Chapter 22 - Vol. 1: Haru To Aiden - 22
Haru's Love (A Stepbrothers BL Harem)
Haru
âOh my God! Oh my God! I canât believe my dream came true. I just canât believe it,â Jess shrieked loudly from the other side of the line. âMy best friend is finally getting together with the man he loves.â
I chuckled. âJess, can you please just calm down?â
âHow the hell can I just calm down when this is the news of the century?â she snapped. âSo, have you guys done it yet? The bedroom stuff.â
I blushed, remembering what had happened only a few hours ago. âYeah.â I paused and then said, âWait! Why do I have to tell you this type of stuff?â
âOf course you donât have to tell me any more. Itâll be weird despite that I kept nagging you to.â She chuckled. âIâm so happy for you, Haru.â
âThanks, Jess,â I said.
âFor what?â
I shrugged. âI donât know. For always being there for me and stuff.â
âThatâs what a best friend is for,â she said.
The door opened, and Aiden, hair wet and now wearing another pair of jeans and a T-shirt, walked in. He saw me in bed and on my cell phone and asked, âJess?â
I nodded.
From the other side of the line, Jess asked, âIs Aiden there?â
âYeah. Heâs here.â
âLet me talk to him for a sec.â
âSure.â I handed the cell to Aiden, who took it with a grin.
âHey, Jess.â Aiden paused for a moment and then said, âI will. Thanks. Bye now.â He terminated the call and then handed me back the cell.
I asked, âWhat did she say?â
âCongratulations.â He chuckled. âShe seriously cares about you. Iâm glad you have such a good friend.â
I nodded. âMe, too.â
âShould we get something to eat? Iâm starving.â
I was, too. After all, it was well past lunchtime.
âIâll make something. Why donât you get dressed?â Aiden suggested.
I nodded.
It was twenty minutes later when we both sat down for some Korean spicy noodles. It might not look it, but Aiden loved spicy food. He even made it fancy with chopped cabbage and some mixed seafood. It smelled amazing.
The two of us were about to dig in when noises erupted from the front door.
âWoah! Smells like Korean spicy noodles.â This came from Isaac. âIs that you, Aiden? I want some.â
âMake that two,â Mason said.
âNo, make that three.â It was Noah this time.
I wondered why they were all home so early. It was only two in the afternoon.
Then, âI donât think Aiden made enough for everyone. Iâll make another pot.â This was Reoâs voice.
A moment later, they all appeared at the kitchenâs door and filed in, taking seats around the table. Isaac even got himself a bowl and started scooping some into it.
âWoah! Thereâs even seafood. Nice,â he said.
Aiden asked, âSo, why are you guys home so early?â
Noah said, a smirk playing about his lips, âBecause we were worried about you both.â
âReally?â Aiden said with a raised brow.
Reo said, âFrom the looks of things, it seems like everything worked out?â
At this, every one of our brothers turned their eyes to me and then Aiden. My face flushed hot from their curious gaze.
Aiden suddenly pulled me to him, made me sit on his lap, and then cupped my face. He planted his lips on mine and kissed me full-out.
âWoah! Theyâre really kissing,â Isaac said.
When Aiden released me, he said, âThatâs our answer.â
My head dazed and my face hot with embarrassment, I wondered if it was okay for us to kiss like this in front of the others. But I guessed itâd be all right since our other brothers didnât seem to be offended by it.
âGood for you both,â Noah said. He turned to Reo. âNoodles?â
Reo nodded. âWant seafood in it?â
âYeah. Prawns. Lots and lots of prawns,â Isaac said.
Mason chuckled. âYou can never get enough of prawns, can you?â
âNever. Itâs one of my favorite types of seafood,â Isaac said.
Turning to me, Mason said, âCongratulations, Haru.â
âWhat for?â I asked.
âFor finally getting together with Aiden, and for starting that bar job you wanted tonight.â
I could only stare at him, pleased. âReally? Iâm starting that bar job tonight?â
He nodded. âThough itâs actually just a trial. If youâre good, then youâll be hired part time.â
âAwesome,â I said, pumped and ready to work to earn the extra cash.
âAbout that,â Aiden said, tightening his arms around me. âIâm wondering if itâs a bad idea after all, for you to work there.â
I turned to look at him. âWhy?â
âBecause I just donât want you to work at a place like that.â
Mason said, âI work there, and youâre fine with it.â
âWell, of course Iâm fine with you working there, but Haru is different. You can look after yourself. Haruâ¦â He looked at me again. âHe just canât.â
Noah looked at me for a moment, too, and then said, âYep. I agree. Haru canât work there. Heâs clueless. An airhead. Now that he has come out a bona fide gay, men will definitely be hitting on him, and we canât have that. Heâs in a relationship with Aiden now. Itâll be troublesome.â
Reo nodded in agreement, too. âItâll be very troublesome. Aiden will go berserk, and none of us will have any peace at home.â
I frowned. Once again, they talked like I wasnât there. I said, âExcuse me, but you forgot that I want to make some money.â
Aiden said, âThen you can come and work at our realty company. We need someone part time to do some minor paperwork.â
âReally?â I asked.
Aiden nodded. âIâll talk to Peter about it. And Tina will only be too happy to have you around the office.â
I grinned, pleased. After all, Iâd be only too glad to get to work with Aiden. Then again, I did promise Mason. Turning to the brother, I asked, âWill that be all right? If I suddenly turn the job down like this?â
Mason waved my concern aside. âItâs okay. My boss just wants you around because youâre cute, after all.â He chuckled.
âWhat?â I snapped. âBut you said it was a trial?â
âWell, he always says that butâ¦â
âI knew it,â Aiden said. âThat sleazy bastard.â He frowned. âHeâs not hitting on you, is he, Mason?â
Mason shook his head. âNo.â
âAnyway,â Reo said as he put another pot of Korean spicy noodle soup on the table. âUncle Jin called me this morning. He said he wants us to come over to Japan, preferably soon. Apparently, heâs been in the hospital, and the doctor has told him to take it easy. He said he found some of Momâs things in the old house he just cleaned out and wants us to take a look at them. We probably want to keep some of them. He said theyâre all old and antique, maybe quite valuable.â
Noah said, âThat sounds interesting. Maybe itâs time we all go on a vacation?â
Aiden nodded. âMm-hmm.â
Reo said, âDonât worry, Aiden, Iâll pay for my own flights and expenses. Iâve saved enough for that sort of thing. You donât have to worry about me.â
Mason nodded. âMe, too.â
Noah said, âMe, three.â
âBut what about me?â Isaac said. âI donât have any savings.â
âThatâs because youâre too lazy to work,â Noah said. âAnd youâre lousy at saving. If you canât afford your own flights, then donât come.â
âThatâs not fair,â Isaac muttered. He turned to Mason. âSay, bro, can I take Haruâs place tonight?â
Mason chuckled. âWhat? Are you interested in working at the bar now?â
âYep. Because I heard you get really good pay there, especially the tips,â he said bluntly, which made everyone laugh.
After a hearty late lunch of spicy noodles, I stood and said, âIâd better get to class.â
Aiden looked at me. âYou have one this afternoon?â
I nodded. âItâs only an hour.â
âThen Iâll drive you.â
âYou sure?â
âIâm sure. Iâm free today, anyway,â he said.
âThen Iâll get my things.â I rushed out the door.
Behind me, I heard Noah say, âHe didnât refuse you this time, Aiden. Usually itâd be âIâm an adult now, and I donât need you to drive me around.ââ He chuckled.
âWhy would he refuse a lift from Aiden when theyâre technically speaking like husband and wife now?â Isaac said.
My face felt hot from hearing that. Isaac, blunt as always.
Mason said, âIâm guessing Haru is the wife, right?â
Reo said, âWell, if heâs the wife, then heâs a lousy one. He canât even do basic housework.â He laughed.
I couldnât help myself and said loudly, âOy! I can hear you guys you know, and FYI, I can so do some housework.â
I heard them burst out laughing, except for Aiden.
Well, it wasnât like I was pissed off with them or anything. It was just the way things were, them teasing me for being the youngest in the family. And what Reo said wasnât far from the truth. I couldnât cook, that was for sure.
I was just putting some textbooks into my bag when Aiden appeared at my bedroom door. He leaned his tall, muscular body against the frame and folded his arms across his chest. He was watching me, a grin on his gorgeous face.
My throat tightened at the sight of him, and without thinking, I dropped the bag onto the bed. Then I went over to him, put my arms over his shoulders and then on tiptoe, I planted my lips on his.
We kissed, slow and gentle. When I moved back, Aiden said, âThat was nice.â
I nodded.
âLetâs go, otherwise youâll be late for class.â
I rushed to get my bag, and then we both headed out the door.
âItte kimasu,â I said.
âItte rashai,â I heard Noahâs, Reoâs, Masonâs, and Isaacâs voices from the kitchen.
After closing the front door, Aiden took my hand into his and held it tightly. Then we both headed to the car, and I had a smile on my face.. I was as happy as ever can be.
