Chapter 25
I Adopted A Villainous Dad
I found my dad interrogating Callian adorable. I was going to die of his cuteness. âBut, Daddy, how did you know we were here?â I could feel his shoulder stiffen as he held me.
âI just came outside.â
âWhat a liar.â âDaddy, did youâ¦â I bit down on my lips before continuing, âDid you come out to see me?â âOh my god, Hallelujah.â Miltiades looked at my teary eyes and gave up on explaining himself. âHow is my dad so kind? I can practically move in⦠Iâm moving into your heart.â
ââ¦â Miltiades didnât know how to react as he stared at me. I didnât even care as I rubbed my cheek on his neck.
âAre you okay now?â he asked.
âYeah! I feel a lot better!â
âThatâs a relief.â Daddy smiled at me as I nodded.
Callian then interrupted our conversation, âIâm so glad youâre feeling better. We can finally be on our way in two daysââ
Bam!
Miltiades moved Callianâs face away and turned toward me. âWeâre going to Helsarose in two days.â
ââ¦?â âWhat is going on?â âHelsarose? In two days?â
âYes.â
âOh, weâre finally going to the palace!â I was excited about going to the legendary palace, but then I recalled something important. I had to get it out of the way. âDaddy, thereâs something Iâm curious about.â
âWhat is it?â
âIf we go to Helsarose, whatâs going to happen to the people I saved?â I didnât point out the male lead because Miltiades didnât like him. I then sent a signal to Callian. âHurry and help me out!â
Callian didnât realize anything as he responded to my question, âWeâre not particularly sure, but weâll let the free people go and keep the slaves.â
I quickly looked at Miltiades after listening to Callian. It didnât look like he wanted to set anyone free. âHe usually kills them or gets rid of them.â It wasnât safe for Kais to be with Miltiades.
âDaddy.â I smiled even wider than usual and held onto his clothes so that he couldnât reject me. He seemed to have realized something, and his expression changed. âDaddy, I saved lots of people.â
âYou did.â
âDid I do a good job?â
ââ¦â
Callian responded instead, âYou did a great job. Youâre definitely the saintess.â
Yes, this was why I had bribed him. I needed to get compliments. Callian looked happy as I gloated a bit. I then asked Daddy again, âDid I really do a good job?â âTell me what a good job I did.â
Daddy finally nodded. âYes, you did a good job.â
âSo you should compliment me, right?â

â⦠Yes.â
âAnd I should get a prize?â
ââ¦â Miltiades flattened his eyes. âWhat do you want?â
I was waiting for those words. âWellâ¦â I couldnât tell him what I wanted right away. It would be too obvious! I waited a bit, and Miltiades made a face.
âDo you want gold?â
âHmâ¦â
âIt seems thereâs something else you want.â
I neither agreed nor disagreed. I just laughed a bit, and Daddy furrowed his brows with a complicated expression. âCallian, whatâre you doing? Say something!â
Callian did as I wished. He said, âYour Majesty, gold is too secular. What about giving the saintess something sheâd like?â
ââ¦â Miltiades looked at me as he thought about it. âTell me what you want. Iâll do anything.â
I was waiting for this! I immediately responded, âGive me those people!â Give me all the people I saved! âI saved them all, so Iâll take responsibility!â Miltiadesâs face froze as I grinned. He looked like he wanted to say no, but I held my hands together with an expectant gaze so that he couldnât. âIs he going to reject me?â
âHm?â Miltiades was on the verge of saying no and trying to change the subject when he heard those words.
âYou can!â Miltiadesâs face fell at Callianâs outburst.
âAh! Really?â
âYou saved them, so of course, you should take care of them!â
ââ¦â
I could feel the anger Miltiades exuded and how much he wanted to kill Callian. Callian glanced at me and coughed. âYour Majesty, you were still deciding on what to do with them anyway. Isnât it meaningful for them to give their lives to the saintess? Donât do you think so?â
I heard my dad mutter, âThat bastard,â under his breath. Callian didnât seem to care about the glare directed at him, and he looked at Miltiades with the same expectant gaze as I did. Two times the expectations! Eventually, my dad gave up.
ââ¦Fine.â His voice wasnât happy at all, but he had given his permission. It was our win.
âYay! Youâre the best!â I grabbed his neck and celebrated. He looked at my giddy self with a mixed expression as if he were thinking âas long as she likes itâ. âI have no one else but you! I like you the most in the world!â I kissed Miltiadesâs cheek, and his eyes widened. He was so cute I wanted to kiss his other cheek.
ââ¦!â The people next to us were shocked. Callian put his hand over his mouth and made a face as though he had seen something he wasnât supposed to.
âThe saintess⦠kiss⦠kissed⦠His Majesty!â He made it sound like I had killed someone. I looked at Miltiades, who remained frozen.
ââ¦?â I waved my hands in front of his eyes, but he didnât give a response. It looked like he wouldnât react to anything. âWait! Is this an opportunity?â I grabbed onto my frozen dad as a great idea came to my mind. âDaddy! Thereâs one more thing I want!â
* * *
â⦠So you brought me here?â Kais said when we reached the training grounds.
âYup!â I smiled and nodded. Kais looked at me with a dumbfounded expression as I continued, âI worked really hard for this precious opportunity.â
ââ¦â
It was an opportunity made by a kiss. A spar between Kais and Miltiades. âDoes he think itâs easy to get such an opportunity?â I was hoping that Kais would act better after experiencing Miltiadesâs strength, but it was a good chance for him as well. He would drastically improve after going against a strong opponent.
âYou told me that you wonât make me regret this.â Kais flinched.
I looked at his star-like eyes and smiled. âRemember what I said? Prove to me that youâre useful.â When I said that, his gaze immediately changed. He seemed like a different person as he wordlessly looked into my eyes. Even though I was pretending like this was a fair exchange, Kais probably knew the truth. There was no reason for me to make such a deal.
âTry blocking his attacks for thirty seconds,â I told him what to do as I handed him a sword. Enduring Miltiades for 30 seconds would be a feat for anyone, but Kais made a face.
â⦠Ten minutes,â he softly replied and grabbed onto the weathered sword. âIâll win.â
ââ¦!â Kais held the sword and walked toward the middle of the training grounds. âIs he crazy?â I wondered. He was declaring his win against Miltiades while being nine years old.
Miltiades was already standing in the middle of the training grounds with a sword in his hands. He then saw Kais nod at him without an ounce of fear. âWell, at least heâs enthusiastic.â
Miltiadesâs eyebrows twitched. He seemed to be annoyed. âLetâs start.â
Hearing his words, Kais positioned himself. He didnât look like a kid as he launched himself at Miltiades.
Pat!
Miltiades avoided Kaisâs attack as if he didnât care, then grabbed onto his neck.
âUgh!â
Miltiades threw Kais to the ground in one second and asked, âAre you going to try again?â
I didnât know if he had gotten hurt after being thrown onto the floor, but Kaisâs expression wasnât good. I stood up in worry. However, Kais grit his teeth and got up.
Miltiadesâs eyes flashed. He initially didnât care, but it now seemed like he was having fun. Nevertheless, Kais lost in one second again.
âHeâs impressive for a young kid.â
âI want to move like His Majesty.â
âItâs probably difficult for him to breathe with that bloodlust.â
Berrict seemed to be having fun watching Kais. Callian looked at Miltiadesâs movement and remarked, âThatâs His Majesty for you. No unnecessary movements!â
I shook my head and turned back to the spar. It looked more like a punishment than a spar. After falling to the floor and getting up a few times, Kais had started panting.
âItâs time to end it.â Miltiades spun his sword a few times as it glinted gold.
âIs he going to use aura on a kid?â He was getting too serious! I was holding my hands together and fidgeting when I saw Miltiades point his sword at Kaisâs neck. ââ¦!â I held my breath.
Kais was the most surprised of all of us. The sword that had been pointing at his throat was now stuck into the wall next to him. A bit of Miltiadesâs aura had scratched his neck and left a thin trail of blood.
âRemember this feeling, kid.â Miltiades slowly spoke, âThe next time you feel it, youâll be dead.â
ââ¦!â It sounded like he was threatening Kais, but he was teaching him. If Kais ever felt an aura assault him like this, death was certain.
Miltiades threw his sword. It couldnât deal with the aura and broke apart. I hadnât cared when I had seen divine power for the first time, but I was interested in seeing Miltiadesâs aura. âHow can someone be that bright?â
Miltiades looked at me after throwing his sword. I had to⦠clap! âDaddy, youâre so cool!â Miltiades smiled as he saw my genuine happiness. He was proud of himself. My favorite character was so cute that I couldnât breathe.
