Chapter 2034 Scolding
Honey We Are Not Getting Remarried: Get Away From Me!
The next day, Elisa woke up early.
Perhaps due to the hot spring visit yesterday, she woke up today feeling refreshed and didnât feel like oversleeping.
She glanced at the time and saw it was around seven in the morning. Upon sending a text message in the group chat, she was met with numerous inmediate responses.
Elisa: Anyone wants to join me for breakfast?
Affirmative replies quickly came flooding in.
Looks like everyoneâs up and about. Elisa smirked. Soaking in the hot spring truly works wonders for reinvigorating oneself.
The group agreed to meet in the lobby downstairs at half past seven.
After freshening up, Elisa made a phone call to Julia, primarily to discuss matters concerning Kaylee, The call rang for a while before it was finally answered by Maria, whose voice sounded a bit peculiar.
-Elisa didnât doubt her. âMaria, is Grandma awake? Could you hand her the phone?â
Mariaâs voice didnât sound too well, as if she was hesitating to say something.
Right then, Juliaâs voice sounded from the other end, and in the next second, it seemed like the phone was snatched away.
âItâs me. What is it?â
Juliaâs voice was exceedingly indifferent, almost sounding emotionless. Despite being mentally prepared. Elisa couldnât help but feel dejected upon hearing it.
She would rather Julia had simply been ill since everything would return to normal once the latter recovered.
Noticing the silence on the other end of the line, Julia continued impatiently, âIf youâre not going to talk, Iâm hanging up.â
Elisa hurriedly began, âGrandma, itâs me, Elisa.â
There was no response from Julia, as she was likely waiting for Elisa to continue.
Suppressing the feeling of disappointment in her heart, Elisa went on, âHereâs the thing. Didnât we say we would return today? I asked Ms. Knapp, and she also wants to stay with us for a few more days, so we will return slightly later. Also, the environment here is quite nice. If you have time, we could-â
Before Elisa could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by Julia.
âJust arrange things as you see fit, but donât let anyone bully her. I must say, if youâre unwilling to take her with you, then send her back to me. Donât think that just because Iâm not there, I wonât know how youâre mistreating her.â
Elisa was somewhat taken aback, both by Julia interrupting her and what the latter had said.
Sheâs openly backing Kaylee and even making me sound so malicious. But I clearly didnât do a thing...
She wanted to defend herself, but at this juncture, words seemed somewhat meaningless.
With a cold humph, Julia walked away from the phone.
Maria picked up the phone again and waited until Julia was out of earshot before saying, âMs. Benett, when you return, itâs best you bring Mr. Gareth to visit Madam Smith. I feel she has been acting very strange lately. Not long ago, she even had your room cleared out for Ms. Knapp as if she were possessed.â
The word âpossessedâ kept echoing in Elisaâs mind.
Is... this the reason?
She snapped back to reality, comforting Maria, âDonât worry, Maria. Weâll be back tomorrow.â
On the other end of the line, Maria nodded vigorously. Moreover, Madam Smith is becoming more and more careless about her health. She used to follow the doctorâs advice meticulously, knowing exactly what she could and couldnât eat. She would never touch anything she wasnât supposed to eat. Iâm sure you know she is not a glutton. But now, she eats without any restraint. Itâs truly...â
Elisa and Maria continued their conversation, and the more they talked, the more they felt that the situation was seriously bizarre.
