Chapter 59: Tying the Knot
Beyond the Spotlight
The gentle hum of the restaurant's ambiance wrapped around Kimberly as she sat across from Aaron. The flicker of candlelight reflected in his deep brown eyes, the softness of his smile making her heart skip.
âAre you sure you donât want to talk business tonight?â she teased, sipping her wine.
Aaron chuckled, reaching for her hand. âNo business, just us. I thought it was time we stopped skirting around the big question.â
Kimberly arched a brow. âBig question?â
âThe wedding,â he said, his tone serious yet warm. âWeâve been so caught up in everythingâfamily, work, lifeâbut I want to marry you, Kimberly. Soon. So letâs set a date.â
Her chest swelled with emotion. âYouâre serious?â
âAs serious as I was when I asked you to be my wife.â He leaned in, brushing his thumb over her hand. âSo what do you think? Spring? Summer?â
Kimberly smiled, excitement bubbling in her chest. âSpring sounds perfect. Late April or early May, when everythingâs blooming.â
Aaron nodded, his expression thoughtful. âI know a vineyard near the coast. Itâs private, elegant, and has this amazing view at sunset. What do you think?â
She tilted her head, imagining it. âThat sounds beautiful. But... would it be okay if we toured a few places? Iâd like to find somewhere that feels right for both of us.â
Aaron squeezed her hand. âAnything you want. Weâll find the perfect spot together.â

Two days later, Kimberly sat in her apartment with Kehlani and Alisha, surrounded by wedding magazines, fabric swatches, and endless Pinterest boards.
âIâm just saying,â Kehlani began, flipping through a bridal magazine, âyou could totally pull off a ballgown. Like, full-on princess vibes.â
Kimberly laughed. âI was thinking something more fitted. Simple, elegant, nothing too over-the-top.â
Alisha smirked, holding up a swatch of deep emerald fabric. âAnd what about bridesmaidsâ dresses? I love this color.â
Kehlani wrinkled her nose. âEmerald? For spring? Nah, letâs go softerâsage green or blush pink.â
âLadies,â Kimberly interrupted, grinning. âI love you both, but one decision at a time. Letâs start with the venue.â
---
Later that evening, Aaronâs family gathered at their home to discuss the upcoming plans. Jacquelineâs eyes lit up as she suggested, âA grand ballroom would be stunning. Think chandeliers, marble floors, a five-tier cakeâ¦â
Kimberlyâs polite smile faltered. âThatâs beautiful, Mrs. Pierre, but Aaron and I were thinking of something smaller. More intimate.â
Jacqueline frowned, her voice tinged with disappointment. âBut this is a Pierre wedding, Kimberly. It should be an event to remember.â
Before Kimberly could respond, Aaron stepped in, his tone calm but firm. âMom, this is Kimberlyâs day as much as mine. We want something that feels like us, not just a spectacle.â
Jacqueline pursed her lips but nodded. âOf course, dear. I just want it to be special for both of you.â
---
The following weekend, Aaron and Kimberly hosted a brunch to share the news with both families. The announcement of a late-April wedding was met with cheers and hugs, though Calvin couldnât resist ribbing his brother.
âMan, I never thought Iâd see the day,â he joked. âAaron Pierre, officially off the market.â
Aaron rolled his eyes but grinned. âDonât get used to it, Calvin.â
The warmth of the gathering reassured Kimberly that blending their families would be a journey worth taking.
---
As the celebration wound down, Aaronâs phone buzzed. Seeing Marcusâs name, he excused himself to answer.
âWhatâs up?â Aaron asked.
âWeâve got a problem,â Marcus said, his voice tense. âThe network wants to push the documentary release to April. Right when the wedding is scheduled.â
Aaronâs jaw clenched. âAre you serious?â
âTheyâre saying itâs prime time. But donât worry, weâll figure it out,â Marcus assured him.
Aaron ended the call, his mind racing. Kimberly deserved his full attention, but now he had to balance the demands of his career with the promise heâd made to her.
