Chapter 291
The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage
Iker was still staring yearningly at Winter. âSo? What do you think, miss?â
Winter was pensive for a while but eventually said hesitantly, âTâThis is a present from Mr. Lawrence.
IâI wonât sell it.â
Sure, she could sell it and get rich in an instant, but that was exactly itâit was too precious to be sold.
Moreover, what would Frank think of her if she did sell it?
Frank was profoundly pleased with her decisionâat the very least, she was not the type who could be bought.
Iker shook his head in disappointment in turn. âOh, terrible shame. No worriesâI wonât push for you to sell it, though I shall mourn that I missed out on such a masterpiece.â
Still, he was not one who gave up easily as he turned to Frank. âMay I ask where you bought that pendant from, Mr. Lawrence? Thatâs a piece by none other than Carl WeaverâIâd certainly like an introduction.â
Kurt smiled as well. âMr. Looman here loves his gems. Do introduce him if you can, Mr. Lawrence. Of course, it goes without saying that master artworks donât just drop out of the sky -itâs fine even if they didnât have them on supply.â
He was mainly worried about the two gentlemen getting confrontational, since heâd rather stay friends with the both of them.
Frank understood Kurtâs intentions, though he did not speak up outright. âA friend of mine has his ways.
Iâll introduce him to you should the opportunity arise, Mr. Looman. But I must bid my leave right now.â
âThatâs terrific!â Iker quickly said. âYou must contact me right away should you come across another gem of such quality, Mr. Lawrence. Iâll pay you handsomely for it!â
âShould the opportunity arise.â Frank nodded.
As he and Winterâs friends all left the karaoke lounge, Zeb and the others quickly bade their leave.
Zeb certainly would not dare flaunt the measly riches of his family now!
The other students left in a hurry too, since it had been a terrible day for them.
Aria, however, was all flirty as she moved up beside Frank. âWhy donât you give us a ride home, Mr.
Lawrence?â
Jean frowned. âFrank still has to drive Winter. You and I are taking a cab.â
Aria pouted reluctantly. âMr. Lawrence, you have to attend my birthday celebration, okay?â
Frank nodded. âOf course.
After sending Jean and Aria away, Frank and Winter got into his car.
Before Frank could take Winter home, she got a call from Fred. âHello? What is it?â
âWhere are you, Winter?â Fred asked urgently from the other end. âMomâs condition just got serious.
Come to the hospital right away.â
âWhat?!â Winter exclaimed, panicking right then.
âWhatâs wrong?â Frank quickly asked.
âMy motherâs sick. She was taken to the hospital⦠Can you take me there, Frank?â Winter asked nervously, her fingers clenching on her phone.
âDonât worry. Iâll take you there right away,â Frank assured her and promptly spun the car around to drive toward Riverton City Hospital.
They soon arrived and headed to the ward to find Winterâs mother, Carol Zims, sickly pale as she lay in bed.
A young couple stood by the bedâit was Fred and a woman.
Winter hurried to his side. âFred, howâs Mom?â
âSheâs unconscious right now, but the doctor has already scheduled her for surgery,â Fred replied.
Winterâs eyes welled up with tears. âHow did this happen?â
