“I’m asking you, do you know why she should be kowtowing to you no matter how many times she does?” Gu Junzhu’s eyes were hidden behind his sunglasses, his expression undecipherable. But his tone was indifferent and icy.

Qiao Yi was crying uncontrollably, shaking her head violently.

Gu Junzhu continued to question, “Do you know why you’ve been married to Zhang Heyuan for more than three years and haven’t been able to conceive a child?”

Gu Junzhu let out a cold chuckle.

Gu Chi stepped forward, pulling out several boxes of birth control pills. He walked up to Mother Zhang, who was still crying, pretending to be pitiful and trying to gain sympathy, “Hey! Auntie, may I ask you: why do you, a woman so old and widowed, need so many birth control pills?”

Mother Zhang’s pupils abruptly contracted, her expression horror-stricken, “What…what are you talking about? Why would I buy birth control pills?”

“Don’t deny it, Auntie,” Gu Chi played with the birth control pills in his hand, “since our cousin is divorcing your son, naturally we needed to help her pack and in the process accidentally went into the wrong room. Imagine our surprise when we found these birth control pills in your room. Strange, don’t you think?”

After hearing this, was there anything left that Qiao Yi didn’t understand?

She stared at Mother Zhang in disbelief, pointing to her, “You…you…you’ve been secretly feeding me birth control pills…why? Why would you do such a thing?”

Her face turned pale as she continued to shake her head, “Why would you even think of doing such a thing? The child I am trying to conceive would have been Zhang Heyuan’s blood, too. Why would you have me treated for infertility on one hand and give me birth control pills on the other? Why?”

Zhang Heyuan also looked at his mother in disbelief.

His mother had been secretly giving Qiao Yi birth control pills?

His mother had always wanted a grandchild, she had been desperate for a grandchild, mentioning it every single day, how could she possibly have snuck birth control pills to Qiao Yi?

“So, Auntie, you’re saying these birth control pills weren’t bought by you?” Gu Chi said, fiddling with the birth control pills, “So you’re saying we intentionally placed the birth control pills in your room and then accused you of being the thief?”

“Yes! That’s exactly it!” Mother Zhang spat, anger seething from her, “She can’t conceive, and she’s afraid of ruining her reputation, so she’s fabricated this malicious slander against me. You’re all beyond shameless! ”

Gu Chi asked again, “Auntie, are you sure you’ve never bought these birth control pills?”

“Of course I haven’t!” Mother Zhang said unequivocally, “It’s you! You’ve set this up! All this is designed to throw foul water on me, to clear Qiao Yi’s reputation of not being able to bear children!”

“Auntie, the truth is not told by the one who shouts the loudest. Calm down. You’re spit is flying everywhere. You’re polluting the environment,” Gu Chi disdainfully waved his hand, “Auntie, you claim you’ve never bought birth control pills, you better take responsibility for what you say!”

“Same for anywhere else!” Mother Zhang pushed out her chest, appearing righteous, “I’ve never bought them, and you won’t be able to slander me!”
