Chapter Seven

I fixed my ponytail & turned the bathroom light out walking in my bedroom closing the door sitting on the floor & I grabbed my phone dialing the number Jason got from Valerie.

"Hello" She answered.

"Hi" I simply said with a small smile on my face.

"I stopped by earlier"

"I heard I am so sorry I missed you"

"Sorry I missed you too"

I chuckled a bit & so did she, "How are you though?"

"I am ok just dealing with stuff how are you?"

"Umm I talked to Jax the other day" I said catching her off guard.

"What did she say?"

"She was really upset about the situation Have you talk to her?" I said not trying to tell about Jax being in love with me.

"No she still isn't talking to me" She sighed.

"I am sorry Honey"

"You don't have to call me that anymore" She said

"I liked it but honestly I love Valerie"

"My mom started calling me that when I was a baby"

"Wow now I see why you wanted me too call you that"

"Maya, I really do like you"

I laid my head back against the wall sighing, "I like you too Valerie"

We talked a bit more & then I went to grab something out the fridge when I heard arguing coming from Jason's & Cliff's room.

Jason came out the room slamming the door, "What's going on?" I asked

"Nothing you know how cliff is" He said sitting at the island.

"Yeah I do, look at us having all these relationship problems." I shook my head sitting next to him.

"I know sis, but tell me what is it about this girl that got your nose wide opened?"

"She's not like those other's girls I dated"

"She must have that good pussy"He said chuckling hitting my shoulder with his shoulder.

"Shut up its not that though, it's like she is not like anyone of  my ex's she is a real woman"

"Honestly I thought you was just trying to get laid but now I see it's something just more deep, Maya I get it we went through a lot as kids nobody wanting us & daddy dying so early but look at us we are both black gay & successful your practice is coming along & I am top sous chef"

"Why didn't mom want us Jay?"

"I dont know Mimi but it's her loose"

"I guess your right" I said shrugging

"We over came a lot together"

I gave him a small smile, "you right we did" I laid on his shoulder

"I love you sis whatever makes you happy I am happy"

"I love you too fool now go make up with Cliff."

Just then Cliff came out the room walking over to my brother.

"I am sorry babe come on" He rubbed Jason's shoulder.

"Alright" He said smiling standing up looking at Me one more.

"I love you sis" He kissed my head.

"I love you too" I said.

I was finally signing the papers for my new practice it felt great knowing that I could do this for my people. I wish Jax could be here She loved to see me succeed in everything I do but I know we couldn't do that anymore.

I went back home to make dinner for Valerie & I, we talked about getting to know each other more & I was happy about that but I knew that it was only going to last so long.

Jason & Cliff went out to give us some privacy, I finished & went to take a shower & freshen up.

Once I was done I turned on some music & made sure everything was perfect.

Just then the doorbell rung, I rushed over getting all the reckless off my dress before opening the door but to my discovery it wasn't who I thought it was.

"Jax what are you doing here?" I asked taking a step back.

"Jason told me you signed the papers today, Listen I know things ended badly between us but I meant what I said Maya I love you & I am always going to be here for you"

"I really appreciate that Jax but you have to go" I said

"Why?" She asked pushing past me seeing I had everything laid out.

"What is all this?" She asked smiling.

"Nothing, Jax please go"

"Why you have someone coming over?" She asked walking close to me.

"Yes now you-"

"Hey Maya" I heard Honey say from the side of me, Jax looked over & saw her mom.

Honey stood there with a bottle of champagne & a nervous look on her face.

"Jax" Valerie said

I moved away from Jax, she got that angry look her face again.

"This is who you are seeing?" Jax asked

"Jax listen we never meant for any of this to happen" I said

"Sweetie can we please talk about this?" Valerie asked

Jax shook her head no, "No we can't what about Drew mom"

Valerie took a deep breath, "Honey Drew & I are not together you know this"

"But why do you have to do this to me, Maya is half your age"

"But we are both consenting adults Jax ok"

Jax looked over at me, "Do you like my mom Maya?"

I looked between the two of them, "Yes" I locked eyes with Valerie.

"Well I hope the best for both of you" Jax said running out pushing past us.

"Jax" Valerie called but she was gone.

"Damn it" I said shaking my head.

Well there goes our happy evening.
