Chapter 361
The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage
Vicky smiled. âI now understand why Frank would always go all out to save youâyouâre so adorably silly.â
Helen paused. âWhat are you talking about?â
âNothing.â Vicky waved her off, bored. âJust my way of saying Iâve never been Frankâs sugar mommy.
âReally?â Helen was clearly skeptical. âThen why are you always at his side, helping him?â
âI simply admire his virtues and character.â Vicky smiled in amusement, holding her chin on her hands as she stared at Helen. âI told youâheâs far better than youâd think. You simply never noticed that.â
Then, rising to her feet, she added, âIf thereâs nothing else, Ms. Lane, I need to get going.â
âDonât bother Frank ever again,â Helen quickly said.
âHaha!â Vicky laughed in disdain. âYouâve divorced him, Ms. Laneâitâs his freedom to choose who he hangs out with. If anything, you should be talking to him instead of me.â
Helen was stumped and left at a loss as Vicky strode out of her office.
Zeb had been waiting at the lobby of Grande Pharmaâs office for a long while and quickly went up to Helen when he saw her step out.
âHow did it go, Helen?â he asked enthusiastically. âWere you paid the commission for the project? Did Vicky Turnbull harass you?â
Helen shook her head. âI have the money, and Ms. Turnbull didnât harass me.â
Zebâs eyes lit up as he nodded. âThatâs great! With that 200 million, you can push Lane Holdings to new heights!â
Helen nodded silently, while Zeb chuckled, âSo, thereâs this project Iâm on recentlyâweâre developing something better than the Rejuvenation Pill. Are you interested in investing?â
Helenâs heart could stop at the mention of investingâshe was certainly afraid after the mess with Greg Marsh!
âI think Iâll pass,â she said. âIâm really not interested.â
âCome on, Helen!â Zeb persisted. âI think this is a good projectâwith both of us working together, itâs a winâwin!â
âNo.â Helen remained insistent as she headed for her car. âI intend to develop Lane Holdings, and with my grandfatherâs birthday coming soon, anything else can wait. Iâm going now if thereâs nothing else.â
âIâll give you a ride, Helen,â Zeb quickly offered.
Helen smiled in turn. âIâm heading home, Mr. Larkin. Weâre not going in the same direction.â
And with those words, she floored the gas pedal and sped off.
Zeb was left staring as she left, his knuckles clenched in frustration.
He did not expect Helen to be so wary about investments, just as he was seething that he could not take a bite out of Helenâs 200 million dollars.
He whipped out his phone and called Cram Larkin. âHey, Dad⦠So I think weâd have to wait a little longer for the 200 milâ¦â
âWhat are you doing?!â Cram snapped at the other end. âYou failed to get the Rejuvenation. Pill recipe, and now you canât even smoothâtalk some chick?!â
The Larkins did not amount to anything in Rivertonâit was Cram who proved resourceful, using his good looks to sway the heiresses of the city.
