"Did you like that movie?" Valerie asked holding my hand as we walked down the street.

"Well I couldn't watch it to much, you kept kissing on my neck making me feel things below" I smiled at her

"Sorry I just can't keep my hand off you, your too sexy" She said leaning over kissing my cheek.

"Babe.." I trailed

"Yeah"

"We have been together for a while now right"

"Uh yeah what are you getting at?" She questioned

"I was wondering what if we moved in together" I said causing her to stop walking.

"What?" She asked with a small smile

"My place is starting to get to crowded with Paula moving in & Cliff & Jason fight all the time." I went on & she giggled at me.

"Come on I just want us to be together all the time you know not sneaking around you leaving at 3 am" I bit my lip walking closer to her.

She sighed, "Maya I would love that but it wouldn't feel right you moving into the house that I shared with my ex wife." I looked down but Valerie but her hand under neath my chin & made me look at her.

"So we will buy our own house together" I smiled & leaned in kissing her dead on the lips.

"I love you so much" I said smiling.

"Moving?" Cliff asked cleaning up the counter.

"Yeah you know the loft is paid off & you guys can stay here as long as you want too." I said folding my arms

"Maya you can't leave us" Paula said

"Why can't I?" I asked

"Look I am not leaving the state I am just not going to live here it's to fucking crowded here & I can't ask Valerie to move in here"

"Valerie, Valerie, Valerie, That's all you care about is her ever since you too got back together it's like we dont fucking matter" Cliff said glancing at me.

"Babe chill" Jason said standing up.

"Naw Jay she needs to hear this, everyday it's always Valerie says this Valerie likes this, what about us Maya we been down since forever but you push us to the side for some pussy"

I shook my head scoffing, "First off your the ones who told me to go after her if I loved her secondly I am a grown ass woman yes I appreciate everything y'all did for me but it's time for me to move on, this was my place first when Jason lost his job & y'all needed a place to stay I let you stay here no rent no anything! So yes, I am choosing some pussy over y'all!" I said starting to walk away.

"Everyone let's chill" Paula said.

"Yes we told you to go after her but we didn't expect for you to turn on your family!" Jason yelled causing me to stop in my tracks.

I turned back toward my brother who seemed very upset.

"Family!" I yelled walking back toward him.

"We haven't been family in years Jason!" I yelled regretting it as soon as it came out of my mouth.

"Maya!" Paula yelled.

"Fuck that, when dad died yes you took me in but you had too ok we had nobody else so don't talk to me about family!"

"Fuck you Maya we don't need this shit, Let's go cliff" Jason said

"No fuck you all, always worried about me I am a grown ass woman who deserves happiness & love! Something I never got from any of you!" I yelled back.

"When she hurts you again don't come crying to us!" Cliff said & He & Jason stormed out of my house.

I stared sobbing & Paula came over hugging me tightly.

"It's ok Maya" We embraced in a tight hug.

"No it's not" I sobbed more.

I never knew that my brother & Cliff felt like I was choosing someone else other them but I had to do what was best for me & for the woman I loved.

The next few days I tried to call Jason & Cliff but heard nothing back from them Paula told me that they came & got they're stuff & left money for what they owed me I wanted to give it back to them but just decided to keep it.

I was at work when a knock came on my door, "Yes" I said & the door opened revealing my assistant Donna.

"Hey Maya I know you said no more walk in's but there is a woman out her wanting to see you."

"Why?" I asked

"I don't know she said it's important" I raised an eyebrow standing up walking behind her back up the front desk.

"Excuse me?" I said causing the black haired woman to turn around.

"Auntie Joi?" I questioned not believing that I am staring at my mother's sister who I haven't seen since I was 16.

"Hey Maya Bear" She went to hug me but I backed away.

"No, what are you doing here, how did you find me?"

She took a deep breath, "Jason told me but Maya you need to come back home"

"To Dallas hell no"

"Maya your mother is sick" She said with cracking in her voice.

"What?" I question caught completely off guard I thought nobody knew where she was but obviously I was wrong.

"She is in kidney failure you & Jason need to come home now yo-"

"I dont need to do shit she left us! And you expect me to go along with it & act like she was a perfect mother no"

"Ma-"

"Get out" I said but she kept trying to talk.

"Did you hear me get the hell out!" I yelled

She shook her head walking out, "shit!"

Why now does my mom want to see me she had years to come back in my life but she didn't, Honestly I didn't care to see her but I wanted to hear her explanation.
