Chapter 10

Creatures of the Dark Series

Sorin found it hard to resist her. The magnetic pull of his mate would only grow stronger once she tasted his blood.

She was likely experiencing desires similar to what he’d felt when he first woke up next to her. He didn’t want her to come to her senses and regret anything, but the pull was too strong.

Sorin returned her kiss, tilting her head to deepen the connection. She tasted divine. Too tempting for him to resist. His hands explored her legs. Her thigh seemed to have healed already.

He’d heard that a mate’s blood had extraordinary healing properties, but she-wolves were rare. His knowledge was based on information passed down from generations ago. Mates were hard to come by. He didn’t personally know any wolf who’d found their mate.

Sorin needed blood too, but he was hesitant about taking Colette’s. She wasn’t in the right state of mind to give consent. But Sorin had been in a fight with another wolf, and he’d been bitten a few times. He could feel the weakness and fatigue from blood loss.

“Colette,” he whispered against her lips.

He needed to make her stop. When she was in her right mind, she’d made it clear that she had no intention of sleeping with him. He couldn’t take advantage of her. He also couldn’t risk drinking her blood.

If Colette, who initially had no interest in sex, was this aroused, Sorin stood no chance. If he drank her blood, he would undoubtedly be inside her within minutes.

Colette pulled back, using her weight to pull him over her body. She wrapped her legs around his waist and pulled his groin into hers, grinding against him passionately.

“Sorin,” she moaned, arching her back. Her breasts pressed into his chest as she rubbed against him like a dog in heat.

“Colette, my love,” he began.

She purred at his term of endearment, one of her hands reaching down the front of his pants. “My love,” she echoed.

He tried to pull away from her but couldn’t. Before she’d tasted his blood, he could’ve easily overpowered her. Now, she was a force to be reckoned with. The only way he could escape her grasp was if she let him go.

“Yes, my love,” he soothed. “I want to be inside you so badly.”

She nodded in agreement. “Mm-hmm…” she hummed. “Please.”

“But—”

“But?”

He nodded. “I need to use the bathroom.”

She pouted but let him go. “Hurry back, Sorin.”

He nodded, jumped off the bed, and left the room. Once he was out of the room, he headed for the bathroom. He hadn’t lied to Colette about where he was going, just about what he was going to do there.

He closed the door quietly, turning the lock as gently as he could. There was no way he’d sleep with her in this state. Not if he wanted her to stay in his life willingly.

He slid down the door, pressing his feet against the bathroom sink for added support.

It wasn’t even two minutes before Colette was at the door, tapping lightly. “Sorin,” she sang. “Are you almost done, my love?” she called out to him.

“No,” he replied hoarsely, her playful tone making his body tense.

Her nails scraped at the wood, seductive yet threatening. “Will you be coming out soon?” she asked, her voice laced with a hint of menace.

He paused for a moment. “Uh…no?”

There was a brief silence before she asked in a sweet tone, “Are you avoiding me, Sorin?”

He panicked. Should he tell the truth or lie? “Not exactly.”

“Do you ~want~ to have sex with me?”

His pulse quickened, and his palms immediately broke out in sweat. “Of course,” he blurted out. “Eventually.”

“Eventually?” she demanded. “~You~ wanted me first, buddy. What happened? You only like them struggling and unwilling?” She pounded on the door. The knob jiggled as she tried to open the door.

He growled under his breath. “You didn’t want me.”

“I want you ~now~.” She let out a groan.

“Because you drank my blood,” he replied.

“Do you want to taste mine?” she cooed.

Sorin’s blood felt like it was boiling. “I will have sex with you—”

“Oh goody, open the door,” she urged.

“—on one condition,” he finished.

She stopped rattling the knob and shaking the door. “And what is that, Sorin?”

“We wait. I will have sex with you tomorrow morning, first thing. If you still want to.”

He prayed she still wanted to. It usually took two to five days for the blood to completely leave her system. But as the hours passed, she’d be less influenced by her primal urges.

“You think I won’t want you in the morning, Sorin?” She clicked her tongue at him. “I can play your game, prolong the foreplay.”

He gulped, picturing her naked and sprawled across his bed, a hand between her legs, the other squeezing one of her swollen breasts. Unfortunately, he was sure that she would not want to have sex with him. Once the influence of the blood wore off, she’d regret everything. He didn’t want her to regret their first time together.

“You’ll need to come out eventually, Sorin,” she sang to him, her voice carrying a hint of threat. “To eat. I’ve seen how much you eat.”

She was right. He hadn’t eaten all day since the first thing Colette wanted to do was go for that walk. He needed much more food than he was currently consuming.

“Fine. Don’t come out. I’ll be waiting in your bed. Naked,” she said, her voice breathy.

~Naked. ~He remembered waking up next to her twelve days ago: the warmth of her naked skin, her scent, the softness of her ebony hair spread across his chest and arm, her breath fanning across his skin. He couldn’t help but admire her with his eyes.

Her skin was as white as milk, laced with delicate veins. Her full, round breasts rested on his chest, crowned with small pink nipples. Her waist was a slender curve, leading to her wide hips. Seeing her spread out on his bed, her eyes filled with desire...

Sorin felt an overwhelming urge to bolt. He flung open the bathroom window and jumped out into the snow. He paused for a moment, half-expecting Colette to chase after him. When she didn’t, he began to strip off his clothes.

He needed to run, to hunt, to feed on an animal. He couldn’t stay there with Colette, or he’d surely take her.
