Chapter 28: Lynda Keaton
Lynden Makes a Change
It was very busy, emotionally demanding and damn difficult at times, but it was still wonderful.
I was legally adopted by the Keatons with the consent of my birth parents and my name was officially changed to Lynda Keaton. My new mum and I became very close (still are), and Dad Keaton was ever reliable and sensible; in so many ways he was my guide and support through the whole process. My brother Randy and I continued to get on well and shared lots of fun and other activities.
I kept in contact with my birth family and was soon accepted for what I now was except, unfortunately, for Matt. Regrettably, there seemed to be no way that he and I could be reconciled.
During the first year or so, the greatest challenge was probably school. I went off to a new school as a trans girl and copped a lot of abuse, bullying and teasing. It was nasty and unpleasant, but I struggled through it.
The following year Mum and Dad got me into an exclusive girls school. At first I thought it was going to be no different for the other girls avoided me though often giving me strange looks, and there were even some complaints from parents.
However, I might be something of a strange girl, but I was also interesting. After a while I found myself the centre of a large group of girls all curious to know about this weird transition business. I was glad to tell them . . . and I became accepted and I made friends.
I start uni next week; I took a gap year after I graduated from high school to do a bit of travelling with a couple of friends (we had a great time), but mainly to undergo my final gender affirmation surgeries, and that all went well.
When I look back on the early part of my life, I believe the main reason I was such a little shit then was because I was unhappy. Well, I'm certainly not unhappy now.
