Chapter 5

Team Petty

Infinity

Zayla

I whirl my body around, but I can’t spot him anywhere, in fact I can’t even smell him.

He’s completely gone. And with him, my impending release.

As the pleasure in my pussy slowly dissipates, I feel my body becoming a frustrated mess.

How is that possible? He was here seconds ago, I mean…right.

My brain is far too mushy from the unfinished pleasure his fingers just gave me, that trying to make sense of my lack of senses is just becoming as frustrating as it is impossible to calm my shaking limbs.

With my body still a trembling mess, I start searching around for Paisley. The task is easier as people have begun to either head home, or out with their newly acquired hookups.

Spotting her across the club grinding on the guy that was previously grinding on me, I accept defeat over the situation I’m in and walk up to them.

Trying to shake off the feeling that is crippling my every nerve—longing, I plant myself in front of Paisley, who just smiles at me while continuing to move her body over the man behind her.

Trying as hard as I can to shake off my mood, I start bouncing slightly to the music.

Not moving out in front of Paisley, but not getting close enough to touch her either.

That is until the guy behind her locks eyes on me.

His eyes go blank, like every part of his existence has been wiped clean. His whole body freezing in place.

“I’m gay.” His tone is flat, emotionless.

Paisley turns around to him, both of our eyes widening in surprise at his random remark.

“I’m gay” he repeats in the same dead tone, my confusion quickly becoming overpowered by Paisley’s anger.

“No you’re not, you were grinding on my cousin, then came and fucked me! Bi-sexual maybe, but definitely not gay!” she spits somewhat bitterly, her confusion quickly being overshadowed by the anger her wolf is feeling over the rejection of this human.

The thing is that he hasn’t taken his eyes off me, and it’s creeping me the fuck out. But it’s also suspicious.

So going out on a limb, I walk up to him, touching his shoulder. The move is innocent, but it’s met with him nearly jumping out of his skin. “I’m gay!”

Raising my eyebrows I turn to Paisley, “I think he was compelled” At my remark, I watch as the anger behind her eyes calms, her wolf finally catching on as well.

Walking up to him, she grabs his face and turns him so his back is facing me, in an instance he’s on her! His gay comment long forgotten. With my guess that he had indeed been compelled to be proven correct, I’m left puzzled as to who did it?

My only guess is Soren! But when the fuck did he have time? And also why? Because he danced with me?

Looking around the room again, I tried spotting Soren’s scent. But it’s nowhere to be found.

~Why couldn’t I smell him~? I sigh, racking my brain.

My sexual frustration is mingling with confusion, leaving me frustrated and horny as fuck.

Having about had enough of the game we play tonight, I start walking to where Paisley and her compelled human friend have moved to.

Accidentally bumping into a group of people as I try to pass, I notice them all get that same blank stare that the other man gave me.

This group of easily eleven people, all eyes glued on me.

“I’m gay.”

“I’m straight,” is said in unison from the males claiming to be gay and the women yelling they’re straight, when I could almost swear I saw two of the females going at it moments ago.

Walking past them quickly, the creepy chills their stares give me have my wolf on edge.

It isn’t until I notice it.

Not a fucking person is dancing next to me, or even moving a muscle. No! No, they’re all fucking staring at me until I pass, then it’s like it never happened.

Paisley rushes over to me quickly, seemingly just as creeped out as I am. The room remains completely oblivious.

“You don’t think…” I can’t even finish my sentence before another person tells me their newfound sexual orientation.

“I think your mate compelled them,” Paisley says as she lets her eyes roam around the club.

“Aw, it looks like they’re just not that into you,” I hear Soren say into my ear before chuckling and vanishing like he wasn’t there but of course saying it loud enough that Paisley can hear too. She starts cracking up laughing.

I can’t even react, I’m literally just fucking stunned! My mate is literally the king of being fucking petty!

He literally compelled the whole fucking club to deny me.

“Goddammit Soren, you petty bastard,” I yell out. Paisley is still standing next to me cracking up.

His chuckle fills the club loudly as he stands there proud and giddy over what he’s done. Only my mate would fucking compel over one hundred people to turn me down so I couldn’t dance on them.

But, mixed with my frustration, my longing is starting to get the better of me.

I can’t let Soren win this little game so easily.

Pulling Paisley’s arm, I drag her out of the club. Hailing a cab quickly, I sit back, resting my head against the seat exhausted.

“Your plan didn’t work,” I finally let out sadly after a few minutes. Looking at me she smirks.

“But didn’t it?” she lets out a quick chuckle before continuing, “He literally got so jealous at the thought of you grinding on another person… not even just a man! But anyone, that he compelled a whole club!”

Leaning her head back against the headrest matching my pose. “Though something is off about that Zayla.”

Lifting my head I look at her. “What do you mean?”

Turning, she looks at me with wonder and slight concern.

“I don’t know Zay, it’s just the fact that he was able to compel them so quickly. I mean Uncle Silas is over a thousand years old, and even he would’ve needed longer than a few minutes to compel a whole nightclub.”

A loud sigh pulls from my throat. “If he’s faster than an original vampire, then what is he? At first I thought vampire because his eyes turned red, but now!?” Sighing again I search my brain for answers. “Now, I have no idea because I’ve never seen anyone do the things he does.”

Concern washes over Paisley’s face before her hand comes to my lap, squeezing mine.

“Don’t worry Zay! I know you didn’t see his face tonight, but you did figure out that he’s possessive over you, and that’s a start! We’ll figure out who and what Soren is!”

Turning my head towards the window, I lean my head back against the back of the seat again, the trees of the poorly lit forest zooming past quickly as my mind whirls around in a circle.

“Yeah, hopefully!” I sigh out loud.

But, in my mind, I’m forming a plan. Paisley’s ruse may have partially worked, but I’m going to seal the deal tonight.

We get home pretty quickly. Rushing up to my room, I hop into the shower and clean off every part of myself. I even shave everything to make sure I smell as good as possible.

I know Soren followed me home. I don’t know how, but I can just sense him as I step back into my bedroom, wearing nothing but a towel.

Somehow I know he’s sitting right outside my bedroom window.

Since my fifteenth birthday, I’ve never locked my window, keeping it open at all times just for him.

When I walk over to my bed, I smell his scent again in the wind. It’s relaxing, reminding me of safety and protection. I’ve even smelt it in my own bed before. I think he likes that his scent helps me sleep.

But tonight I’m not sleeping. No! Tonight I’m getting my mate’s attention! He’s been playing and winning this game since I was six years old, and today it’s time for a new winner to come forward in our little game of cat and mouse... So move over, baby, because a new kitty is ready to come play.

Grabbing my headboard I drag my bed around until my bed is fully facing the window, giving anyone standing there the perfect view of me in the moonlight.

Then I turn to face where I know he’s standing, invisible.

“Alright, baby,” I say with my most seductive smirk. “Let’s play.”

And then I drop my towel.
