covered your face as you still stared at the now empty space in your tray where previously your F/D was. Your fist clenched tightly as your chopsticks broke with the pressure. Everyone flinched at the sound including Han Seojun.
"Wait you liked it? Don't worry then! Hey, F/D." Han Seojun clapped once at them and they immediately ran to bring those.
"Is that flirting or fighting, I can't tell.." Sua said as she stared at us.
"You shouldn't eat your hair." He removed my hair from the tray and pushed them behind my shoulders and by this time, my patience ran out. His friends came beside me with F/D.
I looked up and smiled sweetly at him.
"Are you full now?" He smiled at seeing me smiling at him as his friend cheered again.
"You need to eat full to be healthy." With this sentence said I grabbed F/D from the tray and shoved it in his mouth.
Forgot to mention I shoved 3 of it in his mouth altogether. He struggled to suffice as I gave a nudge at his chin. He coughed and spit them all out.
"Let this be a lesson not to touch my tray ever again." I picked one F/D from the tray and went out of cafeteria.
As I was walking through the corridor I again heard his voice.
"Kang Y/N! Hey you Food critic extraordinaire !" I stopped at that nickname.
"Excuse me?" I stood offended however it was cut short when some boys ran into me causing me loose my footing.
Seojun immediately caught Y/N but he stumbled and fell along with her. His black orbs stared at her face and was at loss of words. You were indeed beautiful. And when you opened your eyes, he got flashback of the day when you accidentally bumped into him. The time when he first saw you this close. His heartbeat increased its pace causing him to breath heavily.
His reverie was broken when you pushed him off yourself.
"Stop it!" I said gave a glare to his friend who were about to cheer.
"I just saved you!" He defended. I took his keys out my pocket and threw it at him once again
"Then don't save me." I dusted my skirt and walked away. I saw Soo-ho and Jukyung standing together.
Now I know why she was not there when all this drama happened.
"Are you okay?" They both asked at the same as I could hear Seojun's voice behind me.
"Yes." I answered simply and went to the class.
"What was she thinking!?"
"Seojun got rejected."
"She did that because she fell for me!!"
Seojun shouted at Soo-ho as his friends dragged him back while holding his both arms.
"Let's take him."
I was going back to my class when I heard a soft voice singing. It mesmerized me to be honest. My feet stopped on their own as I listened to the singing. I tried to peek in the class where the sound came from but soon the sound stopped as sound of things falling replaced it.
"I told you not to sing properly. Tell the teacher you won't be singing."
I heard this and peeked inside to see one of the girl which seemed popular slapping another girl. I frowned and went inside without thinking twice.
"Hey you cake faces, Stop bullying her." At the sight of me they all fled. I was about to walk towards the girl however she also ran without giving me glance.
"I didn't even get a chance to ask her name." I said and once again glared at the sight where those girls disappeared.
"Showing arrogance at their beauty."
It felt familiar to me but this time, I won't make the same mistake. I won't be just standing by and watching bullying occur.
I scoffed and went to my class. After the class was over, Jukyung went with me on the bus. We both sat at the second last seat in the right side.
"Soo-ho isn't bothering you again right?" I asked as I handed her a chocolate bar.
"No he isn't. He helped me in maths. " she smiled and took the bar from me however she noticed how chapped my hands were.
"It's just the starting of winter and your hands are chapped! Put your hand like this." She motioned me to put my hand forward as she grabbed her hand cream and put some on mine, rubbing it gingerly.
"See? It even smells good." She smiled cutely at me. I would be lying if I said I didn't feel touched. It was such a small gesture but it meant a lot to me. I smiled back at her and nodded.
"Ohh look who it is..." My eyes went to the source of sound and saw very familiar girls. Same girls back from the makeup shop. I felt Jukyung stiffen beside me as I stared nonchalantly at the girls.
"I feel like I have seen both of you somewhere." I clenched my jaw and grabbed Jukyung's hand.
I didn't want to face them right now. I do recognize them from my memory.
"Driver, we are leaving at this stop." I stood up, dragging Jukyung with me.
"You need to move for us to go." I gave them a cold glare and moved while bumping her shoulders.
"How rude!"
I heard behind me but I didn't care. I wanted Jukyung to feel okay.
"Do you feel okay now?" I asked as she sat on the bench and breathed out.
"I thought they were troublemakers that's why I was scared." She says and I put a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
"Of them? C'mon, you are strong girl Lee Jukyung."
You are strong girl Ju-Bal.
That's what Jukyung heard. She looked at you as you were the only one she could trust.
"Wanna grab tteobokki on our way back?"
I asked thinking that it will lighten her mood a little and it did work. She smiled and nodded. After that we went back to our home to relax.
As soon as I reached home, I sprawled on my sofa and stretched. I moaned in satisfaction and made myself comfortable.
I didn't realise when I slept and I think Ms.Choi didn't wake me up because she saw how tired I was.
I was jolted awake by the sound of 'Lovegame' music. To be precise, my phone's ringtone. I ignored it and turned away from it.
Ms.Choi heard the sound of her ringtone and went to pick up the phone. She wouldn't do that but Y/N was sleeping and the person on the other side of the phone call must know this and do not disturb her.
"Hello." Ms.Choi said when she picked up the call.
You see, on the other side of the phone was Lee Soo-ho who was currently in denial that he lost a game to imaginary Seojun.
He saw that he accidentally called Y/N and now the call was picked up so he had to talk. However, that voice was not of Y/N.
"Is Y/N home?" Soo-ho asked as the person on the other side of the phone spoke up.
"She is sleeping right now."
"Oh. I am sorry to disturb." He was about to cut the call but voice spoke up again.
"Could you please tell me your name so that I could tell her that you called." Soo-ho frowned.
You posted a photo of yourself with Seojun and have not saved his number? Bitter.
But what he heard next made him frown even more.
"Also because it is saved as 'Brooding boy'."
He could feel the person laughing under their breath as his cheeks began to warm up.
"My name is Lee Soo-ho. Thank you." Then they hung up and Soo-ho went into deep thought.
Brooding boy?
Am I that much of an emo?
"Who is it Ms.Choi?" I asked grogilly, half asleep as she said.
"Some boy named Lee Soo-ho." My brows furrowed as I sat up and took my phone.
"Y/N.....is he your-"
"God no!"
"I didn't even say that."
She laughed a little and nodded her head.
"That's good because I ship you with Seojun." I gave her a 'seriously' look and she laughed even more.
"I mean his voice wasn't that bad. Is he a scorer?"
"You are having too much fun Ms.Choi." I said and stood up with my phone and began to walk upstairs.
"Do make them meet me!"
Unbelievable.
This is not getting me anywhere. Every single person is getting the wrong idea now. School, home. I hope I don't get the wrong idea, I mean, they are just being them....right?
I called him again and waited from him to pick up.
"Is something the matter?" I asked.
"Yes. You owe me something."
Hold the fuck up-
"Since when?" I asked almost immediately.
"Since when you took my chemistry notes."
I was perplexed by this time. I never asked for his notes.
"Firstly, I would never need someone's notes to write. Secondly, even if I did, Soo-jin would be the first person I would go to." I straightforwardly stated however a mocking scoff was heard on the other line.
"All I know that my notes are with you and you need to return it now." I stood up to check my bag and turns out, it actually had his notes. I couldn't understand when I took it. Maybe accidentally?
"Ugh..." I let out a frustration groan and put the phone one my ear once again.
"Where do I have to come?" I asked and he immediately responded with.
"Playground"
"Why? You wanna take a swing?" I joked and to my surprise he chuckled.
Goddamit, he chuckled...?
"I deserve ramen for making your grumpy ass laugh."
I swear I said that in my mind.
Or maybe not.
