Chapter 247
The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage
Cindy strode through the front door just then, carrying shopping bags of various sizes.
âWhere have you been, Cindy?â Gina asked.
Cindy grinned. âShoppingâtalk to you later, Aunt Gina. Iâm busy.â
However, just before she headed upstairs, she spotted the red diamond necklace on the tea table.
âWoah!â she exclaimed as she put down her shopping bags and ran straight for the necklace, picking it up. âThis is a red diamond, isnât it?â
âNaturally.â Gina smiled smugly. âItâs worth over twenty million dollars.â
At those words, Cindy brazenly sling it around her neck and asked Gina, âDoes it look good on me, Aunt Gina?â
Gina had an awkward look on her face right then. âOh, uh⦠Yeah.â
âLend it to me for a couple days then.â Cindy giggled.
Gina frowned right then. âChris gave it to Helen. Itâs not really good if you wear it I can buy you something else if you really like it.â
Peter snorted in disdain beside her. âTake it off right now. Itâs not yours Cindy leveled a wounded look at Helen right then, though she soon had an idea.
âOh, itâs yours, Helen?â she exclaimed, suddenly clinging on Helenâs arm. âYâknow, Iâve never won something so amazing⦠And youâre not going to wear it anyway, so why not lend it to me for a couple of days?â
âTake it off,â Helen said, frowning. âIâm going to return it to Chris.â
âWhy return something this good?â Cindy leveled her a look of bemusement and thought about it. âJust let me use it for a couple days anywayâyou can give it back when Chris visits again.â
âWhatâ¦â Helen was left speechless.
Her cousin was so thickâskinned!
Since her coaxing did not work on Helen, Cindy promptly made a wounded look again and hugged Ginaâs arm. âCome on, Aunt Gina. Your familyâs rich nowâsurely youâre willing to lend me a little necklace, right? Itâs not like Iâm taking it for myself.â
Gina scratched her head. âFine, fine⦠You can borrow it for a couple days.â
âThank you so much, Aunt Gina! Youâre the best!â
Cindy landed a big smooch on Ginaâs cheek before running upstairs with the red diamond necklace.
Violaâs birthday party would be held in a couple days.
If she wore this necklace and attended it, who knew if she could find a rich husband?
At the same time, Helen sighed exasperatedly and left for her office.
âMom, that necklace is worth twenty million!â Peter cried indignantly just then. âHow could you let Cindy take it just like that?â
âOh, sheâs just borrowing it for a couple of days,â Gina quickly waved him off. âSheâll return it anyway.â
è Frank arrived at a snack bar alone in the evening and had just made an order when a man entered.
Upon a closer look, it was actually a familiar face.
Frank waved at him. âMr. Lawrence.â
It was none other than Fred Lawrence, who was surprised to see Frank as well. âOh, itâs you.â
âHaving dinner?â
âYeah.â
âCome join me,â Frank invited.
Fred thought about it and ordered a fruit crepe before sitting opposite Frank.
âYou work nearby?â Frank asked.
Frank nodded. âYeah. My office is closed⦠Though Iâm surprised you would frequent a snack. bar like this one, Mr. Lawrence.
In Fredâs mind, only grunts such as himself would eat at snack bars like this.
If anything, it was curious that someone with power and money like Frank would come here.
Frank chuckled. âOh, weâre all just ordinary citizens, arenât we? Whatâs the difference in where We eat?â
