Chapter 380
The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage
Frank said, âIâd be near enough that way while you can make a living for yourself. What do you think?â
âSure, thatâs good.â Carol nodded repeatedly but soon paused. âBut wouldnât buying a whole shop be very expensive? I donât really need it that badlyâ¦â
Frank smiled. âDonât worryâI can afford it.â
âThen⦠Thank you very much. I donât know what else I can say,â Carold exclaimed, âCan I have Winter with me too? Donât worryâwe wonât run away.â
âAre you still wary of me, Madam Zims?â Frank asked in surprise.
He could not say that he was not hurt with how careful she was around him, especially since he was sincere.
Carol shook her head and made sure Winter was not around before saying, âNo⦠I think you know about Winterâs situation too, that sheâs not my daughterâ¦?
âI am aware. I donât mind telling you that I showed up at your snackbar the first time to look for her,â
Frank admitted, having no reason to hide it since Carol was now opening up to him.
Carol nodded in turn. âYes, but Winter herself doesnât know. Iâve raised her for twenty years, and I know what she thinksâI can tell that she likes you too, but youâre both siblings.â
That was why Carol had to be careful, in case something amoral happened between Frank and Winter as they cohabited.
Frank pursed his lips in awkwardnessâso Carol thought he was Winterâs brother?
âYou misunderstand, Madam Zims.â He smiled. âI actually adopted the last name of my mentor, who took me in since I was an orphan. Winter is his only daughter, and before my mentor died, his last wish was for me to take care of her.â
Carol did a double take before breathing a long sighâso Frank was not Winterâs brother!
âOh, you could have told me sooner,â she said wryly.
Frank scratched his head. âActually, Winterâs life at your home is good, and thatâs why I never told her.
Thereâs no chance to do that later on either.â
âI see⦠Well, Iâm relieved,â Carol said, patting her chest. âEither way, Winterâs in your care now. Sheâs young and headstrong at times, so I hope you could tolerate her more. I still have some money too. Itâs not much, but itâs enough for her dowry⦠Just pick a good date soon and tie the knot.â
âYeah⦠huh?â Frank nodded repeatedly before he realized something was not right and quickly explained, âNo, Madam Zims, you misunderstand. Winter and I are not like that.â
âBut you said Winterâs father asked you to take care of her before she died?â Carol asked solemnly.
âItâs only right you take care of her for the rest of your life.â
In other words, by marrying Winter.
Frank did a double take.
Carol spoke senseâhe just never thought about it that way.
Still, he threw up his hands. âNo, no⦠Letâs not discuss that for a while either. Winterâs still young and hasnât properly experienced society, and I donât think we should tell her right now.â
He thought of Winter as a sister, and nothing romantic. Also, who would hook up with their mentorâs daughter?
