Chapter 34

Creatures of the Dark Series

Colette found a moment of calm, just long enough to remember the flask of Sorin’s blood she’d tucked away in her clothes. As soon as she had the cap off, the pain came rushing back. Without a second thought, she started gulping down his blood.

Almost immediately, the pain began to ebb, and she could finally breathe. It was like an epidural for childbirth. Colette sat up and looked around. Her vision was sharper, and she could hear every conversation happening around her.

Even as she felt her bones crunching and shifting, it didn’t hurt as much with Sorin’s blood in her system. ~Sorin~. Her eyes scanned the crowd until they landed on him. Her blood heated up like molten lava, pooling between her legs.

She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and licked the remaining blood off her lips. She saw his eyes following the movement of her tongue, his expression shifting from panicked desperation to sexual desperation.

Even in the midst of such horrific circumstances, a seductive smile spread across Colette’s lips.

It was definitely a reaction to Sorin’s blood. She could already feel him inside her, his blood stirring in her belly, and the thought of having him inside her in a different—more sensual—way was tantalizing. She suddenly craved him sexually, more than she ever had before.

Her back arched and her head jerked back as her body made its final adjustments. Her arms bent and shifted, her nose lengthened, and her ears moved up her head.

She felt her spine stretch and her legs shift. As she fell to the ground, everything fell into place, and she felt the rope slip from her wrists.

The crowd around her parted, and she saw the gate doors slowly open. Without a second thought, Colette took off.

Ylenia released Sorin’s bindings, and he shifted in seconds, his clothes shredding around him, and chased after her. She was faster than him since she was newly shifted.

Her wolf had never been used and had a lot of pent-up energy. She was fast, and he was slowly losing sight of her as they left his compound and ventured into the unmarked territory.

Sorin was worried that Colette might accidentally wander into another pack’s territory, which would leave her vulnerable as a newly shifted she-wolf.

~She had shifted.~ The thought hit him.

She was his mate, and with her wolf now at the forefront of her being, she would live as long as he would. She would be much stronger and resilient.

Sorin thought about how she’d be able to handle his lovemaking full force. He wouldn’t have to hold back with her.

Now that she’d shifted, he wondered if she’d see him as intensely as he saw her. If her wolf knew they were mates like his did.

He skidded to a stop as she moved out of his line of sight. He didn’t want her to get lost, but he knew he would never be able to catch up to her. He let out a long howl, trying in vain to call her back to him.

She didn’t return, and he wasn’t surprised. Her wolf had been suppressed for over twenty years. This run was long overdue for her, and he didn’t want to be the one to try to stop her. Not even Dancescu had tried. He’d ordered the current border patrol to open the gates for her.

Sorin waited impatiently, pacing back and forth. He realized after a while that he was whimpering, afraid she’d gone too far and been kidnapped, or maybe she’d decided to return to her human life. With her newly developed lycan senses, she’d easily be able to find her way home by scent.

Sorin found himself following her crisp autumn scent. She seemed to have been avoiding other packs without any help from him. She could probably smell the change in territory.

He let out another howl into the night, calling for her. Maybe she was too far away, or maybe she was just too crazed to respond. He stayed in wolf form, afraid she wouldn’t recognize him in his human form and kill him. She was probably starving and restless.

Sorin followed her for a long time as the sky started to lighten and the sun broke through the trees. Colette’s scent had started to overlap and seemed to be circling him.

He heard leaves crunching and rustling off to the side. He froze instantly.

A pure black she-wolf stepped out of the trees and sat, blinking at him slowly with her icy blue eyes. Her head tilted to the side playfully.

With the sun now reaching the tops of the trees, Sorin knew the shifting spell would’ve passed with the full moon, and he shifted back into his human form.

“Colette, my love,” he murmured, stepping closer to his mate.

She just blinked blankly.

“Colette,” he tried again, moving closer until he was kneeling in front of her. “Do you think you can shift back on your own?” The full moon spell had forced her into her wolf form, but shifting back might be a challe—

In seconds, where the black she-wolf had sat, Colette’s human form took its place.

“My love,” he started, ready to launch into a long speech about her new wolf form and what she meant to him, but as soon as he opened his mouth, her lips were on his. Hot and wet, her tongue forced its way past his lips, exploring his entire mouth.

He wanted to wait, to talk about what they were first, but she was determined as she pushed him over and straddled his waist.

With no clothes in the way, he felt his cock harden and press against her wet pussy. Moisture soaked the tip as Colette slid back and forth, grinding herself against him.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and deepened the kiss, tasting his mouth thoroughly. Her breasts pressed against his chest, her hard nipples scraping against him. Suddenly, she pulled up, positioning herself over his shaft.

“Colette,” he rasped, his thoughts slowly coming together once her lips left his. “Don’t do anything rash. Please,” he pleaded. “I don’t want you to regret anything.”

Her eyes were clouded with lust, an erotic blush coloring her skin. “I won’t,” she moaned and dropped all of her weight down onto his length.
