Chapter 1
The Invincible Warlord’s Vengeful Awakening by Adam Jonson
Chapter 1 Awakening âSir, you are Mr. Xavier Cavanaugh, right?â
A black limo with the license plate number â7777â slowly came to a stop, and a middle-aged man in a suit stepped out. At that moment, the middle-aged man seemed so excited that he cried tears of joy. âYes, you are Mr. Xavier! You must be Mr. Xavier!
Finally!â
Xavier frowned, his expression turning cold as he asked, âWho are you?â
âMr. Xavier, itâs been five years. Your resentment... should have dissipated by now, right?â
As Xavier looked at the middle-aged manâs face, fragments of memories flashed through his mind, but he couldnât recall anything. âYouâve mistaken me for someone else, sir.â With that, he turned and walked away.
Seeing Xavier about to leave, the middle-aged man became anxious. âMr. Xavier, Iâm Edward Hernandez! Donât you remember me? When you were a little boy, I taught you to steal other peopleâs chickens, catch fish, and bathe in the river... Have you...
forgotten all that?â
âThatâs bullshit,â Xavier muttered under his breath and, without turning back, headed toward the hospital.
His sister had married into the wealthy Vanderbilt family of Oceanheim two years ago, and her pregnancy was due today. The thought of becoming an uncle filled him with excitement.
âMr. Xavier, please donât hold a grudge against Mr. Robert any longer. You are always part of the Cavanaugh clan. Nothing can change that. You are the heir to the Cavanaugh family of Starhaven, and the billion-dollar fortune of the Cavanaugh family will be yours...â Edward kept talking as he followed behind Xavier, seemingly not ready to give up.
âShould we save the mother or the child?â
In the hospital corridor, the doctorâs cold words reached Leopold Vanderbiltâs ears. âSave the child,â he responded without a momentâs hesitation.
Leopold was the second son of the Vanderbilt family and Xavierâs brother-in-law.
The woman in labor in the operating room was Xavierâs sister, Samantha Cavanaugh.
At this moment, a baby could be heard crying in the operating room.
As Xavier arrived on the fifth floor, he heard a loud cry. Then, the door to the operating room swung open, and a nurse, looking utterly exhausted, stepped out and said, âCongratulations, itâs a boy.â
The Vanderbilt family members all smiled, eagerly moving forward to take turns holding the baby.
Xavier hesitated for a moment before asking the nurse, âExcuse me, Miss, how is my sister?â
The nurse took a deep breath and replied slowly, âThe patient had a difficult labor with severe bleeding... We could only save one, and her family chose to save the child, so the patient... didnât make it...â
âNo... no... no, this is impossible! This isnât real! How... How could my sister die?â
Struck as if by lightning, Xavier rushed into the operating room. On the operating table, Samanthaâs face was deathly pale, her brows tightly furrowed, and crystal tears hung at the corners of her eyes. Her fingers clutched desperately at the white sheet under her body, her pupils filled with bloodshot veins as if unable to bear the immense pain. Her once beautiful face twisted into a grimace. Even so, a faint smile still lingered on her lips.
Xavier touched Samanthaâs body, and it was ice cold. He struggled to pry his sisterâs hand open, and a small note fell out, reading, âDoctor, if something happens to me, please, you must save me. Iâm the only family my brother has.â
âNO... NOOO!â Xavier knelt on the ground as if his heart was ripped and cut open by a knife. He then let out a piercing scream.
A manâs tears were not easily shed, some said, unless his heart was broken.
Holding his sisterâs cold hand, Xavier felt heartbroken. âSammy, donât be afraid. Iâm here. Iâll take you home...â
Outside the operating room, the Vanderbilt family members were all smiles, still playing with the newborn baby. From start to finish, not a single one of them entered the operating room.
Xavier clenched his fist and rushed outside, shouting angrily, âLeopold, why didnât you tell the doctors to save my sister?â
At the sound, everyone turned around. A flicker of disgust crossed Leopoldâs eyes as he said nonchalantly, âXavier, itâs your sisterâs honor to bear a child for the Vanderbilt family. If only one of them could live, of course, we had to save the child.â
âHow could you do this to Sammy, you son of a Bch? Iâll kill you!â
In a fit of rage, Xavier lunged at Leopold, and the two grappled on the ground. Amidst the chaos, Leopold managed to get up from the ground and, in disbelief, bellowed, âXavier Cavanaugh, you worthless piece of trash, how dare you hit me?â
With a âthud,â he kicked Xavier to the ground before Xavier came to his senses. Then, with a wave of his hand, he commanded, âBoys, beat him! Beat this piece of trash to death!â
The Vanderbilt familyâs bodyguards rushed over and began to pummel Xavier with a flurry of punches and kicks. The blows landed on him like a storm, quickly leaving him battered and bruised.
Xavier resisted with all his might, but against the well-trained bodyguards, all his resistance was futile.
âStop!â
A figure descended from above like a wolf swooping on sheep, effortlessly knocking down all the Vanderbilt familyâs bodyguards.
It was Edward.
âMr. Xavier, are you alright?â Edward helped Xavier up, his eyes blazing with fury.
Xavier seemed to have lost his mind, his eyes staring into nothingness, muttering to himself, âYou basterd... Give me my sister back... Give me my sister back...â As he spoke, he began to cry.
âHmph, you just want to extort some money from us, donât you?â
At that moment, a woman decked out in heavy makeup approached. She was Beatrix Vanderbilt, sister to Leopold.
âItâs a mere life,â she said with disdain. âThe Vanderbilt family has plenty of money. How about this? Iâll give you 200 thousand dollars. Is it enough?â As she spoke, she flung a check for 200 thousand dollars directly at Xavierâs face.
Upon witnessing this, Edward became furious. Although he did not know why Xavier had lost his memory, Xavier was the heir to the Cavanaugh family of Starhaven, one of the prestigious Eight Clans. Such an insult to the dignified Cavanaugh family was definitely unacceptable. A dense killing intent began to permeate from Edward.
Beatrix glanced at Edward indifferently and said, âLooks like youâre quite arrogant, old man. How dare you show off your lousy skills in front of the Vanderbilt family?â She paused for a moment and then added coldly, âKneel and apologize to me, or else, you and that piece of trash wonât leave here alive today.â
At Beatrixâs signal, the Vanderbilt familyâs bodyguards readied themselves, eager to strike again.
Edward stood firm like an iron gate in front of Xavier, confronting the Vanderbilt familyâs bodyguards.
Just then, something unexpected happened.
Xavier clutched his head, veins bulging at his temples as if something was trying to burst forth from his mind.
Boom...
With the influx of his memories, Xavier suddenly recalled everything. He was the heir to the Cavanaugh family of Starhaven. Six years ago, he had committed a mistake and was subsequently banished from the Cavanaugh family by the head of the family, his grandfather, Robert Cavanaugh. He had been cast out to the fringes of Avaloria, where he became a soldier.
Four years had passed, and from an unknown soldier, he had risen to become the commander of the renowned Heavenrage Legion, known as the Heavenrage Warlord. Moreover, he owned a mine overseas, which was the worldâs largest diamond mine.
Afterward, he single-handedly built a vast business empire, the Diamonds Group.
Two years ago, he was betrayed by someone he trusted and was hunted down by enemies, narrowly escaping death to Oceanheim, where he was saved by Samantha.
When he awoke, he acknowledged Samantha, who had been an orphan since childhood, as his sister.
A year ago, he had saved the son of Lucretia Pemberley, the eldest daughter of the Pemberley family. In gratitude, she offered to marry him. Following that, he became the live-in son-in-law of the Pemberley family.
Unnoticed by anyone, the emotions in Xavierâs eyes, now with his memory restored, began to fade away.
âThe Vanderbilt family... for the debt you owe me... I will have your blood in repayment!â
At that moment, Xavier, who was like a great dragon that had long been asleep, awakened...
