BONUS - RAMON
It's Called Life
I feel like I didn't do enough for Ramon's ending which is the main reason I even wrote bonuses. If im being honest he was always the person I struggled the most to write. Which is why unfortunately half the book he was sticking his tongue down chinas throatð. I have a lot of ideas on how to change their relationship that I'll definitely incorporate when/if i edit. By the end of it their relationship will have more substance. Anyways, I've begun writing a bonus scene for all the Quads im not sure if the others will ever make it out of my drafts but it's a must that this one does. Thanks for all of the support, I love y'all.
Ramon 's POV
A few weeks after reunion
"How was your reunion?" Kuzia asked packing Camri's bag.
"It was nice I saw all my old friends and my siblings. We all walked very different paths but everyone seemed happy."
"Well im glad you enjoyed it. We still on for Saturday?"
"Yes ma'am." I dragged.
"Camri been bothering me to go by you all week. You musta did voodoo on my baby cause she saw you one time and now she gotta see you once a week."
I smiled. "Crazy part is after a day or two at my house she start sighing talking bout she miss you."
"Hey Ramon!" Camri yelled running down the stairs jumping on me.
"Hey bug."
"You gone stop callin my baby a bug." Kuzia laughed.
"She like it." I shrugged putting her down then shifting my attention back on Camri. "And you gone break my back one day tryna jump on me. Ian getting no younger & neither are you."
She laughed poking her tongue out. "I'm not even remotely as old as you."
"I should leave you in this house."
Me and Kuzia talked for a few minutes before she hadda leave out. "Tell your mama bye right fast."
They exchanged words while I grabbed Cam's stuff. "You got all my stuff this time right? Cause last time y'all left my night clothes!" She frowned.
"You coulda packed your own stuff." Kuzia shrugged. I unlocked the door for Camri who wasted no time going to the car.
"Ohh and good luck Zia, you got it."
She's going on her first ever work trip for two days. Kuzia's the kind of person who constantly grows and I can't help but be proud of her accomplishments. I've known her since middle school and it's crazy how much she's evolved. I still remember her in middle school and early high school, she was my first love, & my first real girlfriend. A lot of people said it was puppy love and while it exists, it wasn't what we had. Honestly, we developed something more real than we were ready for.
I remember how shocked I was when she dropped out to start working. I thought her ass was crazy but shit it worked out well for her. She got her GED and became big in the corporate world. She's loves it even though she's one of few women there. After that one time I watched Camri, I slowly became somewhat of a father figure in her life and me and Kuzia became friends again.
"Thank you Ramon, I really appreciate you helping me with Cam. Especially since she's not your responsibility."
"Don't start that up again Zia. I already told you I don't mind watching her. I love that lil girl like my own & y'all not a inconvenience to me."
She hugged me and I returned the hug. "Thank you. I love you so much."
"I love you too Zia, now go head you gone be late. Text me when you make it."
She grabbed her stuff and I made sure she made it to her car okay before pulling off after her.
"Where we going." Cam said poking her head through the seat about to give me a damn heart attack since I was in my head.
"Put on yo seatbelt, you know better." Once I heard the seatbelt click i answered her question.
"I was thinking bout cooking but if you wanna go somewhere I'll take you."
"Cookings fine but can we get ice cream on the way?"
"I'll take you but don't tell your mama I gave you ice cream before a meal."
She giggled and I smiled. "Okay I'll tell her it was after dinner."
We got ice cream and ate it at the place making small talk about how she's doing in school and stuff like that.
"My dad was supposed to visit last week but he didn't come again."
"I'm sorry to hear that."
"He does it everytime though. I haven't seen him in months and he keeps having my mom get me dressed just to not show up. I can tell she doesn't want to help me anymore, she only does it because I want her to. It's starting to make me feel bad."
I sighed. "You can start calling me & whenever I can I'll help you pick out your outfits. If he don't show up ima take you somewhere if you still up to go. Sound good?"
"Yeah. We could go get more ice cream if he don't come."
Speaking on her relationship with her father was something I try to dance around. Even though I have a strong a opinion about the situation, it's not my place to bad mouth him to his child. Instead I try to be more dependable so she'll have a better example of a man in her life.
"Yup. As for your mama ima be honest with you she don't care about helping you get dressed, she do that all the time. She just wants to protect you from being hurt by his absence ."
"I understand. I don't wanna talk about that anymore tho. When are you and my mom gonna get together?"
"Stay out grown folks business." I laughed.
"Mhm, I want a sister."
I choked on my ice cream. "Yeah, no. You're getting way ahead of yourself."
"Nope, y'all just ain't moving fast enough. I know you love her & she loves you. What's the holdup?"
"Not all love is romantic."
"But y'all love is."
"No it's not."
"Yes it is."
"No it's not."
"Yes it is."
"Matter fact why am I going back and forth with a child? Just eat ya ice cream cam, you making this difficult for no reason."
"Y'all lying to y'all selves is all im saying. My mom gets happier when you're around and you care about us way too much for you not to be in love. I noticed it, y'all always smile when y'all talk, y'all haven't dated anyone else, you always seem lighter around her. Not to mention you spend more time with me than creating your own family."
Ramon dismissed the conversation and Cam let it go after realizing she was overstepping.
1 year later
"Y'all ready?" Ramon yelled walking into Kuzia's house.
Cam's eyes lit up at his presence. She quickly hopped off the couch giving him a hug as if she hadn't seen him in a decade, even though she saw him the previous day. Ramon had stayed true to his word in taking her places everytime her father failed to show. She quickly began to see him as more of a father figure than her own dad. Instead of being sad when her dad didn't show she looked forward to choosing somewhere to go with her now step father.
"Dang Cam! I need my circulation." He joked and she let him go.
About 3 months after the ice cream shop Ramon tried to prove to himself he wasn't in love with Kuzia by going on a date. He realized how wrong he was before he even made it to the restaurant. He called his date & offered to pay for her meal but she declined saying she was going home. After that he headed to Kuzia's house and basically confessed his love.
They'd been friends for over a decade so it was odd stepping out of the friendship role at first but after the first two dates that awkwardness faded. Things started to rapidly progress, so much so that they were looking to buy a home together.
Ramon knew what he wanted & so did Kuzia, so they wasted no time. They quickly realized the value in being friends first. Their was already trust & love between them so there was a lack of fear.
Cam was looking forward to living in a two parent household and potentially having siblings. She sometimes found it lonely being an only child. Other times she liked having all the attention on her.
Ramon opened both of their car doors trying to hide his nervousness as he made his way back to his side of the car.
He took a deep breath as he entered the car feeling around in his pocket to make sure the ring didn't grow legs. Today he was going to ask Kuzia to be his wife, she was it for him. He loved her and he loved Cam just as much, nothing would make him happier than being able to call Kuzia his wife.
His biggest fear though was that she didn't want marriage. They'd had many serious conversations about their future together but never once had they brought up marriage, it made him uneasy not knowing her opinion on the subject.
They made it to his restaurant where he had the staff help with his proposal. They were seated in a private room, the staff had began preparing their food shortly before they arrived so it was freshly made once they sat down.
They made small talk over dinner and pretty soon it was time. The staff brought out Kuzia's favorite cake which she'd often stop by the restaurant for. Her smile widened when she saw the cake. She casually read the words "Will you marry me?" aloud and just as the words registered in her head she looked up to find Ramon on one knee.
Through tears she quickly accepted his proposal, Cam squealed in excitement for the two of them. Seeing their relationship over time had inspired her, she wanted a love just like theirs when she grew up.
The staff clapped for them. They respected Ramon a lot he was a great boss, very understanding but he still ran a tight ship. Everybody wanted the best for him and they'd grown to like Kuzia as well. Everytime she came into the restaurant she tipped well and treated everyone with respect. Furthermore, they'd always seen the two interact very lovingly.
Everyone watched in admiration. Even a blind man could see how much love was in the small unconscious gestures they did for one another.
