Chapter 381
The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage
Zeb returned home late that same night and headed to his fatherâs study.
Seeing his son, Cram put down the book he was reading and asked, âI heard Henry Laneâs birthday was today. How did you do?â
âTerrible. I was humiliated.â Zeb huffed. âFrank Lawrence stole my thunderânot only did the Chief of General Affairsâ secretary come to see him, but all of the Turnbullsâ associates were there as well, inviting Frank to visit them!â
âFine, then put all of that behind you,â Cram lectured. âRight now, you should be trying to get the Rejuvenation Pill recipe.â
âI would, but Helen doesnât really trust me right now.â Zeb sighed exasperatedly.
Cram mused to himself for a while and said, âThen itâs time I stepped up.â
Zeb quickly warned him, âDad, you shouldnât underestimate Frank Lawrence. Heâs no pushover.â
âHaha!â Cram laughed. âIf he were really that amazing, he wouldnât be freeloading off the Lane family for three years. You just stay out of this, and think of a way to win over Helen and her money. Weâll rise above once I get the recipe.â
Zeb nodded right thenâhe would certainly like to win over Helen too.
Now, it seemed that he would have to resort to a more handsâon approach.
Early next morning, Frank had just finished washing up when he received a call from Trevor Zurich.
He had already found a completely renovated mansion near Skywater Bay for Carol that she could move into anytime.
Frank nodded in satisfaction and informed Carol about that.
After breakfast, a security guard informed Frank that a guest had arrived.
Frank was surprisedâwho would be visiting this early in the morning?
Still, he let them in.
It turned out to be none other than Cram, who was surprised Frank lived in such luxury.
He was even more shocked when he met Frank personallyâdespite Frankâs slender frame, his presence was imposing, and he was exceedingly good looking.
Perplexed to see Cram in turn, Frank nodded and asked, âTo whom do I owe the pleasure?â
Cram smiled. âCram Larkin, at your service. Your reputation precedes you, Mr. Lawrence.â
Frank frowned right then. âLarkin? Then Zeb Larkin is yourâ¦â
Cram nodded. âZeb is my son.â
Any good opinion Frank had of the man was gone immediately, though he tried his best to be cordial. He might hate Zeb, but he had no reason to attack a man who came in peace.
âThen tell me, Mr. Larkin⦠To what do I owe the pleasure?â he asked.
Cram smiled. âIâve come mainly to apologize to you, since things have been unpleasant between you and my sonâ¦â
Frank raised a hand to stop him. âIâm busy, Mr. Larkin. Please cut to the chase.â
âVery well. My son told me that you invented the Rejuvenation Pill,â Cram said right then. And I came to ask for the recipe.â
Frankâs expression cooled right then. âIn that case, you can leave. Iâm never giving it to you.â
