Chapter 102

Ethan’s Vengeance of Love

He was certain that she would have agreed to his proposal if they hadn’t been spied on. Unfortunately,

he didn’t get to ask her any more questions after they found out someone was monitoring them. I’m

sure she would have said yes, he thought. He had intended to settle things a little earlier, but he had

some urgent matters to deal with that night, and he was kept busy until dawn the next day.

Since James happened to ask about Keith’s marriage, Keith figured that it was the right time to bring

this up. There was only one woman he wanted to marry—Alice! “Really? Are you really willing to get

married?” Lindsay’s face lit up with joy when she heard that her son wanted to get married.

“Hmph. That sounds more like it. You should tame yourself a little and focus on building a career.”

James was visibly calmer than before, and he no longer spoke in a harsh tone. “Which Woland Family

are you referring to, Keith?” Lindsay had been too excited earlier, so she took a while to really process

what her son had said. She wanted to clarify things so that she could approach the right people to

propose marriage.

“I’m sure you guys have heard of Woland Group, right?” This was one of those rare situations where

Keith was in a good mood, and his response was serious this time. “Are you talking about the Woland

Family who own the Woland Group? I’ve heard of them, of course.” Lindsay beamed. “They seem like

they’d be a pretty good match for our family. That’s good.”

Woland Group was considerably influential in Rodcaster, and their company had expanded in the past

few years, so Lindsay knew about them. “Emma is part of the Woland Family. Although they only

brought her back into the family a few years ago, she has a pretty good reputation. She’s elegant,

gentle, and she has both the looks and the talents.” Naturally, Lindsay assumed that Keith was

interested in Emma. There were only two girls in the Woland Family—Emma and Alice. Lindsay

assumed that it was Emma since Alice was off the market.

“When did I ever say that I was interested in that disgusting woman?” Keith’s gaze darkened as a look

of disdain surfaced on his face. He would never want to marry someone as pretentious as Emma. Even

though he had only met her once during the dinner party, it wasn’t hard for him to tell what she was like

as a person.

“Weren’t you referring to Emma? Who else would you be interested in, then? The Woland Family only

has…” Lindsay’s gaze widened as she exclaimed in shock, “Are you interested in Alice?”

“Yeah.” Keith nodded with a rare show of earnestness on his face.

There was a complete change in Lindsay’s expression after that. “What? Are you really interested in

Alice? She’s an idiot, and her appearance is ruined. On top of that, what happened between her and

Bruce was… I don’t even know what to say about it. No. I’m not going to allow you to marry her,”

Lindsay said.

“Forget it, then. I’m not that interested in getting married, anyway.” Keith shot the woman with an icy

glare before he turned around and headed upstairs. He knew his mother and grandfather well enough

to set up the perfect trap for them.

“Why do you care about who he marries? He’s nearly 30—he doesn’t have much of a choice anymore!

You shouldn’t be so picky about the woman he marries. Alice might not even want to marry him! If you

head over to suggest marriage, their family might just agree.” As expected, James started to panic a

little after he saw Keith leaving. James didn’t have any standards at that point—he simply wanted Keith

to settle down with a woman. I don’t care who he marries, as long as she’s a woman!

On top of that, James also had some trust in his grandson’s taste. James knew that there had to be

something special about the woman if she could capture Keith’s attention, and he knew that the rumors

being spread around could be inaccurate. For the first time, Keith found himself in full agreement with

his grandfather’s words. Grandpa’s right. Even if we go over to ask for marriage, Alice might not agree

to it, especially with Ethan around. I can tell that Ethan treats her rather differently, and I don’t think

Ethan will just stand around and watch if I propose to have Alice as my wife.

Despite knowing all of this, Keith still wanted to marry Alice. Both Keith and Ethan liked her, but whom

she ended up with would depend on the two men’s skills. Lindsay was shocked to hear what James

said. Is my son that bad?

“All right. It’s decided. You should prepare yourself to pay the Woland Family a visit to suggest the

marriage, and you should go today if you have the time to do it. Someone else might marry her first if

we don’t do it soon.” James didn’t put much thought into his words, and he had no idea how accurate

his last statement was.

“Fine, then.” Lindsay wasn’t too pleased with this arrangement, but James had already given his

orders, and Keith was willing to marry Alice, so Lindsay had no choice but to visit the Wolands.

After James took his morning stroll and returned home, it was past 10.00AM. His expression darkened

when he saw that Lindsay was still home. “Didn’t I tell you to go visit them? Why are you still here?”

James only had one grandson. If Keith didn’t get married, wouldn’t they lose their family lineage?

“I just wanted to do some research to understand them a little better first.” Lindsay felt sorry for herself.

Her son’s marriage was no small issue, and she didn’t want to be careless with it. “What is there to

research? You should just approach them since Keith is interested in the woman. I want you to go!

Right now!” James was stern as he urged Lindsay to go to the Wolands’ place. He even had the

thought of pushing her out the door.

“Fine, fine. I’ll go now.” Lindsay didn’t have the guts to go against James, and she knew that her son

was serious about marrying Alice. Fine. As long as Keith likes her. The more I try to meddle with this,

the more I’ll get scolded. Eventually, Lindsay arrived at Woland Residence.

Upon hearing that they had a visitor, Amelia walked out of the door with a rather exasperated look on

her face, but when she saw Lindsay, she was stunned. “Mrs. Rowland? That’s you, right? What are you

doing here?” The Rowland Family was relatively well known in Rodcaster. They were a family of

government officials, so most businesspeople didn’t dare to mess with them.

The Wolands had never interacted much with the Rowlands, so Amelia was puzzled to see Lindsay at

their front door. “I’m here because my son, Keith, is interested in getting married.” Lindsay made her

intentions clear when she saw Amelia coming out to greet her.

“A marriage?” Amelia’s eyes lit up immediately. Instinctively, her thoughts went to Emma. Even though

Emma wasn’t her real daughter, she was still a part of the Woland Family. If Emma could get into the

Rowland Family, the Wolands would benefit from her marriage.

“Is Old Mr. Woland here?” Lindsay was rather surprised to see the look of joy on Amelia’s face, and she

quickly understood the reason behind Amelia’s interest. However, she didn’t want to embarrass Amelia,

so she asked for Charles instead.

“Yeah. Old Mr. Woland is in the study. I’ll get someone to call him over. Please wait, Mrs. Rowland.”

Amelia couldn’t conceal the smile on her face when she thought that the Rowlands were interested in

marrying Emma. “Come downstairs, Emma. Mrs. Rowland is here.”
