Chapter 20 of 30

memorabilia

Gone was time • poetry collection105 words~1 min read

polaroids from college parties,

heart-warming cards from family,

sports jerseys from high school days,

a shiny rock from yesterday.

all these cherished memorabilia

that i'd like to store away

in a wooden chest,

hidden from the light of day.

for they are too precious, absolutely priceless.

to leave them out, exposed and vulnerable

- how senseless!

but what's the point of

guarding yourself so fiercely

from other people

as if the light of day were evil.

when we all know

that if the memorabilia

were to be left in a chest somewhere,

it'd rot and decay anyway,

from fear, neglect, and the unwillingness

to share.
