Chapter 375
The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage
Zeb, Gina, Cindy, and Peter all laughed at Randallâs words.
Helen just happened to be done greeting guests when she came and heard them laughing.â Whatâs going on? Whyâs everyone laughing?â
Peter quickly told her, âFrank brought a present, saying itâs Alfie Bronxâs work⦠but Mr. Young called it a fake without even needing a look!â
Helen frowned. âWhy?â
âBecause the only real privately owned Bronx piece is hanging in Gerald Simmonsâ office!â Cindy laughed, clutching her stomach and almost falling over.
Helen glanced at Frank and sighed.
She could understand him well enough to tell that he just wanted to show off in front of her grandfather and did not expect to be exposed.
âThatâs enough. Itâs just a paintingâFrank was probably tricked too, right Frank?â she asked, trying to bail Frank out from the awkwardness.
Frank did not play along, however. âRandall Young never even looked at it. How would he know if itâs a fake? Also, I got it from Gerald Simmonsâ office.â
âHaha! You really can talk!â Zeb shook his head. âIâve met thickâskinned people, but youâre something else!â
Gina snorted in disdain. âYouâve probably never even met Gerald Simmons, and youâre saying you got it from his office?!â
Helen glared at Frank right then. âThatâs enough. Just cut it out already.â
She did his best to protect him, but he was going too far!
That was when a servant came in and whispered, âMs. Lane, Mr. Lynch has just arrived.â
âWhat?â Helen exclaimed in surprise, not expecting Aron to come as well.
She was ready to go over to see Aron when he arrived, and she exclaimed in surprise, âWhen did you arrive, Mr. Lynch? You could have told me Iâd be on hand to receive you!â
â
âItâs alright, Ms. Lane.â Aron smiled, holding up a hand. âIâm here mainly to send Mr. Simmonsâ best wishes.â
âOhâ¦â Helen gulped, hardly able to believe her ears.
The Lanes were left trading glances, while even Zeb was perplexed.
Aron was carrying a rolledâup canvas as Helen led him to Henry.
After some polite exchanges, he spread the painting he was holding before passing it to Henry, he said, âHere, Mr. Lane. A token of best wishes courtesy of Mr. Simmons himselfâhe hopes youâll like it.â
Henry promptly got up to take it politely. âThis is too much⦠Please do send my best regards, Mr.
Lynch.â
Aron nodded. âOf course.
Gina suddenly had an idea and smiled. âMr. Simmons certainly owns a lot of treasures. Iâm sure youâve seen your fair share, given that you work for him?â
Aron smiled. âMr. Simmons is an avid collector. Itâs no big deal for him.â
Gina nodded. âThatâs for sure⦠Thereâs another painting here. Would you like to take a look?â
Naturally, she was talking about the painting Frank brought.
Aron nodded without hesitation. âSure, though Iâm not that wellâversed myself.â
