Chapter 12

Special Guests

The Morretti Brothers

Kate arrived an hour early for dinner and was hanging over Luca as he cooked, so to avoid any awkward public displays of affection, Eddie was hiding out in her room.

She had been wearing sweatpants and a singlet until Kate arrived in a bodycon dress. Eddie decided she had to step up her game a little, so she found an outfit in the back of her wardrobe.

Leggings and a baggy T-shirt dress. It wasn’t quite as classy as Kate's, but it was Eddie.

Eddie lay back on her bed after applying a thin layer of makeup. Eddie hardly ever wore makeup, and she certainly wouldn’t have bought it for herself, but it was a gift from Maria last Christmas.

Eddie was sad to leave the Morettis after Thanksgiving, but on the plus side, Christmas was only a few weeks away.

Eddie stood and walked over to the mirror once again to check out her look. She sighed, grabbed her phone off the nightstand, and took a quick selfie before sending it to Marc.

Eddison

Do I look okay?

Marcello

Always Bella.

Marcello

What is wrong?

Eddison

I’m worried about dinner. Kate arrived early looking like a freaking supermodel!

Marcello

You look beautiful Eddie. I’m sure Luca will think so too.

Eddison

You mean Parker.

Marcello

;)

Eddison

Goodnight Marcello.

Marcello

Goodnight Cara. Have fun…

As Eddie put her phone back on the nightstand, she noticed Parker’s pickup parked on the curb.

Quickly leaving her room, she raced out through the lounge to the front door. When she opened it, she found Parker about to knock.

“Wow, you’re good,” he said. He pressed a chaste kiss to her lips before handing over a bunch of lilies. “These are for you.”

“Thank you, Parker, they are beautiful.”

Eddie smiled at him, noticing a bottle of wine in his hands. “Who is the wine for?”

Parker looked over her shoulder, and Eddie turned to see Luca and Kate standing in the doorway of the kitchen. “Uh…this is for Luca. It is red. I hope it goes with dinner.”

Luca looked at Eddie before flickering his gaze to Parker and stepping forward to accept the wine.

“Thanks. It’s great,” Luca said, a smirk forming on his lips. “Kate, show Parker into the lounge. I’m going to finish dinner, and Eddie, we will get a vase for your flowers.”

Everyone followed Luca’s directions as Luca and Eddie walked into the kitchen.

Luca grabbed a vase out from under the sink, filled it with water, and handed it to Eddie. Eddie did her best to arrange the flowers in the vase. She smiled at them, and Luca snorted behind her.

“What?” Eddie turned to face Luca, who had not taken his eyes off her.

“You changed?”

“So?”

“You look nice.” Luca tucked a stray hair behind Eddie’s ear. His fingers brushed Eddie’s cheek, and she felt her skin heat and tingle.

She looked up at him through her lashes. “Uh…thanks.”

“You hate lilies,” Luca stated, turning his head back to the pasta.

“No, I don’t.”

“Oh, I’m sorry. I must have you confused with my other roommate.”

“Shut up, okay? They are beautiful, and I have never had a guy buy me flowers before!” Eddie hissed.

She grabbed the bottle of wine and four wine glasses and headed into the dining room.

“Kate, Parker, would you like a glass of wine?”

“Yes, please,” Parker said as he and Kate walked in from the lounge.

“I’m just going to check on my man. It is so sexy that he can cook. Right, Eddie?”

“Sure,” Eddie said with a fake smile as she handed Parker a glass of wine.

The four sat down and enjoyed dinner. Parker sat next to Eddie with his hand on her thigh. She couldn’t help but notice that her skin didn’t tingle like it did when Luca touched her. Luca sat with Kate on his left.

Luca ate without taking his eyes off Eddie and Parker as Kate found excuses to touch him.

As they finished their pasta, Eddie moved to collect everyone’s plates. Luca noticed how Parker sat back and watched her as she moved, his eyes resting on her ass. Luca stood from his seat.

“Sit down, Ed. I’ll get it,” he said quickly.

“Luciano, you cooked it. It’s the least I can do,” Eddie said, hurrying into the kitchen. When Eddie returned, she sat down at the table to find Kate staring at her.

“Kate, is something wrong?”

“You called him Luciano…,” Kate stated, but it sounded like a question.

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“That is his name,” Eddie said simply, looking from Luca to Kate.

Kate shifted her gaze to Luca, and his lips pressed into a thin line. Eddie rolled her eyes. ~They have been together for two years, and she doesn’t even know his name…~

“So, Luca, should I get dessert?” Eddie said, trying to break the awkward silence.

Luca opened his mouth to reply but was stopped by a knock at the door.

“Ah...I’ll get dessert, you get the door.”

Eddie nodded and walked out of the dining room to the front door. The person knocked again just as Eddie let the door swing open.

A high-pitched squeak came out of the blonde standing in front of her. “Eddison?”

“Bunny?”

“You remember!” Bunny squealed, wrapping her arms around Eddie and pulling her into a hug. “Is Luca here?”

Eddie stepped back from Bunny with a smile. Several thoughts ran through her head. She could tell Bunny “no” and save Luca the trouble or she could invite Bunny in for the after-dinner show.

Eddie looked back to the dining room and then back to Bunny.

Taking a deep breath, she made her choice. Eddie took Bunny by the hand, leading her inside. Just before they reached the dining room, she called out to her roommate.

“LUCA! YOU HAVE A GUEST!”
