Chapter Fourteen

Today Maya was coming back from her trip to Dallas she told me her mom died the night before she couldn't even cry because they weren't close, she said that her mom apologized for everything but of course Maya was not buying it, Jason went with her & they talked about everything so I decided to make her a welcome home dinner & just take care of her.

I know we talked about moving in together & I want that bad but I know she needs time to heal from everything & I want her to be happy before we do anything drastic

I made her some dinner & turned the lights down low before Turning on some soft Jazz, As I was waited for my lover my phone started ringing.

I picked it up off the counter & saw Drew calling me, I declined it not wanting to deal with her drama right now.

Just then the doorbell rung & I knew it was Maya I hurried over to the door fixing myself before opening the door.

"Babe!" I said pulling her inside attacking her with kisses.

"You really missed me huh?" She asked closing the door behind her.

"You know it & baby I am sorry about your mom" I said leading her toward the couch.

"It's ok, I need a drink" She said

"Ok I will get it" I said standing from the couch walking over to the counter grabbing the bottle of wine & two glasses walking back over toward her.

"Here you go" I said & she poured some wine downing it.

"Maya slow down you good?" I asked

"Yeah I just got a lot on my mind." She admitted pouring another drink.

I just nodded knowing she was going through a lot but drinking was not the answer.

We finished dinner now we were on the couch making out, I just wanted to take her mind off everything she was going through but of course my phone interrupted everything.

"Don't answer that" She said sucking on my neck as I moaned softly.

"Baby what are you doing?" I asked getting so wet.

"Trying to fuck you" She said putting her lips back on mine.

My phone rung once more, "Fuck" Maya said stopping grabbing my phone off the table.

"Why is Drew calling you?" She asked moving back from me.

"I don't know I am here with you right now" I said trying to touch her again but she shook her head standing up.

"No Valerie, what does she want?"

"I don't know Maya! Why are you tripping?" I asked standing up folding my arms.

"I dont know Valerie maybe explain to me why my girlfriend's ex wife is calling her when she knows it's over between you too"

"Maya listen we are done, I am trying to be here for you I know your juggling a lot of stuff but you don't have to take it out on me & you drinking is not the way to handle things."

"Valerie, I am trying my best to get over this but I can't ok!" She said throwing my phone on the couch & started crying.

"Baby" I said walking toward her but she backed away.

"No, no, no, I am tried of always trying to fix everybody else's problems but I can't fix my own, my mom waited till she was on her death bed to tell me she was sorry Valerie!"

"What was so wrong with me that she just left us & never looked back! Do you know she had another Daughter that she raised & loved, what about me huh!"

"Sweetie" She cried harder & I finally pulled her into me embracing her in a tight hug.

"It's alright baby I am here for you" I said trying to sooth her.

"I know" she hugged me tighter but a knock came on the door & interrupted us again.

I stepped back, "Hold on" I said & walked over to the door as Maya wiped her tears.

I swung the door opened & saw Drew standing there with blood all over her.

"Val..." She trailed with tears in her eyes.

"Drew" I said confused.

"What happened to you?" I asked letting her in closing the door.

"What the hell?" Maya asked causing Drew to look over at my girlfriend.

"Drew why do you have blood on you?"

"I.. I killed her" She stumbled.

"What? You killed who?"

"Angie" She mumbled.

Maya folded her arms confused just like me, "You killed angie?"

She nodded & Tears came to her eyes again, She sat down on the couch shaking her head putting her head in her hands.

"What did you do Drew?" I asked sitting next to her.

"She came to my house demanding we be together now  that we are divorced she said she broke up with Brandee so we could be together but I didn't want that so she started hitting me & we was on the floor fighting when..." she trailed

Maya just looked at her, I know what she was thinking & at the moment I couldn't deal with that drama

"When what?" I asked

"I pushed her off me & ran to the couch reaching under it grabbing my gun & I shot her twice once in the shoulder & once in the chest."

"Fuck" I hissed

"I dont know what to do that's why I was calling you Val"

"Did you call the police?"

"No I can't, do you know I will go to jail"

"I know, well we need to do something"

"Like what?" Maya asked

"We have to hide the body & if Maya is ok with it you can stay here until every blows over"

No matter the situation between us, Drew is my family always we have a daughter together & not going to lie a part of me still has love for her.

"I guess so" Maya mumbled.

"I am going to go home, good night" She said gathering her stuff from the counter.

"Babe wait" I said following her to the door.

She opened the door & turned back toward me.

"Good night" She said then walked out with me calling her name but she was gone.

Why does this shit always happen to me.
