Chapter 270
The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage
Chrisâ eyes were evasive even as he quickly came up with another excuse. âI have no connection with ViolaâI bought that red diamond necklace! She wanted it too, but I didnât give in, so she bore a grudge over that!â
The Lanes were all trading glances, not sure who to believe with Frank and Chris arguing.
Frank turned toward Cindy just then and said, âWhy donât you tell us. Is the necklace Violaâs or Chrisâ?â
Cindy did not think that Frank would turn his crosshairs on her.
At that moment, what she said would decide what the Lanes would believe, and she certainly knew the truth. After all, during the party, Viola wore a blue diamond necklace with a design identical to Chrisâ red diamond necklace.
However, if she told the truth, she would upset Chris⦠And Frank was not going to thank her anyway.
And considering all the grievances she harbored toward Frank, helping Chris and getting in his good graces was much more ideal.
âOâOf course itâs Mr. Steinerâs,â she said. âMs. Salazar is just jealous.â
Frank frowned at her words, his eyes flashing murderously. âStill lying, are you?â
âAhhh!!!â
Knowing how strong Frank was, Cindy screamed as soon as Frank rushed toward her, hiding behind Gina as she cried, âHelp me, Aunt Gina!â
âStop!â Gina bellowed as she glared at Frank. âHow dare you lay a finger on my family!â
âYouâre just jealous, kid.â Chris laughed coolly and rolled up his sleeves, ready to hit Frank. â Hating me just because Mrs. Lane likes me better, and now, youâre trying to hurt Cindy too. I wonât allow such behavior!â
Peter, however, quickly stopped Chris. âCalm down, Mr. Steiner. Donât stoop to that lowlifeâs level.â
In reality, he was afraid that Chris would be beaten to a pulp, especially when Chris was the only person who could bail out his family now.
âEnough!â Helen suddenly bellowed, stopping all of them.
âHelen! Get him out of here already!â Cindy promptly cried.
Helen, however, simply stared at them, not knowing who to believe.
Despite having doubts about Chrisâ claims, she did not really believe Frank either.
As such, she did not chase anyone out, although she was not particularly friendly either.â Argue all you want, but do it outside.â
And with those words, she turned and headed to her study.
âHmph.â Chris snorted, folding his arms before his chest. âIâll let this slide for Helenâs sake.â
âItâs alright, Mr. Steiner. Donât stoop to his level,â Gina said as she pulled Chris along to the drawing room.
Henry sighed.
As the only one around who trusted Frank unconditionally, he said, âIâm so sorry. that you had to put up with this, Frank.â
âWhat are you saying?â Frank smiled, but his words were solemn. âYour troubles are mine- Iâd be dead if not for you back then.â
âDonât mention it⦠But I must ask, can we get through this?â Henry asked tentatively.
Frankâs phone suddenly started ringing.
Frank glanced at it to see that it was Donald Salazar calling, and he chuckled. âDonât worry. Viola will apologize to Helen soon.â
